Okay, I think Chapter 12 is the best for money until post-game.
Farming the sacrifices for Perfumes -- it's their common drop, and they sell for 12,500 each. They're really easy to five star, too, so with the Item Drop+ accessory, you're pretty much guaranteed to get them
Is it true there's a teleporter in Chapter 13 that pops you back to the Chapter 11 area? So I could potentially continue on, open up more Crystarium levels, farm those creatures in Chapter 12, and then go back to the Chapter 11 area before the final boss?
Does Setzer die in a cutscene as an irrelevant cannon fodder character?
That reminds me: there is a lot of feathered hair in this game. In fact, my roommate made the same comment, and I told him they were auditioning for a hair metal band.
I now want my joke to be an actual plot development. Lightning would be lead guitar. Fang would be drums. Snow as lead vocalist. Sazh as bass guitar. Not sure what Vanille and Hope would take, though. Synthesizer and rhythm guitar, maybe?
Well they are talking about a sequel and we all remember FFX-2 so it could happen!

This time it should be a male J-Pop band, with Snow on Vocals, Hope on the Triangle and Sazh on the Saxophone.
You can also continue playing after you have killed the final boss as well.
I know, but I find when I beat the boss and the story, I don't have much of a desire to keep playing to finish any extra content left over. I just don't see a point in it. Shrug. Plus there are other games I want to start playing (Resonance of Fate) or beat (Lunar Silver Star Harmony, I'm like six or eight hours into this one).
Anyway, HOLY HELL Crystarium Stage 8 stuff is expensive.

Yeah, I have the same problem as you do as well. Once I beat a JRPG I never want to play it again.
Only one game has ever defied this and that was Dragon Quest VIII. God damn I loved that game.

I'm hoping to do most of what I can in Chapter 11, or get to Chapter 13 and use the teleporter to go back before I beat the boss. Once I'm happy with where my weapons and possibly accessories are (I haven't upgraded any of these yet), I'll head back and beat the final boss. Hopefully it'll be pretty easy to grind money, because Alex needs to finish his quest and become the next Dragonmaster! I at least want to get my weapons to tier 2 mastery.

I remember when I discovered the gold golems in DQVIII and I spent 9 hours grinding them for money and EXP.
Anyone else think this could be a really cool battle system for an MMO? Locked engagements like FFXI has (IIRC that is, it's been a long time), but also the ability to move the fighter would be nice too. Each person controls one toon and they could all change to whatever they have points in. I really like the flexibility of this combat system; I'd love to play an MMO where I'd only need one character to feel fulfilled.

There actually is an MMO with an incredibly similar concept. I can't remember what it's called, but each player has a team of three, with each person in the team having a more traditional class (healer, tank, mage, etc), I think you can control one of them, and the other two are AI-based.

Sword of the New World? Something like that. It's Korean but you're apparently European explorers in fantasy America.

Granado Espada. It was pretty decent, but you couldn't change classes on the fly.

Yeah, that's the one! They translated it, too. I played it for a couple weeks, but it was really laggy, so I dropped it. Really fun gameplay, though.
On the FFXIII front, how do you break the damage limit? Fang bumped up at it this last boss fight, and while it was nice seeing her do 99,999 each hit before we even got to the 999% Chain multiplier, it did make me think of how much she could be doing, too...

Wait, nevermind, I think Genji only gives you another 9 to play with. I don't think Eidolons can break 7 digits either.
EDIT - You get the gloves from later missions. 50+ range.
This is going to be one of those "you get them once you don't need them anymore" kind of things isn't it?
Yeah, pretty much. It's great for clearing out tough enemies real fast for 5-stars, though. Burn it down with a Rav/Rav/Rav to stagger and build up the bonus, then pop Highwind. The best farming in the game is those Sacrifices, though, and you hardly need it for that.

You didnt upgrade accessories ? o_O my two Power Gloves cost me a fraction of the tier 2 max weapons and give 250 strength each.

Many people don't realize that upgrading accessories is easier and actually better than doing weapons initially.

Death trick, what?
I think I read about that...
Going into battle with an Adamantoise (presumably with a couple sentinels), having Vanille debuff it as much as possible to up the Death %, summoning her Eidolon to topple the Adamantoise, and then just spamming Death, hoping to insta kill it

yeah, party of vanille, snow(sent). and a third. soon as the fight starts summon Gigagilgamesh to immediately disable the thing's legs and then have vanille spam death on it until it insta-dies. Drops platinum ingots, 40k cp and some rare crystal that you need to make everyone's ultimate weapons.
I would assume Vanille should be auto-hasted. Hope or Sazh might be good thirds, to give that buff that ups the chance of landing status ailments. If death chance is calculated that way, at least. Or, wait, you can get an Auto-for that too, huh?

Hope is your third guy probably. Have him give Vigilance, I think is the buff that increases your success rate.

Is this something that is repeatable? Where is this enemy and I'm guessing you get Gilgamesh after chapter 11?
Just finished the game at 51 hours. Amazing ending.
I have to say that no other developer can surpass Square in the pure artistry, beauty, and visuals they put into their games.... except maybe Blizzard.
I don't understand how critics could rag on this game so bad. I don't think it deserves anything less than a 9 out of 10.

seriously. when I started playing it my reaction was "Is this the same game everyone was bitching about?"
Yeah he's a real asshole. I found that I needed to keep him near staggered and then go for broke when he guarded. Once you get him launched with low HP it's all over red rover for him.
Edit: Is it me, or are a lot of people using Lightning/Fang/Hope? I've been rocking around with that party for a while and it does such a great job.
I used Sahz instead of hope, because at that point in the game I found the haste to be a lot more valuable. also the first order of business I had in that fight was to have someone to stick deprotect and slow on the boss. slow at the very least is essential though. Popping one of those battle pills before the fight takes care of your shell, protect, vigilence and what have you.
