Would this room be the right place to set up board games? Or would that be best suited elsewhere?
Well, the tabletop area runs from open to close they have many, many tables and plenty of games to check out and it's always at least a bit busy. If all you're looking for is a game, that's the place to go. But, if you want to make a big thing out of it, be a little loud, make it a crowd experience, this is the place to do it.
As for turning it into a big hangout room, none of the freeplay times are quite long enough to really make it all worth it. With setup time, you'd end up with very few minutes to actually have fun. However, it is an idea worth keeping in mind. Perhaps for Seattle.
I do think I'm seeing some rallying behind a Wii. Maybe with Brawl, Wii Sports/Resort, Raving Rabids 2 and WarioWare? I have no problem with a bunch of people gathered around a Wii in a manner worthy of a Nintendo ad.
and since the wii takes cube games you can have smash as well as brawl, as long as someone will have some controllers... i know there were a few ppl who mentioned it

I don't think there's any reason why we can't have both. The theaters are pretty big. Definitely big enough for a few TVs.
Big enough, certainly. But we'd have to transport (from CFP) and set them up between the last panel and freeplay beginning. Then we'd have to take them back before doors close. It wouldn't leave much time to actually use them.

I just watched Moon (got the DVD from Netflix), and I was blown away by that movie. Being it didn't have a huge release, and just came out on DVD recently, I bet a lot of people have not seen this movie. It has a big following already but it will be a classic once more people see it. Perhaps a screening is in order?

We make final decisions day-of. Info-desk will know. We like to have wiggle room in case something doesn't work or turns out to be lame or something.
not enough to make an avatar out of it, but HELL YES!
Yes.
