I would like to take the time to post two map imbalances that have yet to be pointed out; I have no idea why whoever designed these maps didn't notice these during playtesting, but yet again the powers that be at relic decided to have tzeentch marines all have weaker version of a plasma gun. That was a wonderful idea right?
The 2v2 map Desert showdown each has two victory points that are awkwardly placed in the sides of the map. The northern point can be covered completely by an artillery unit placed just outside the base; so unless you charge it with a walker-type unit you are not getting close to it. I do not believe you can do the same for the southern most point. So essentially, the players on the top of the map have the disadvantage in trying to hold the victory points. The game I had on here also made me realize that spore mines just don't do enough damage to units in buildings, I got a whole squad up to the building with 2 teams in it and both survived the blast; Our opponents continued to put units in that building and several tests confirmed... I have to sacrifice two disposable units to clear out a single team?
Let's say the 3v3 map, Argent Shelf, has a north-south orientation. The northern most team has the elevated platform for their victory point, one of their power points, and one of their requisition points. The southern most team has a power point, req point, and another power point all in line at the edge of this platform, with their victory point just south of them. Facing these points, are two bunkers that have 360 degree firing arcs, but their backs face the wall of the raised platform. There are no such buildings on the platform facing the northern most points. If 3 competent players wished to dominate that map, they can because they can just baby sit the southern teams points with as many set up teams they can place in and around those bunkers supported by the appropriate units; My case? the only way to flank these buildings is on the north side of the map and the only way to really get there without facing the fire from either of these bunkers is to march your armies past the south victory point and up the ramp to the north platform.
Thoughts comments?
I do think that units in those bunkers on Argent Shelf can shoot units on top of the hill, but I could be wrong...
...and you can flank them from the north by squeezing up the "natural" ramp just northeast of the bunkers. You might get shot at, but you should be too far away to worry about casulaties/overlong suppression.
Well, I finally beat Last Stand with a pair of sorcerers (go figure that two chaos lords would own wave 20's face). We only got about a million points, because they had trouble staying alive, but I was able to keep the game going with my conceal farseer.
Speaking of achievements, I finished the game tonight. Upon slaying the boss at the end the game chrashed to the desktop however. Which kind of sucks when you have time for exactly one game.

If your lucky, you can load up that save and it will show you the ending and give you the achievements. It did in my case.
Hey Croak, did QA find this bug in last stand? Take bioplasma on the tyrant and hit any enemy inside a vengeance orb with it; hilarity ensues.
Hint:
The tyrant dies almost instantly if it hits more than one or two enemies.
Also Shep said another bug with bioplasma is the tyrant will never fire it if he's standing in the indestructible green cover just outside the top right spawn area. I think that's how he described it but I may have gotten it wrong.
Really liking the plague champion as hero in the expansion.
Had a great game last night where I popped his third global power, the one that brings back enemy units as zombies when they die. Basically wiped out this apothecaries entire army before he realized the space marines with the green circles under them were not his troops.
In 1 v 1 playing chaos lord feels broken especially if he is escorted by a group of cultists. Popping worship basically makes the chaos lord unkitable (Except fleet of foot gaurdians). This really makes it difficult for people to kite him around while shooting him.
Cultits are extremely fragile though. Had two groups with grenade launchers and a scout marine snuck up and chucked a grenade on to them. By the time I hit retreat the grenade went off and wiped out both groups. They didn't have the aspiring champion, but still really brutal.
Finally, in most team games I never go Tier 3 with the plague marine. The great unclean one is great, but he chaos predator isn't that great and I would rather just take that req and power and get a dreadnaught. Is there really any reason to go Tier 3 as the plague marine? I know he has one piece of gear there, but I am not sure if its worth it.

I'll pass that on.

I try not to abuse hammerheads too much. I do abuse the shit out of crisis suits though. It is hilarious to play a melee army as tau and watch them play 'chase the devilsfish' trying to get to you.
I always feel dirty for saying it, but Dark Eldar were my first TT army, and the one I always pull for. Though I cant say I was very impressed with their implementation in the Dawn of War Soulstorm.

I think the tau would be a great looking army with the essence 2 engine with all their pewpew.
Also I have a soft spot for the sisters of battle because I like flamers, but I suspect they won't ever get a look in again

Why not just have a Grey Knights army, and have an IG squad be their primary Tier 1 unit...not sure how that fits with the fluff...but I think you can get more interesting stuff out of a Grey Knights army than an Inquisitor lead IG army.
I dunno. Grey Knights are cool and all but in the end it's just more SPESS MEHREENS. I think Tau or Necrons would be up next.
Well, obviously I'd like Tau, as it's my TT army. I was just saying as an alternative to Inquisitor led IG, Grey Knights sounds quite a bit more interesting.

We have one guy that plays Necrons at my local GW store, and he's kind of a douche. So my impression of Necron players is that they are all d-bags. The tiny sample size will not detour me from my conclusion.
Kinder when you do your fancy interview, can you ask if Relic is going to try the patch beta thing again? It might avoid some of the more glaring imbalanced like lightning claws from making it to live.

Having played with a few of them, they are pretty much universally douches. 1000 point army with Nightbringer and a Monolith are par for the course.

Is there just a high correlation between 'plays Necrons' and 'is a douche-nozzle'?
I know a few, and only a couple are nice. Most are jerks, one to the point of oughtright cheating.

Maybe theyre just sillydouches because theyre pissed that the new edition turned most of the necron army into a joke.
BTW Croak, will we see the final patch notes before it goes live?

You kinda have to take a Monolith if you want to have a chance when half the choices in your army list range from bad to awful
Imperial guard has a lot of potential, but they rely a lot on armor. With the games vehicle path finding it would be a cruel joke to have an entire IG army. With an inquisor leading it, you could have a bunch of the good parts of IG, including the infantry, mortar teams, some the tanks, as well as storm troopers, assassins, daemon hosts, etc. No Grey Knights and just have the inquisitor be radical. Not sure what you would do with the heroes though.

You could make a drinking game every time the player counter drops to 1 of 4/6, and black out before the second match.
Though tonight you'll probablly go under before the first...
