Just thought I might show you what I did with Brushes on the iPad tonight:
The iPad version of Brushes is really something. Layers, opacity, and XTREEEEM zoom, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's about as close to photoshop as I'd want on a mobile device. The only sad thing is the lack of pressure sensitivy/option to use a pen, but otherwise it was a fun exercise.
Also worth noting is that the guys who designed that stylus have a video tech demo of using that exact stylus with proper pressure sensitivity. They're trying to get Apple to open up the private APIs necessary to make it happen.

I'm planning to do the iMac/iPad combo thing once the update arrives. I realised that the only thing I'll miss is playing my handbraked avi files while in bed...
Is there an App that can play AVI files yet?

i think that there are plenty of AVI converters to something that iTunes can handle.
if you'd rather have AVI on your iPad, yxPlayer claims to do exactly that, though I haven't tried it myself. the reviews seem to indicate that the playback framerate sucks, but we'll probably see something better soon since Apple appears to be approving alternative video players now
Airvideo on the iMac, and then every file in every format streams even across the Internet to your iPad.
Even over 3G.
It is beyond sexy.
BTW, syn, I got the Record 1.0 and Reason 4 upgrade this weekend. Lots of cool features but holy crap was the install/authorization a pain and omg took me, like, two hours to get the midi in and audio in to work initially.
Took about 90 minutes and I used 5 layers, including one last layer for colour overlay. I am really, really happy I bought it. I balked at the price initially, especially since I'd bought it for my Touch ages ago... But it's pretty much a night-and-day difference with the iPad screen.

Awesome!
I am setting up a big ass studio for someone right now with Logic at it's core, and superior drummer and reason rounding it out.
It's a blast.

Let's play Mario Kart or something...
i, too, look forward to the imac refresh
then i'll have a computer available to play newer games on
I guess they could bump the graphics card up, but I don't know what else they would refresh at this point.
I gather it'll be a small GPU bump and a shift away from the C2D processors. AT this point, it's more that I dont want to buy something that'll be upgraded in a few days/weeks/months.
I'm not expecting anything groundbreaking like the usual Blu-Ray, USB3, touch screen fans.
I do game on it, so I'll any GPU bump will increave it's shelf-life for me.

Ah fuck, scratch on my ipad screen
I guess I was asking for it by using it until I fell asleep with it for a month now
Also the bookstand is awesome. It really doesn't wobble when typing at all. Let's hope it doesn't break in a month
I've been routinely doing device testing for the past week with the iPhone 4 against the 3GS and iPad and ... I'm going to have a hard time bringing myself to spend money on a non-retina display iPad ...
It's unbelievable how awesome the retina display is.

there are way more scratches than i thought, where did these come from

like they literally just appeared
I can make out tiny little scratches on my iphone 4 screen in bright light, which is strange because I have been treating it exactly the same way as I treated my older iphones, ie. by itself in the same pocket in the same pants, same type of screen wipes. Gorilla glass isn't as good as older glass? Or I read somewhere that older iphones had a better coating? or something?

yeah I can only see them in very bright light at a steep angle
They're really small, light scratches and I'm not sur what could have caused that
I had the same dream, how bizarre. it wasn't a crack, it was a little BB-sized hole, and the device was functional besides there being a little crater in the glass.

..yes exactly.. and the crater was surrounded by little points that you could see as where the cracks formed..

And should apple roll this private API into UIKit at some point...

You start the server on your computer, and then you can access all of your video on your iPad from bed. It's awesome. And only like three bucks.
