Blood! Tits! Gratuitous swearing of every variety! An entire ancient empire populated with cockneys! Yes! It's back! Rooooooooooooome!
Friends! Romans! Countrymen! Lend me whatever loose body part flies off camera! And let's have some gigantic penises for good measure! This Sunday Rome is back for its second season, with no doubt some civil war goodness. Ahhhh.
Now, I'm not saying I've already seen the first episode of the second series, but if I had, fuck me that's some heavy stuff. Poor Vorenus.
I studied Latin for four years so I feel a little red.
It's so fuckhard to learn, I hate it.
'
Christ, you ain't kidding. I took Russian in school and had an easier time learning a completely new alphabet than I did conjugating a series of ten verbs in Latin. I honestly think that the Roman Empire would have achieved total conquest if not for the fucked up language everyone had to learn. No wonder the Picts were so pissed about having the Romans on their home turf; it meant 12 years of schooling just to buy a chicken.
i saw this picture and thought this was about 300 but then i had a brief glance at some of the words and i guess this is about something else i dont care about

I never learnt the cases. Most the time I would translate based solely on the context.

The cases are no problem, but the tenses, those are some bitches.

who here likes apple crumbles?
That looks like a horrible apple crumble.
it seems like the ones that actually photograph properly are either apple pies or some other kind of apple crumble

Cases and tenses in Russian tend to be fairly easy; most of them repeat. Besides, there's only one accent in any Russian word, so you could have a word that is literally 20 letters long with a chunk of four consonants right in the middle and it's no big deal because the rest of the word is kind of garbled and rushed. If you enunciate in Russian, it means that you're a stuckup-prick who doesn't belong in anyone's home. God, I wish You had given me that translating gig before I joined the marines; I'd be so much more wealthy right now. *sigh*
I've never seen it, but my boss is a history buff, and pretty anal about details and accuracy, and he loved it.
This sold me. Best Buy has the DVDs for $60 (as opposed to the usual $85) and you get a free disc with the 1st episode of season 2.
Picked that shit up on lunch.
It takes some liberties, mostly for the sake of pacing, but it's typically just stuff like leaving out some battles or secondary characters in the stories.
Because of these choices, though, the show moves pretty fucking fast. I dare say this show is a "can't miss thrillride" filled with "edge of your seat excitement."

It's very, very good. Imeansely well produced in every way, and as far as story telling goes it will have you on the edge of your seat every minute.
Um, not really. If you've seen the first season you're not going to be expecting a happy party of kittens and cream.
To be fair, not everyone know what a vocative is.
I studied Latin for four years so I feel a little red.
But he's adressing him and it's singular and and...
Yeah, it's no big deal.
Edit: Well, now it is.
To be foul, not everyone reads.

Pullo and Vorenus' stories are way better than anything going on with the Julii.
Which are nonetheless very, very good.
It felt really good.
