Mainstream type stuff in Japan nowadays, more video game music concerts have been hitting this side of the pond in the last couple years...
So it looks like they're about halfway through their tour dates - some serious business with stops in Sydney, Tokyo, Brazil, and most major Canadian and US cities...
There's a video screen with stuff on it to watch during the show, tix are generally more expensive because its a symphony and classy stuff.
Zelda, Mario, Halo, Final Fantasy, Warcraft, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, and other games' music
A choir is present to handle the appropriate pieces that use one..
Anyone been to it? I'm thinking of hitting the 2nd of the 2(?!) Edmonton shows. It's probably our city's first video game music concert.
woo!

This is just a tribute.
Orlando. It figures.
Eh... I'd much rather have seen the Final Fantasy concert, but I guess this is a distant next best thing.
Slowly I'm getting more and more excited as the date gets closer.
Luckily, I saw the More Friends concert at E3 2005, 3rd row.
the first one, what are your seats?
I suggest you go to the Meet and Greet and meet some of the celebrity guests and get their autographs and stuff. For the Hollywood Bowl one, there were a lot of guests... they appeared on stage, too.
I met Bill Roeper (sp?) (Blizzard dude), Yuji Naka (Sonic creator... the programmer dude...), Victor Lucas (Tommy Tallarico's co-host on shows such as The Electric Playground), and Doug Tennapel (Earthworm Jim creator+artist... and, as I found out, the voice of Earthworm Jim in the first two games!).
Hideo Kojima was also there but I missed him (but he did show up on stage... and looked like an ant but hey...). Stan Lee was also there at the Meet and Greet, but I missed him. Damn, there are some pics of Hideo and Stan sitting right next to each other at the Meet and Greet and smiling together and stuff.
but i am interested in teh guitar hero /space invaders contests during the pre-show...
i think i could kick some ass and win some prizes there
im assuming most nerds do not dress up for these things?
i think ill go dress casual?

Except Tommy Tallarico...he was pretty annoying.
First concert, Main Terrace Left row X seats 10-13.
I'll probably dress a bit formal. Nice clothes; no t-shirts.
If you can go, do so.
Currently playing: Infamous, Resident Evil 5
Need to play: Shadow Complex, Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank: ACIT, MW2, Alpha Protocol
I think the crowd went the craziest for Zelda, then Mario, then maybe FF7. 15 years ago, in my most isolated video game geek days, I never would have imagined an event like that. It was great.

As for attire (if anyone was wondering, not to insult anyone's intelligence) it's best to be on the safe side and dress up unless you know it's casual. Ohio professional orchestras are pretty good, especially Cincinnati and world-renowned Cleveland, and I would wear a suit and tie to see them, so I'll probably wear at least a shirt and tie to this show. And pants. ...And nooow you knooow.
Also shows that game music performances can get accorded the same respect of any other orchestral production.
And if I got to see Dear Friends(FF) live, I would dress to kill.
In a way, this is kind of better. Not as much FF, sure, and there's bound to be some games I could care less about... but they're also sampling other serieses that I love. Always nice to see someone spreading the gospel.
Saw in Vancouver, and it was really well done.
Big screen with gameplay footage, cosplayers for entertainment and humour, and excellent music.
Was completley worth it.
