Several retail stores have Orange Box available for cheap. I can order it in Europe for 18 USD.
It activates on Steam just fine.
I've been looking, the cheapest i can find anywhere online or in stores is like 24.99 which is too much for my wallet atm. In the middle of job hunting right now, unfortunately, about to be let go from my current job due to cutbacks.

Well, I own Invisible War now. If for no other reason than to see what all the fuss is about.
For those of you who are just now getting Deus Ex here are a few links for you
Deus Ex fixer- helps to get it running on modern systems http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/ It will also let you set a custom resolution for wide screen.
UI Fix- If you change the resolution the UI will scale with it. This tends to make it very tiny or big and ugly when you're using the larger resolutions so this should fix it. http://deusex2.filefront.com/file/OTP_UI_Fix;84991
Also liberty island is one of the hardest parts of the whole game due to the fact your so underpowered with no good weapons. Keep at it and you'll be well rewarded.
So, I have Trine and The Deus Ex Collection in my cart, and am on the verge of adding either Zombie Driver or Beat Hazard... What do you guys think?
There has been some good discussion of Beat Hazard, but has anyone actually played Zombie Driver?
The trailers look like it might be a mindlessly fun game I can jump into and splatter some guts. What are your impressions?
I actually like the alternate OpenGL renderer DLL better than the DX10 one, because it fixed the "Moving too fast" bug for me. I had that bug even after applying the fix.
I got Deus Ex many years ago for 10 quid, after reading so much praise on the PA boards.
I hated it almost immediately. I had a hard time getting past how dated it looked, and how dated it played really.
I really wish I could like it. And as such I am very tempted to buy it again for 3 quid. Anyone else play it for the first time during this sale and get on okay with it?
I like to think my maturity will allow me to appreciate the game's really good aspects this time around.

Zombie driver is a great game that was originally let down by a slightly shaky implementation - namely the shaky camera and the fact that realistic physics meant you couldn't pile into a crowd of zombies for long without their corpses slowing you down and the survivors ripping you to shreds. They've tweaked the former hugely to give you more options, and have largely rectified the latter by providing a looser and more over the top survival mode.
But honestly: they've gone to the trouble of providing a nice demo that doesn't take long to download - try it out! Few enough developers are considerate enough to even provide one nowadays.
Everyone one of you fuckers best have Deus Ex in your steam account now.
A real Deus Ex lover would [strike]still have the original disc and packaging. :P[/strike] buy it again on Steam.
I'd find it difficult to call anyone who wouldn't shell out $2.50 for the convenience of playing the game through Steam a "real Deus Ex fan". Invisible War? Eh, whatever.

Man, having a Steam list without Deus Ex and Half-Life 1 on it is like having a Windows install without Solitaire and Minesweeper. It's weird and unnatural and I choose to believe it doesn't happen.
Also liberty island is one of the hardest parts of the whole game due to the fact your so underpowered with no good weapons. Keep at it and you'll be well rewarded.
What? Admittedly, I've played it before, but I just non-lethally took out almost every NSF soldier on Hard difficulty with the riot baton, prod and tranquilizer darts.
is there any way to get the audio in deus ex to not sound like robotic ass
Have you played the part in Hong Kong or Paris yet?
All I've done so far is the tutorial
because god the audio
If it's the problem I'm thinking of, I've only been able to fix it by repeatedly quitting and restarting the game til it works cos sometimes it's fine and sometimes it isn't.
$2.50 is still a little too much to pay for Invisible War, but I picked up the package in case my GOTY disc of the first ever gets lost and if I ever want to see how disappointing the second was again.
Also yes it's the best game of all time so don't even.

So. Steam has just informed me that I'll be buying Deus Ex again. I can frame my original disk now, and play the Steam version without having to fuck around with an optical drive. Totally worth $2.50.
Hell, I may even get DX: IW. I've always had a masochistic streak.
If someone can gift me IW I would be happy to pay them back with something that doesn't suck in a couple of weeks. I'm super broke and won't get an advance until May.

All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.

DirectX10 for Deus Ex- makes things look a little nicer http://kentie.net/article/d3d10drv/

Wow. That's some dedication.
Its important to note the developer seems to be incredibly active with the PC version. He's already made a few changes based on feedback from people.
Well worth the price on steam.
That D2D GTAIV sale is very tempting. I've been thinking of picking it up lately. Is there anything weird about D2D I should know? I've never used it.
Steam Support is the worst. Seriously, the worst

Well, it's 3 quid for both? I think?
Oh wait, 1.50 each.
Jeez.
I've probably lost more than that down the sofa today.
The problem is that I'm -that- broke this week.
how did that happen.
I look at this thread and next thing I know I own the Deus Ex collection.

No, that's just how the VA is.

Futzing around with the options and restarting seemed to fix it.

Kind of a dumb move not having it in the options menu, Valve.

You can turn it off in some games, such as TF2 and L4D, but otherwise no.
