Health Care: It's a big fucking deal.

Some blowhards in the law making place passed some kinda official thing that's supposed to make everyone healthy while a bunch of other blowhards tried their best to stop it. They still might using some other procedural sorcery. Maybe. I don't know.
If you support it, you hate America and wanna kill babies and old people. If you oppose it, you hate America and wanna kill everyone else instead.
After learning about defibrillation, now it's annoying to see it done incorrectly everywhere.

Have you fine chaps seen the newly redesigned GOP website?
This morning if you were to go to the GOP Web site, you are redirected to the site http://www.firenancypelosi.com/ which shows the House speaker in front of a background of flames and tells donors that if Republicans take 40 seats from the Democrats in November it means "No More Madam Speaker."
The RNC has set a goal of raising $402,010 in 40 hours (which is certainly no coincidence) to help gain the funds to try to support knocking Pelosi off her perch. The site also asks you to "Tweet firebomb" - a sort of version of spamming your friends - using the hashtag #FirePelosi to try to gain growing support for the movement
And they totally defriended her on Facebook too!!! In your face Nancy.
I am curious if this will affect me at all. Have health insurance through my job. On the cheapest HMO plan since I never go to the doctors. Whitehouse.gov tells me my premiums should go down, that would be cool.

ahhh somebody just kill me now I have accidentally angered one of my friends over this health care deal and I did not want to argue with him and ugggggh why is this such a dividing issue?

My facebook is pretty quiet about the whole thing. 2 for, 1 against so far, which is surprising, considering the political leanings of most people I know.

so basically the only change is that I get less coverage now
I guess I didn't read a scenario that sounded like it limited coverage... where do you fit in?
employer flexible spending account. Which just means I need to switch over to the regular PPO (which has higher premiums)
Ah, yes, the limits on the flex spending accounts. That makes me frown a bit- mostly the part about not using your flex account for over the counter drugs- however it does make sense.
what exactly do people mean when they say the infrastructure is in place for a single payer system?
That we already pay for people without medical insurance by our high premiums for those with medical care and through taxes going into Medicaid, so the only real change will be that the government, well known for running large entities with grace and efficiency, will now be in charge of healthcare for more people.
In other words, we're expecting savings from "smooth and efficient running of healthcare" by a structure that is notoriously inefficient in running anything grander than understanding the difference between its ass and a hole in the ground.
Update #4: Sam Gustin at DailyFinance is reporting that the Secret Service is now investigating Forell's tweets, with Secret Service spokesperson Max Milien stating: "We are aware of the actual posting and are actively investigating."

Fucking shit, I missed this. I put $3600 on my flex account this year to cover braces. I won't normally need that much, but the large expenses are why I always liked the account.
I'm not saying I agree with the idea that the individual mandate is unconstitutional. In fact I'm pretty sure that, if it ever came to it, the Supreme Court would probably uphold it.
I wanna kill babies, old people, and everybody else. and I don't hate america!
should I be for or against this bill based on those facts
Well, people in the peanut gallery in congress were screaming "baby killer" when this was passing, so I'm guess being pro-baby killing are people for this bill.
Killing old people is the secret to reducing costly medical care. The problem is old people control shit and vote in large numbers. If we would just nuke Florida, 1/2 of out healthcare issues would be solved IMO.
As for everybody else, go the logistical route. One major problem with healthcare is cost, and one of the big costs is all the legal/insurance/lawsuit bullshit. One thing that needs to be addressed is that even if you die at the hospital getting a toe nail looked at by a doctor hopped up on horse laxatives and meth it doesn't mean your family should get hundreds of millions of dollars, a fleet of Lear jets, and their own personal island for their pain and suffering. Punitive damages in lawsuits need to be cut considerably if we want to face the reality of what's fucking healthcare. Fair settlement...yes. A building full of gold coins and bags with dollar signs on them to swim around in...no.
They went with the mandate? I am comfortable with that.

My friend is bitching about socialism, and I asked him how he liked his student loans in college, the first time home buyers credit, and the fact he was on COBRA for a few months after losing his health insurance when he lost his job last year.

And the baby-killing nonsense is because many Republicans and some Dems were all "THIS IS GONNA RESULT IN FEDERALLY-FUNDED ABORTIONS, OBAMA IS LITERALLY KILLING BABIES" But the Dems were able to get the anti-abortion Dems (Stupak et al) on their side by saying Obama would sign an executive order barring any of the healthcare bill's funding to go to abortions.
