I'm just getting into KOF after watching match videos of 13 from Arcade Infinity, but man i think i die inside everytime i see a Raiden. I know charging the dropkicks limits you, but so far i haven't seen a lot of people have a problem with that.
And yes, i'm a complete KOF noob.

This has been released early on Xbox. You can download it now. I hear some people having issues playing it, but others don't. Also the online doens't work yet. But hey, you could get some practice in at least!

Must have been some sort of accident. It's not under new releases, but if you search for it you can find it. Definitely looks like a "whoops we weren't supposed to activate this yet" sort of thing.
Vanessa and Blue Mary? Fuck yeah I'm downloading it!
Of course, the irony is that I already have the Xbox release of KOF2002/2003 that came out a few years ago, but I haven't played it in years. Anyone know what kind of differences we'll be seeing here?
KoF2k2UM is different from that version of 2k2, which is vanilla kof2k2. It just added alot more characters. Base system is still pretty much the same.
As soon as the kiddies take their naps, I'm gonna be all over KoF2k2. It's downloading as I type this, and the little one is throwing a cranky-cuz-he's-tired fit.

- Nearly every character got new moves.
- Some characters got new sprites.
- All the backgrounds are new.
- All the music is new.
- All the character art is new.
- Charge times in max modes have been removed, which makes several characters much more viable.
To put it another way, if any other company had made 2002UM, they would have called it a sequel rather than a remake.
Can someone report whether the bosses are unlocked from the start, and how good the translation is (in other words, it's not still in Japanese like KOF98UM)?

Didn't meant that it only characters, just saying that it's the most noticeable and biggest difference.
Didn't really know about charge time in max, though that because I don't really play much charge characters. It's the same for the hyperdrive system in 13 isn't it?

Unfortunately no. Charge times are still the same, but they're pretty short in the game overall.
Although Ash still has Sans Culotte, which is his super that removes the charge time on his moves.
There were actually lots of other adjustments to the 2002 system, but I can't remember all the details. But it's overall a much, much better game. That's all anyone really needs to know.
I know Rugal, Zero, etc., aren't unlocked from the start, and there's also an achievement for unlocking all the hidden characters. Got the unlock strat from GameFAQs boards.
Spoilered for cheats:
Fight them and unlock them:
Mid Bosses
Foxy or Angel - Finish the first 4 Stages normally (no Supers)
Kyo-1, Kyo-2, or Kusanagi - Finish 3 of the first 4 Stages with a Normal Super

Nameless - Finish 2 of the first 4 Stages with a MAX2
Final Bosses
Krizalid - Finish Stage 5 normally (no Supers)
Clone Zero - Finish Stage 5 with a Normal Super
Original Zero - Finish Stage 5 with a MAX Super
Igniz - Finish Stage 5 (or the stage after the mid boss battle) with a MAX2

ALTERNATE UNLOCK STRATEGY:
Fail at challenge modes.
EX Kensou and Challenges 11-20: Fail 30 times
EX Robert and Challenges 21-30: Fail 50 times.
EX Takuma and Expert Challenges 1-19: Fail 100 times.
Nightmare Geese, Bosses, and Expert Challenge 20: Fail 300
Excellent. I've watched the "How to play KOF if you're coming from SF" but they don't explain little things like what all the A,B,C,D buttons do and all their combinations.
This is a whole new world for me.

I just watched some KoF 13 footage, and it really bugs me how there are still basically no winposes in this version. I really hope they get added for console.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

There are win poses, just that the players usually skip to the next round before the characters can do them.
Really? I don't think I've seen one yet. I miss Joe going "Yosshaa!".

The second semi final match has screwed up sound, so I recommend waiting on a fixed version.
Some good Mai play. It's a nice surprise to see her in the finals.
Still good matches.

I GET MY VANESSA ON XBOX 360!!!
This is a wondrous occasion. I love sprited MILFs who can box. However, not only can she box, she can do it better than Balrog and Dudley!
The Raid
Must have been some sort of accident. It's not under new releases, but if you search for it you can find it. Definitely looks like a "whoops we weren't supposed to activate this yet" sort of thing.
Edit:
The box art isn't even there yet.
If it's better, than I might still get it.
Playable.
And Angel and Blue Mary!
My dream team is complete.

Try playing it on a different account for now, a silver one at that. Seems to make the game work for now. Won't be officially released 'till Nov. 3rd.

The framerate is also better than BC for KOF2002 for oXbox.

It explains the gameplay of KOF much better than text can. If you have any more questions, please ask.
