It's not just one. Several prominant Darkspawn are beginning to pop up and lead marauding bands to terrorize the countryside. There are also sightings of Darkspawn infighting, as some have split up into warring tribes. What has caused this is unknown, but there is speculation that the previous Archdemon was so powerful(laugh!) that when he died, some of that power spread into the Darkspawn, causing the horde to become more intelligent.
DarkWarrior: Have you heard the banter between Oghren and Anders, when Anders explains why all Mages wear robes? Hilarious.

I think I had that but it was between Anders and Nathaniel.
so why does half my dlc equipment vanish upon importing? was there ever a proper reason for this?
Which DLC equipment? If it's from the Stone Prisoner areas or Warden's Keep, it's going to poof. Only Return to Ostagar stuff moves over.
But if that stuff is disappearing, then I guess we've got yet another Awakening bug.
ive got some stone prisoner equipment thats not vanishing but my starfang and wardens keep shit is, the helm of holthen or whatever its called from the stone prisoner (named after the town from that) is not vanishing.
Someone needs to make a mod fixing the equipment not porting over. One possible reason for this happening could be because they did not make versions of the old stuff for the new companions to wear.

So...
You can port your character over to Awakening but you don't get to keep your stuff? Unless the stuff was from RTO?
damn i was going to get this but i think ill wait now, it seems like theres a ridiculous amount of bugs
reading the bioware forum theres all these mentions of graphical glitches, DLC (non return to ostagar) equipment transferring over for some people and for others not, equipment and gold just disappearing
I love the potential for min/maxing in this game. A tank who almost never gets hit? Check. A backstab rogue who got the 250 damage in one hit achievement? Check.
Man I am fighting the urge to go for a walkthrough so hard. I keep feeling like I'm just blundering through the game. I did use one to get all the stat increases through the Fade though.
That damn
dragon
on top the mountain with the ashes is bitch hard though. Enemies don't auto level, right? I figured I could come back later.

Enemies do autolevel, but only within a specific range. So for instance, an area may have a range of 8 to 13. If you are lower then level 8, then the enemies will be level 8. If you are higher than 13, then the enemies will be level 13. In between 8 and 13, they will be the same level as you.

What did you find hard about it? I don't think I even had to heal much during that fight. Once the thingies popped up I set Nate (and his blight wolf) and my Rogue-warden on them while my tank and Anders just kept plugging away at big bad.

This isn't exactly accurate. The enemies will auto-level with you within a level range, yes, but once you enter a zone for the first time, all the enemies in that zone will be locked into the level they're at. So if the dragon is in an 8-13 zone and you zone in at level 10, the dragon will be locked in at level 10, even if you leave and gain a few levels, then come back.

...huh?
If you're talking about something in Awakening I don't have that.
I didn't know Alistair was supposed to be a tank so he's not nearly as good as everyone says he is for me as I tried to build him like a generic warrior.

Ugh, I did it at 12, so I'll go back when I'm 14 or so... still need the scales for the "perfect" armor.

Eh, don't worry about it. Dragon Age isn't exactly an easy game and the
High Dragon
is arguably the toughest fight in the game. I had to zone out and come back to it later on my first playthrough as well.
Nathaniel
Howe Boe, I think he liked the Sextant as well.
er...
Oghren, the toy horse but only when he asks for one.
Valera, I didnt really get an approval increase, dont know if its bugged but I got a cutscene by giving her a blank diary I'd found.
Justice, Lyrium Ring, he really likes that, and Kristofs items you get from his room.
Honestly, best thing to do is quick save, give every gift to one person and just take mental note of which ones werer 6 or more then reload and give them to that person, save, repeat.

Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.
I accidentally manually installed the Gamestop preorder bonus, which my account is not authorized for. I know having "unauthorized" DLC installed doesn't really affect your game, but it still kind of bugs me. So I deleted that folder from "C:\Users\<my name>\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\AddIns". Which removed it from the in-game menu.
That's good enough, right? That shouldn't screw anything up?
I've got an Awakenings question. I spent my money, found the stones and ores, rescued merchents, fixed the mechanism, and brought back the sand, so I earned the achievement for having totally awesome impregnable Keep, but:
Its all completely useless if I don't agree to raze the city? As in I save the city, and my Keep is just destroyed 'cause I'm not there? Is there any way to save both? Come on, there's enough bombs and archers to hold the Darkspawn off, and enough ale casks to give Oghren the strength to cut their whole army in half. Just because *I'M* not there doesn't mean they can't hold out!

Yep. I did the same thing a few months back and that's exactly how I fixed it. No problems as of yet.
Hmmm, I think I'll go back with Shale, Me, Wynne and Morrigan. Morrigan has Cone of Cold and Wynne has Group Heal and Mass Rejuvenate.
You can get the Respec mod and change your characters around if you need to for that fight. Also, get a bit creative. I often see people using Shale as a tank, but Shale + Support Aura = Dead whatever you're fighting. I beat that fight with Shale, my main character who was a tank (I didn't use any tank skills on that guy, just out and out killing), the dog, and Wynne. I think I cast one heal with Wynne and used a poultice or two, but for the most part once Shale popped his support aura (which I had maxxed) it was a cakewalk without a lot of damage done to me.

When I beat Awakening, part of the ending was all the awesome shit my companions did at the keep while I was saving the city. I think the keep took some damage but withstood the attack.

Yeah that's sapped my Will to play, combined with the (admittedly Nitpicking) annoyance at protagonist revival
I think I had that but it was between Anders and Nathaniel.
That's wonderful. That last trophy was sitting there taunting me since I wasn't willing to do 75% of a playthrough for it.

Still, it defeats the concept of an expansion.
Looks like the game has a small case of the uggos.

Is this serious? Because the original characters in that thread are really horrible!
The size of the chins on some of those people amaze me.

Just remember that the solution to anything difficult in Dragon Age is more mages and that CoC is probably the best spell ever.
