Does he still have sans-culottes and germinal? Other then one screen shot of him glowing green I haven't seen that move being referenced at all.

Yeah, Ash's movelist is pretty beefed up at this point. Germinal has been changed to seal the character's super bar and hyperdrive bar, rather than just sealing all special moves.

    Flash kick : charge d, u + K
    Projectile : charge b, f + P
    Kain attack : charge b, f + K
    Flame kiss: qcb + P/K

    Super kick : qcfx2 + K
    Super projectile : qcfx2 + P
    Sans-Culottes : A B C D (2 power stocks)
    Germinal : qcb,hcf + P (when in Sans-Culottes mode)

    NeoMax : hcbx2 + BD

He has more DMs than any other character.

    Dayum.

    DA. YUM.

His EX moves look to have some pretty fun properties too. Juggling with EX flame kiss and all that.

    Might give him a try.

Stupid Ash having so many DMs.

I'm guessing Max Cancels work a lot like XI's Dream Cancels?

Yeah, basically. The only differences are...

    - It costs more bars. Dream Cancels required three, while Max Cancels require at least four (five if you use an EX DM).
    - Dream Cancels required one skill stock, while Max Cancels require you to be in Hyperdrive mode, which makes it a bit similar to 2002's HSDMs.
    - Any character on your team can perform it as long as they have enough bars (in practice, this means your first character can't do use it).

So you have to be in Hyperdrive mode? Is that confirmed?

That said, I like that it's not super easy to get Neo Max's for stupid damage.

You need to be in Hyperdrive mode in order to do Max Cancels (canceling into your Neo Max).

In order to do your Neo Max you need to be in Hyperdrive mode OR have a full Hyperdrive gauge.

Basically, you either use your HD gauge to give yourself more combo options into your NM, or you sacrifice all of it in order to catch your opponent by surprise.

When I first tried the game out, I was expecting EX moves to cost half a bar in the final build. But since then they've been made much more useful-looking. So yeah, them costing one bar seems like a good call.

I still wonder about how move-balance is going to work with some characters though. Robert and Kensou for example both have a:

    full screen projectile (free)
EX full screen projectile (1 bar)
    DM projectile (1 bar)
    EX DM projectile (2 bars)

And I'm not sure why you would want the EX projectile over the DM projectile if they cost the same.

SRK or Orochinagi. SRK is bigger, but Orochinagi is a bit friendlier and really knows their stuff.

To be fair he looked like a woman in XII. Other than that he's not much different from your anime pretty boys. And even in XII he doesn't really look that much like a woman.

Seems ex moves are of the Melty Blood variety, which I can dig.

I'd have to guess that the main difference in their use compared to DMs is that you can cancel into DMs at times where you can't (without cost) cancel into ex moves. And probably damage as well.

He totally looked like a friggin girl in XI and XII.

I mean, he even had a girly headband to hold back his hair for christ sakes.

Literally in every instance he's wearing a women's headband.

I'm still not sure if that's a female cosplaying or a male cosplaying.

I'll just keep thinking it's female.

    For my sanity.

Actually from what I've seen cancelling into DMs require half of the hyperdrive guage too. I'm not sure how accurate that is though.

Not just from specials. It's always been a big deal which command normals you could cancel into DMs.

But I doubt the overlap between DMs and ex moves of the same purpose will be that great anyway, so it doesn't seem like a big deal.

Ash is still dreamy and manly, no matter what the haters think.

those punch chains were effing baws.

I miss Geese the most though.

Oh how much fun it was to Repukkan and in kof02' I could do a 12 hit combos into his blue ultra (sequences of punches and kicks timed correctly) and right before I landed the last hit of the sequence combo, I did his raging storm to finish it off.
