Member's Edge ripping me off. (Solved)

Ok, I belong to a couple of survey sites that pay me to take surveys.
Along the way, before I found some good ones, I found one that tried to make a profit by getting you to sign up for offers by businesses. I declined the offers and promptly discontinued my membership to this site.

Today, my mom gets a call saying that she's been signed up for this Member's edge voicemail program and that I had signed her up. She is being billed $29. She called me and I looked this company up online, sent them an e-mail and called them telling them that I had never signed her up for anything and any website that signed her up under my name did so illegally. They canceled her account and told me that I had one as well and I was being billed $38. I informed them that I had not signed up for an account either, so they said they would cancel my account.

I then asked them how, after I had declined this offer that they could sign me up without notifying me and how they could especially get my mom's contact info and sign her up as well. They had no comment other than I must have signed her up and that since I had to sign us up that I should be aware of the charges.

Let's get this straight: I don't buy shit online and neither do I sign up for services online unless it's for an MMORPG or Xbox live.

They assured me, however, that the charges would be credited to my account in one to two billing cycles.

I did some searches online and found hundreds of complaints posted on complaint.com saying these people consistently rip people off and sign them up for services they never agreed to. Every complaint I have read so far has said that this company promises to remove the charges or credit the account in one to two billing cycles of their phone service provider, but keeps "kiting" the charges and the charge doesn't disappear.

I called my phone company and advise my mom to call her's. When we asked our phone company to block these charges and refuse them, we were both told that due to FCC regulations they could not do that.

Here's another rub. They have set up voice mail accounts on our phones and people who call while we're gone leave messages on this voice mail and it does not go to our answering machines. You need a pin to access these voice mails, as well as an individual dial up number to access this. This company never provided either of us with this information and since we have canceled our accounts, refuses to do so, but says that this voice mail will also not disappear for one to two billing cycles.

Since I work with a contractor and don't have a regular M-F 9-5 job, I need to get my messages to find out about work.

How do I deal with these trolls? Anybody ever had this problem before?

It's been made abundantly clear that Ten O'Clock is time for Rainbow Six. It is not time for other games! You might think that it is, but it isn't. Don't show up at 10:05! That's not when it is. It is earlier.

Wow, thats crazy.. You should defiantly get the ball rolling on whatever processes it takes to report them through the Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org. Or maybe calling them first and threating to report them through the BBB could make them more compliant?

A temporary solution may be to get a prepaid cellphone so you can at least get your important calls.

Thank you, damn I can't believe I didn't think of that. I appreciate it.

Thanks for the other suggestions, too.
