    So it looks like a possible culprit in this, at least in my case, was Microsoft.

    Somehow I never heard about this last year, and sure enough it was enabled on my work PC that got infected.

    If you've ever installed the .net framework, it's there.

    At least now you can disable it, apparently at first you couldn't.

    fiancee got this exact same virus from a banner on a hair site. ran the cocktail of programs and bam gone. Thanks Penny Arcade!
