I'm actually consideing selling my Wii and picking it back up when there are more games to play. It's more a financial decision than anything else, but it only ever really gets used when people are around who want to play Wii Sports.

So no, it's not just you.

I have to say I've used my Wii way more for GC games than Wii games, and I've spent two hundred fucking dollars on Wii games.

It just recently hit me that four games are two hundred dollars new. And while I love love love Elebits, Budokai 2, and Excite Truck, the only game truly worth what I paid was, I think, Zelda.

On the other hand, I've spent maybe $100 or less on GC games, and I've got like fourteen or something like that and I fucking love it. Some of them made me remember how much I love FPS. Future Perfect, I'm looking at you.

I beat Killer 7, Metroid Prime, Killer 7, TimeSplitters 2, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, and RE4(I borrowed this one so far)
I've still got Baiten Kaitos, Legend of Zelda; Wind Waker, Chibi-Robo, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Fire Emblem: PoR, PN03, Viewtiful Joe 1, Viewtiful Joe 2, and Tales of Symphonia still left to beat.

My Wii will be busy for a while. Although oddly enough, the GC games I've played so far make me want to buy a 360 more than anything else because there are like, three FPS on the Wii so far, and while I'm convinced it's a better control scheme because of using the bow and hookshot in Zelda, there are tons of good FPS on the 360. I don't regret my purchase, it just makes me want to purchase more stuff. Damnit.

i am just waiting for galaxies.

    and ssx blur.

    and ... just...more games.

    i have
zelda (great. just... great. you go in an out of liking the gestures.)

excite truck (holy shit hard. but really great. i never understood what people got from arcade racing games. now i know.

elebits. (this game underwhelmed me SOOOO MUCH. i read about how great it was and almost came back to curse you all. then i made it do outside levels. yes. yes indeed. but FUCK black elebits. and FUCK not breaking shit. and FUCK BEING QUIET. sorry...i needed to vent.)

i have no VC games and i bought pikmin (which i have beaten before)

it sounds to me like you dont dig the controller becausae you think it is to blame for how little compelling software is out.

i think you are right, in a way. if it had more buttons, developers would have had less to figure out. but the whole 'early adopter' thing really is to blame.

Why are people always so fucking suprised at a drought of games a month after the launch of a new console? It's goddamn par for the course here. The DS had a shitty first year. The 360 had a shitty first year. The PS2 had a shitty first year. The Xbox had a shitty first year. The Wii and the PS3 are going to have a shitty first year. It's not the fault of the console, it's a fact of life. If you can't handle the droughts, then stop being an early adopter.

I don't know that I agree with that on the 360. I mean, it's been out for what? A year and a month or two? And in the first year, it got Gears of War, Dead Rising, Oblivion, Viva Pinata, Geometry Wars, and the best versions of several quality multiplatform titles (my personal favorite being Burnout: Revenge). Seems like a rather solid first year to me.

Then again, I don't think the Wii's opening lineup was particularly bad at all. Wii Sports is a revolutionary game. Zelda & Trauma Center are enhanced versions of games that were already fantastic. Retro fans have the Virtual Console & the Metal Slug Collection. WarioWare & other games provide plenty of mini-game fun for parties. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is a quality Action/RPG (although available on other systems as well). Admittedly, there isn't much coming in the next few months, but it seems like the launch titles & Virtual Console should provide enough enjoyment in the meantime unless you went crazy and bought half a dozen launch titles to begin with.
To be fair though, only two of those games, Oblivion and Dead Rising actually came out before the year was up. And I don't count XBLA titles just like I won't count VC titles.

Oblivion and Viva Pinata both were released in the 360's first year. Admittedly, they just barely made it (Nov 7&9 versus November 22nd for the system), but they were 1st year titles. And I don't see why original downloadable titles shouldn't count; it's not like Geometry Wars is a port.

Nintendo really needs to hurry up with that gun handle attatchment they were talking about. I've only played Red Steel and Wii Play that involve shooting so far but using a remote as a gun feels kinda weird.

Are there any light gun games coming out for Wii? I cant think of any, maybe developers are delibirately avoiding them because of the "OLOL its a lightgun" reaction some people had to the remote.

Having played the Metroid Prime Corruption demo, I can at least put your mind at ease a bit... it's fucking awesome. The controls just work, much like they do in Far Cry (even if the rest of the game is crap).

Have you tried Rayman, Super Swing Golf, or Wii Madden? They are all awesome IMO.

I'm normally not one to buy sports games every year (last football game I bought was for the dreamcast) but Madden on the Wii is a ton of fun.

Rayman is a great collection of mini games. Some are kind of meh but a lot of them are great and funny.

Super Swing Golf blows Wii Golf out of the water. The swing control works well and if you don't want to play it that way there is the traditional button style that works just like PC Pangya.

Also, I can't wait until we see a game that pushes the Wii to it's max.

I'm still kind of sad that Nintendo won't let it support 720p (for some games). The XBox could do this, and the Wii is noticably more powerful than it.

At the very least the Wii menu and VC games could've been in 720p.

Still Wiiing away. Of course I don't play for too long each day. Maybe 3-4 hours tops and longer on the weekends of course.

Between Friday night and yesterday I've done 7 hours of Twilight Princess, 2 hours of Monkeyball and 1 hour of Toejam & Earl and 1 hour of Super Star Soldier.

I agree with others here. Take solace in the Virtual Console. Also take solace in the fact that you can play Gamecube games on it. I just went back and purchased the Megaman Anniversary Collection as well as the Megaman X collection. There are a lot of Cube games I never got to, and now with the Wii I hopefully will.

Besides all that I still have Metal Slug Anthology which has been sitting there unopened for 2 weeks now. When will I open this wonder? The world may never know...

The fact that people are bitching that they have 1-2 games at a console launch AND have a library of older games available that they admit they love is appalling.

"Appalling"? That's stretching it a bit. The sensation of popping in Wii Sports for the first time and playing tennis was fantastic. It was everything it should have been (except for the lack of control over movement). Bowling was awesome.

And then I played some other games, and they were... not all that wonderful. Red Steel is okay, Monkey Ball is okay, and Zelda...

You know, Zelda is a good game. It's really fun, and it's really pretty, even if it looks like a GC game. And the controls aren't bad, but... they don't add much to the experience. Swinging a sword doesn't feel like swinging a sword, it feels like performing a canned motion. It's no better than a button would've been. Pointing at the screen to aim the boomerang is pretty cool, but usually I'm just locking onto my target with Z and not using the aiming. The sword spin motion has nothing to do with the dynamics of actually swinging a sword. And the shield bash doesn't work for me half the time.

Basically, the controls aren't as intuitive as they were with Wii Sports, and they aren't as intuitive as traditional controller actions, which means I'm having to consciously think about what I'm doing way more often than I should. I don't think Zelda on the Wii is a better game than it would have been on the GC. At all. It's a great game, but it's a lousy proof of concept.

And a lot of the games are like that, for me. I think the Wii is great, and I think that in a year it'll be where the DS is, and there are a ridiculous number of games coming out that interest me. But seeing where I am now, in terms of my opinion of the new Wii control scheme, compared to where I imagined I might be a few months ago... it's a bit sobering.

So yeah, I can see where the OP is coming from. I'm far from Wii'd out, but this isn't the second coming of gaming.

    Yet.
