Yeah, I know. I just feel bad about blowing her brains out infront of a bunch of children. Silly, I know.

That's why I always "let her go" and then have a merc blow her brains out behind the warehouse when she's leaving.

I never had any problem with just beating the living crap out of her in the factory. Show the kids sweet, sweet revenge + build up STR/DEX? Win/win!

Also I recall Dmitri being extremely stupid and hating him:

Wait, I thought Barry was a lockpicker? Or am I thinking of a different 'B' named merc?

Neither Fox (mech skill is shite) nor Barry (mech isn't quite good enough?) could pick the locked door in the Drassen child-labor factory or the one at the first SAM site. No big deal, though, I think I'm gonna get Wolf or Gasket or something.

I'm think Dext is the main stat for lockpicking, she has medical training then. Most of the Roachburns other than Larry were good in the original games, though the sister was a bit whiny.

Its a shame that Leech didn't stick around for the 2nd game, he had incredible shooting and was dirt cheap, only problem was he got a little side tracked about people shooting at them. Same with Fidel.

If you want Lockpicking, the man to see is Magic.

    PRIME.

The one guy I was really sad to see not around for the 2nd game was Snake. He was fucking awesome.

    Oh, and Reuben

He's ruthless because he killed his faimly with a cordless hedgetrimmer.
He's Unusually Ruthless because he recharged the appliance during the assault.

    Twice."

Postie was another one that had personality. And what I found surprising was that they had the guy from inside the dinosaur suit. Same voice, but damn if he was a stable explosives guy.

Doesn't look like anybody covered it, so...

Hi, I bought Jagged Alliance on Steam! Basically the problem is that the finances don't work. Whenever you click on the Finances part of your laptop, your money always resets to 45,000 regardless of how much you had before that. Aside from that the game doesn't do Finance math correctly anyway (like, if you spend 10k it'll take some other random amount) and it ends up being too hard to hire mercs or train militias without planning around the glitch. It really is gamebreaking. I had issues when I ordered weapons, too. Well, not so much an "issue" as "I wasn't getting them"

I'm still kind of pissed that I wasted that money.

That might explain why, in the beginning of the game, I always had trouble getting decent support from Drassen.

Does support = loyalty? I have 100% loyalty in Drassen.

I poked around on the intertubes a little and couldn't find anything to support what I said about killing Doreen, so maybe I'm just full of shit. You get a loyalty boost from killing her, and apparently it doesn't matter if the kids see it or not.

Though, it is fun to let her off the hook and then have a firing squad of mercs ambush her behind the factory and chase her down. It usually takes a couple shots, so it's a race to finish her before she runs off the map.

Well, there's Silent Storm, but even then it's only the combat engine. JA2 has a whole side of gameplay centered around the logistics of taking over a country.

    Also, X-com.

Silent Storm is indeed pretty bitchin'. Not as good as this, of course, but still good.

Just started a new game with 1.13, I was a little suprised to see Bobby's selling insane guns right at the beginning of the game. :| Guess I should have chosen a lower setting. Picked up a nice VSS and snuck around Drassen popping heads in the night. Good stuff.

Smaller stores with a decent backstock?

Search any place you know of that has a large backstock of PC games.

I picked up Wildfire about 1 1/2-2years ago (and lost the Wildfire disc, but no big loss) and now I'm enjoying the 1.02 Gold version on Gametap.

Otherwise, your best bet would be Amazon, Ebay and Steam I guess.

I spotted a pack that had this, Giants, Sacrifice, MDK2, Fallout 2 (I think) and a couple of other games. (I should really buy that pack next time I buy some games...)

This was in Australia though. And don't quote me on those games I might be mixing it up with another pack, I think JA2 was in it. But it's definitely been part of several big packs of old games. Apart from that try amazon.

That can happen sometimes, so it might not be a glitch. You can bribe the guy at the airport or threaten him (I think) but if you kill him he gets replaced by a guy that loses even more shipments.

Its being ported to the DS as well. I can't wait, since Jagged Alliance on the go will relieve me of needing any other games for a long long time.

And drunk Roachburn is indeed awesome.

JA2's gold pack has been re-released as a part Softkey's budget range. But I don't know if whole range is limited to Europe. Here is the picture of the cover:

Hmm. I wonder if this is fux0red like the Steam version.

Edit: Does anyone have any tips on moving squads (day or night) through occupied sectors? I am tired of walking into bullets. And crawling every square and stopping to wait for noise/enemies is tedious. Also, my merc is night ops/stealth, and I have Igor (stealth) and Wolf (night-ops), but I find it difficult trying to move them all forward and fanned out to keep my merc from crawling into a flanking shitstorm.

And what town do you guys go for after Drassen/SAM 1? And can I take a mine in a town if I don't control all sectors of said town?

    Arg!

This game is kicking my ass, between the situations where I have to take a town with ... 5 guy vs 100 of their soldiers and the constant stuck in opponents turn loop.

Its really fun so far, im using the 1.13 patch which adds some nice stuff, but ive had to restart from the beginning like 4 times now.

Anyone got some tips on how I can possibly not get my team's balls chopped off at the first sign of 100 soldiers.

Why wouldn't Steam just include a pdf of the manual?

Hmmmm, if you are overwhelmed, you might be in the wrong area. But early on, I think fighting at night is easier since you can't really afford mercs that can reliably hit targets an any kind of range. This leads to you being shot and wounded far too often. If you have a few or even 1 merc with enhanced night vision you can often get off a nice head shot with a silenced weapon and no one will be the wiser for it. Finally in the beginning you should be fighting against unarmored people so try and find some hollow points.

Actually, 1.13 makes the drassen counterattack absolutely insane.

Probably because the AI can simultaneous attacks from different sectors. As well, the fact that if there's too many to fit in a sector (I think 32 is the max), they come in as reenforcements.

Yeah, I just figured that out.

Its easier now that I have roaming militia to take out their bulk forces, so when I invade a city there isnt so many enemy militia there to deal with.

well, there's an .ini file where you can edit that out.

The massive Drassen counterattack was something that was originally taken out, I'm assuming because that many elites that early in the game was too much to handle. 1.13 decided to re-enable it, which made things worse now that they can call in reenforcements from adjacent sectors.

Granted, when you're being careful enough, 5vs100+ fights can be goddamned epic.
