It's a good thing there's a beta to make sure situations like that don't arise then.
yes yes I know about the beta
but it isn't as though we've had everything solved by betas before
in fairness to blizzard though, when there have been balance issues after a beta, they're never so bad as to actually break the game. nothing that can't ever wait for a week or even till the next major patch.
It would make more sense if the whole thing was posted.
You have Defensive dispel and Offensive dispel. Defensive is taking maigc debuffs off allies. Offensive is taking them off enemies. They're giving everyone Defensive dispel, which makes me think that is the primary thing that new bosses will use.
I'm just wondering if since they're making dispels more expensive that they will find a way to get rid of a huge number of junk debuffs and make things like rogue poisons/DK diseases easier to cleanse off.
This shit just affects so much I can't help but think there are going to be some really big winners and really big losers.
All in all, the changes are pretty good. Nothing earth-shattering which is PvP kinda needs. But maybe this will do.
This will mainly make it so you don't get screwed in 10 mans as 90% of debuffs will simply be magic and in 25mans they may branch out a bit since you should have a better class mix.
With these changes in mind, we are working to plan dungeon and raid encounters where dispels aren’t in constant demand or spammed in order to be successful, though some need for dispels will still be a part of the design.
Yeah, just like "we're not going to be relying on Fear mechanics as much in Burning Crusade."

No, offensive dispels like Purge and Dispel Magic. I don't really understand why they lumped that in.
ah, ok. Also I never understood why Purge didn't work like Dispel Magic, it could be used as purging something bad from an ally.
It's because of the old "Shaman is offensive hybrid/Paladin is defensive hybrid" shenanigans. Shamans got an offensive dispel while Paladins got a defensive dispel.
Priests, as a primary healing class, got one that works both ways.

Yeah, just like "we're not going to be relying less on Fear mechanics as much in Burning Crusade."
At least we see it less in Wrath (other than Ony).
So..what expansion is after cataclysm?
;-)
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us
The new dispelling is pretty simple:
# All Druids will be able to dispel curses and poison. Resto druids can also dispel magic.
# All Paladins will be able to dispel diseases and poison. Holy Pallies can also dispel magic.
# All Priests will be able to dispel and purge magic as well as remove disease as long as they're not in Shadowform.
# All Shaman will be able to purge magic and remove curses. Resto shammies will also be able to dispel magic.
# All mages will still be able to remove curses.
# All warlocks' pets will still be able to dispel and purge magic (if they have the ability to, that is).
# All hunters' tranq shots will still be able to purge magic.
# Everything else is the same.
Have they said anything further about bringing back CC? I didn't really play BC, but when I came back for WotLK, I was really surprised to see that no one really used sap, polymorph, or related spells anymore in dungeons or raids.

They've said something about making stuff less "gather and AoE", so there's probably gonna be more need for CC. Probably not drastically much because people are stupid, but some amounts here and there.
We use CC for 25-man ICC, but only for the Blood Halls trash. We also use it in 10-man, but it's not necessary. The raid leaders just like being cautious.
I was thinking, most of my waits in /random on my hunter are due to tanks. Most of my wipes are due to bad tanks. I am a tank. I'm a pretty darned good tank, even if I don't know the instance, I know how to ask, follow instruction, not stand in fire and follow markings. I could be in full t9 by the time i'm ready to start heroics. That'd be freaking amazing.
Follow up question. Is it just 2 emblems for the first /random and then gold/gear? or how does that work? I've only done bc randoms and heroics.
With normals it is 2 triumph emblems the first time and then only gold experience after that, but heroics give you two frost emblems and then 2 triumph emblems.
HoR is much easier if people use CC. The "hide in a corner" strategy can be very annoying camera-wise.
I hate that corner crap with a passion.
It's much, much easier as a DK since I can grip ranged shit into the corner or taunt and launch a couple death coils. I dunno what the fuck I'd do on my druid. Using CC isn't that hard unless you get really screwed on the group makeup.

if you have the fortune of getting a priest in your group it makes doing it the non-corner way rather trivial. have them shackle one of the ranged mobs, preferably the marksman. burn through the rest as normal. But sans that, yeah the corner thing is probably ideal. I just don't like it because it makes my camera do screwy things.
Shackle, Turn Evil, Freezing Trap, Entangling Roots (there's at least one melee per group), Repentance, and even shorter stuff like Blind can be useful at the start of the pull.
So long as you get a hunter, priest, or paladin it's fairly doable.
Beginning Wednesday, April 7 we will begin releasing class previews containing an overview of some of the changes currently being planned for each of the 10 World of Warcraft classes. The type of information you can expect from these posts are a list of the new spells from 80-85, the new passive mastery bonuses for all talent trees, a brief outline of some of the talent changes we're currently planning, and in some cases new low level spells for select classes.
These changes will by no means be comprehensive, and are subject to change between now and the launch of the expansion. It's also important to understand that some classes are currently further along in the development process than others, and as a result the amount of information will vary from class to class. Please do not let this frustrate you should your class be amongst those which are on the "lighter" side of things, as all classes will receive the same level of design attention before the expansion is released. Additionally we'll be providing more information for all classes, especially as we move into the beta phase.
Below is the schedule for each class:
Shaman - April 7
Priest - April 7
Warlock - April 7
Warrior - April 8
Death Knight - April 8
Rogue - April 8
Hunter - April 9
Druid - April 9
Mage - April 9
Paladin - April 16*
These posts are being coordinated internationally so they'll be posted at different times throughout the day and night on the given dates to give players around the world the ability to see posts made at a convenient time. This thread will be updated with links directly to each class preview as they're posted.
*The paladin is still deep in development. Instead of giving a preview that would be potentially less comprehensive than the other classes we made the decision to post it when it's ready, in order to properly honor the paladin class and those that play them. The wait isn't too long however as we're expecting to be able to post it on April 16.
Sucks to be a paladin. Hopefully the mage preview will be more fulfilling than the Q&As as a whole.
Fixed. They were utter garbage that didn't give much information at all. Good idea with awful execution.
Oh jeeze, don't remind me. "let's answer questions from the community! Yeah! Here's 18 questions to things everyone already knew and 2 things we don't really answer. What's that? A meaningful and interesting question? Sorry, out of time!"

There was a mage question about whether people would be allowed to choose between robes and tunics. Yeah.

And how about if there's an option to choose between tunics and bikini armor, for either gender.

well you've got that ret pally ability, I think, but they're too busy randomly slamming buttons to do anything else.
