When should I arrive?

The past couple of days I have been obsessing about whether to arrive on the 25th, get a good nights sleep, and then go; or whether to come on the 26th and high-tail it to the con center.

I can save money by going on the 26th, but there is the chance that I may miss the beginning of the first day.
Is the traffic in boston bad enough to warrant coming a day early?

I am driving, btw.

Also you could meet up with the bar crawl the night before providing your of drinking age of course.

Well it all depends...the show kicks off at 2pm and most hotels don't allow check in till 3 so you'll be in a rough spot there. As far as traffic goes, if you take the highway into Boston around 10 or 11am you'll see little traffic.

Meh, most hotels hold your luggage for you until you're ready to check in. Hell, some of them even take your stuff up to your room as soon as it's ready.

Shoot, I know my hotel technically doesnt have check ins until 3, but I requested an early checkin, and now mt room will be ready at 7 AM.

Hmm, now I'll have to look into that myself...

In any case, arriving the day of the show isn't a major issue since the doors do not open until 2pm. Traffic in Boston is worst around 6am-8ish, noon, and then again around 4-6pm. Provided you make it to Boston proper around noon, or even 1, you'll make it to the show on time

Thanks for the replies, I'll check with the hotel before deciding, but now I'm not going to have an ulcer over it :P

You may want to look at taking a train into town to save the daily parking fees. Just a thought :)

It's only a 5 hour drive and it ends up being about $100 cheaper than taking the train as I'm bringing 2 others with me.

Ahh, I thought you were fairly local (<2 hours away). Driving makes sense then.

I think it's worth investigating dropping your car off at a cheaper lot once you get checked in to the hotel.

The lots down by Hynes are like $40/day, meanwhile Landmark Center is only $15 a day and is a quick trip from Hynes via T. Outlying T stations like Alewife also have quite a bit of parking. Worth doing some googling IMO :)

Will the Landmark Center have parking during the morning hours or will it fill up? The Alewife Station website said only a 10% open rate on weekdays, that worries me.

That's an excellent question, but it is one I cannot speak to. I would expect it will have parking as it's a very large garage - I think it only really fills up when there's a game going on at Fenway.
