Guys,he is not talking about an actual game mode.

They played 4 vs 4 because no one was on. It was just a normal conquest round.

That jungle map with the rivers and stuff was maybe a tad too big for just 4v4 conquest, but the others were perfectly fine. The way the CPs are laid out you'll nearly always run into the enemy squad, or at least spot them, when you move to capture a CP.

Then the Charlie Foxtrot is on.

So does anyone know for sure if the voice chat actually works in-game? I know last week there were rumors that it actually did nothing. I haven't been able to get into Angry for a while since I mostly play in primetime and don't stay on long to test. Which means I've basically been playing on the best pinging rush server I can find. All I know is when the pubby idiot squad mate keeps driving the 30% health tank away from me I ask nicely a few times over team chat to stop so I can repair it, and nothing. Eventually it ends up with me yelling some form of flarin flarn filth at him, but neither approach seems to work.

Also, I have played the game for a solid week (only an hour or two a night mind you) but have never once, heard another person in game say anything at all.

How fucking long has this game been out

    A week?

I'd love to hear more battlefield moments and less OP stuff considering it's been only a week

How about tracer darting an apache, pulling out my Carl Gustov(who is a classy fellow), keeping the sights trained on said tracer darted apache, imagining the warning bells going off in his cockpit about missile lock, watching him fly around erratically trying to avoid the missile he thinks is coming his way(but really isn't), and seeing this all turn into pay dirt as his evasive maneuvers send him into the side of a building?

You know, even though I suck at tank driving and it's not all that much of a help, god help me I can't resist sneaking into an enemy base and stealing one of their tanks.

It does kinda freak me out that there's a Battlefield game where people avoid using tanks, though.

I definitely noticed during beta that the game just seemed straight up less social than TF2 for example. But people on the Vent server seemed just as lively as usual.

I think they maybe need to patch in some team chat in addition to the squad channel. Maybe have it so you can switch between them on the fly or something.

    I know, solution = hardcore.

Never played call of duty have you? If you think the knife is bad in this game, try MW2. The knife isn't just bad... The knife is KING

Refuse to even consider that awful thing (PC gamer only here). Although it is fun to play 4 player splitscreen, Goldeneye style, at a friends on PS3. My background is CS, DOD, TF2, Quake etc :). I think the knife was done well in CS, main attack = fast stab, maybe 25% Hp damage, secondary = slow swipe, 60-70% HP damage and knife is separate weapon you have to pull out.

So guys, if you're, say, on a stacked team and you say something helpful like "Hey guys, the teams are uneven" and you don't, you know, switch teams, which might make it closer to even just so you can stay on the team filled with all your little PA friends, you're not actually helping very much.

A badass moment: I was a medic, and my squad all went down in a house. There were five enemies around and I had an empty long arm clip (G3 I think). I used the cover and ended up pistoling one, knifing two, and paddling two, while getting my squad back up.

Most Michael Bay moment: Similar scenario, on a MCOM station. Killed a bunch of enemies while on defense, the last of whom threw a nade. I was getting ready to mock their girlish attempt at an attack, when the building started creeking. I shouted a warning and tried to run, but then I got Michael Bayed to death.

Yea CS is always a good time. But in CS if you got up behind someone knife = instant kill. But yea I do miss the days when the knife was a separate weapon. Even though, from a logical standpoint, the system that is now "the norm" makes more sense.

Here's something nice. Trying to be super sneaky on the island map, I made it past the defenses to the havoc heli-pad and was going to get in and get me some of their chopper. But saw some guys spawning and running to it out of the corner of my eye so I crouched and hid and decided to just shoot it with the marker and have fun with it instead.

So I pull out my trusty dart pistol, pop around the corner line up a shot and 'doink' shot some guy running by right in the side of the melon with it... He turns to me and takes a couple shots and I start running away. But rather than chasing me down, he decides it would be better to get in the chopper and gun me down hollywood style.

So needless to say, I got out my rpg7 and shot him.... and the chopper down at the same time. /thumbsupbro

It works (on PC at least) but no one uses it and the quality is shit compared to Source games. Another problem is there doesn't seem to be any indicator on the HUD of who is talking. No idea how DICE missed that. It sucks because the game is a lot more fun when all 4 people aer communicating (e.g. 4 dudes on vent). At least in TF2 pubs people talk and it sometimes causes team work.

Does anyone use the shotgun tube for the assault weapons? I'm not sure I see the point, especially since you can one-shot people with grenade duds as well

Honestly I think the shotgun is kind of pointless. If it was the actual shotgun attachment(IE: the master key) then it'd be pretty useful. But 2 40mm shell is kind of a waste. It doesn't even seem to be that powerful. Was assaulting a point on port valdez, ran into the building with my shotgun tube out, nailed a guy in the chest who was like 10 feet away, and he just turned and hosed me down with his LMG.

This is why I don't even bother shooting someone if they're close... sprint, knife. A lot more satisfying and a hell of a lot more effective considering how many bullets it takes to down someone. Sometimes it seems like they do absolutely nothing... like when you spray at close range yet the guy is still standing.

You: A black face mask, RPG on your back, looking like a cross between someone in a jihaad video and the villain from an '80s low-budget horror movie.

Me: Ghillie suit, shotgun, who just stumbled into the room.

There you were, 15 feet away, just across the room, with the MCOM between us. The siren was flashing, and my ears were ringing and my vision blurred as the siren provoked the usual orgy of grenade spam into the building.

At first, I didn't recognize you were on the other team. You were huddled behind the MCOM, down on your knees, gun protruding from the console on top like a two-foot metal penis. I couldn't tell if you were trying to disarm the bomb I just planted, or offering me a blowjob. Your red text said "disarming the bomb" but your mask said "I love Mexican wrestling and gay midget porn from the '80s."

I raised my SAIGA and fired a shot square into your chest. You staggered to the side and fumbled for a clip to reload your [strike]gleaming metal schlong[/strike] SMG. I fired another shot as you lurched towards me at amazing speed, still trying to reload.

The second shot struck true, or so I thought, as you crumpled to the ground. Something was not right, though. I lay on the ground bleeding, seeing you squatting over my corpse, 3% health remaining. Combat knife, the computer screen claimed.

    "Fucking knife!" I shouted.

    You were reloading.
That fucking knife ought to be a weapon you have to switch to instead of an instant attack no matter what you're doing.

Tons of epic fighting. Shit lies in ruins when the game ends.

Wait.. Are you suggesting 4v4 conquest? Or like Squad DM where it's like 4v4v4v4

Yes, Conquest, one squad per side. Which is what we ended up playing for at least three hours on Angry Dome because noone else was online.

Goddamn that was epic on the day-time snow village map. No getting gunned down by a medic blob, lots of building-to-building fighting, flanking and ambushes you can't really do with a full 32 players because you'll just flank into another group and then it all goes Charlie Foxtrot.

This is so true. I enjoy 16 player matches a lot more than 32 player matches.

The best moment in BC2 for me was during Africa Harbor. I was playing engineer on defense and mining the shit out of the road leading to the second set of MCOMs. I'd gotten a bunch of kills from wayward tanks and quads running through them, but one managed to get through and was headed straight for me at the far end of the street. I was either out of bullets with my SMG or just emptied my clip, and whipped out my pistol just as I could make out the dude's class.

    medic

I knew that if I didn't kill him he'd not only have his squad spawn around him, but would also single-handedly diffuse all my mines and double-cap the MCOMs. Then he would proceed to hack my computer and steal all my porn and also the password to my bank account.

Luckily I had out my trusty 1911, killed him in time to side-step ever so casually to the side just as the quad went by. I also shot him twice more to make sure he didn't self-refib. damn medics
