It was fate, the other day, when I was ducking and diving through people, running to the bus stop to catch the last bus home, and The End Run came on to my MP3 player.
I went back to play ME1 so I could have an infiltraitor and play through the games with the full Paragon path.
I was really expecting the last fight on Feros to be a massive PITA. Turns out that throwing elbows and then shooting stuff point blank with the sniper rifle works pretty well.
Can't get over how bad ME1 feels after just having finished ME2 though. Of course, that might mean that ME3 will make ME2 look bad, which I'm not seeing how that is possible, but damn would I not mind at all if it was the case.
So I can't decide whether to get the Krogun or pick up Sniper rifle training on my Vanguard playthrough. I'm actually pretty pleased with the Scimitar, so I'm leaning towards picking up the sniper. I'm also only playing on veteran, so I guess it doesn't really matter that much. Anyone have any thoughts?

Vanguard and Sniper are diametrically opposed concepts. If you enjoy the Up Close & Personal part of being a Vanguard, is Sniper really that valuable to you ? I took Assault Rifle so I could chew down enemy shields prior to Charging them into oblivion.

I took a Sniper Rifle so I had something more than heavy weapons and the heavy pistol when it came to the final boss, but the Krogun is immensely fun. Like it or not, you're a close combat specialist, and there are situations where you cannot charge an enemy to make the best of your shotgun goodness. I'd rather have a half-decent option for those situations than be S.O.L. but with an awesome shotgun.

Assault Rifle would honestly be better. I mean, I love the Widowmaker to death, but the AR is just so useful in so many situations, and really helps you burn down shields, barriers and armor in a hurry.

It's not a coin toss between Widow or AR - it's Mantis/Viper or Vindicator (Ethereal's playing on Veteran, so no Geth Pulse Rifle), and I'd still probably take the Mantis/Viper route.
Man by the end even on insanity, my team of Miranda, Thane and Adept Shep were insane...
Start off with a wide signularity, which despite armor and shields would cause most enemies to get stuck in the area, unable to do much then inch forward. Hit them with a heavy warp or wide overload with miranda. Now, one of them is bound to be down to just health and floating around in my singularity...unstable warp from Thane to cause everyone to go flying.
If there are survivors, they are likely down to just health, so a quick singulairyt-warp 1-2 from Shep would cause another bang.
Seriously, the floating platforms at the end were the easiest part int he game for me. Every time, the enemies went flying off in a matter of seconds.

Oh really, the Geth pulse rifle is only available on Hardcore and higher ? I figured I had just missed it all those times I was too busy shooting my way through waves of geth towards Tali's sweet, sweet voice.

Yeah. I would take the Assault Rifle over the Sniper for the vanguard too. Really, it is true vanguards big weakness is lack of long range options. But there are only a handful of sections where that is a big problems(ie, sections where Charge doesn't work).
That being said, Assault Rifle is just as good a long range answer as Sniper Rifle and it is good in other situations too.

The Vindicator is leaps-and-bounds a good AR to use. Good stopping power, damn good accuracy, my pet peeve is the three-shot burst. Low ammo capacity is a bit irksome but you can work around that. Still I'd rather have control over every shot and even greater accuracy.

Correct. I believe you can "cheese" it by setting your difficulty to Hardcore before starting Tali's recruitment mission, picking it up, then going back down to whatever difficulty you were previously using (although I haven't tested this personally).

Poor Jacob. Even his theme music is kinda bland and disappointing.

I'd go with the Sniper Rifle personally.
The Tempest SMG is awesome enough to deal everything that doesn't have armor. And the enemies with armor are the ones that Shotguns (Eviscerator) are best against anyway (plus Sniper Rifle of course).
I think I'm the only person who would like to be able to not carry a heavy weapon in exchange for maybe moving a little faster or something. I just prefer the look of Shepard during the opening before you pick up the grenade launcher and are stuck with it.

Yeah. But really...the only thing I would really want a long range weapon for is stripping defenses. And on a Vanguard, since you don't get all the sniper bonuses that Soldiers and Infiltrators get, I find controlled AR bursts to be much more efficient.

Ditto. I like Shepard's armor best without weapons.

I can totally see VanguardShepard charging into the Reaper's face and slowly punching the eyes out while it flails around in agony.

The new lightning gun kinda strikes me as a gun out of District 9. Except it's always pointing downwards. You look at the picture and you wonder why they're aiming it down, but then you realize it's just designed that way. Feels a little wonky to look at.
Yeah it looks more than a little strange. I hope that at some point down the line they release more modular parts for the N7 armor (or complete armor sets that don't feature a helmet).
one of the images for the lightning gun- looks like new armour. helmetless and everything.

I bet it's going to look terrible on female characters since that's just what BioWare does.

Oh wow, I'm a complete idiot. I didn't realize that choosing the Sniper Rifle or Assault Rifle upgrade on my Vanguard would mean that I'd be able to actually carry that weapon. I figured it would just upgrade those weapons in my party or something, which is why I chose the Krogun (which I don't like, by the way; reload time is too long).
Shit, now I think I'll have to go back and do that mission over just so I can get the Assault Rifle.

yeah, but it'll at least make shepard's titties look big

Downloaded the Arc thingy, but it doesn't seem to be appearing in game. I'm fairly early in game though, and have only JUST started my upgrades. But when I downloading anythign else so far it's shown up immediatly with a nice message from TIM.

30K of each resource, but the quad-barreled shotgun seemed worth it.
I'm really pissed though.
