    SPIDER LEGS!
    FROM THE EMPRAH!

How awesome would it be if the Soul Drinkers showed up in this game so you could kill them?

Ben Counter is fine if you stick with the first two Grey Knight novels.

And I think he did a HH novel that was good too.

    But that's it.

    Well, duh.

Its not like "The soul multi-lasers have once again commenced a multi-laser assault on the multi-laser factories of multi-laser eight. The nefarious eldar have set up multi-layered defenses, including multi-laser batteries and multi-laser multi-lasers, but with the strength of their multi-lasers, the soul multi-lasers shall take control of the multi-laser factory, so that the multi-laser wielding forces of the imperial guard may multi-laser their foes with new multi-lasers."

I think it's pretty well established that the Mechanicus is chalk full of selfish assholes who don't care about anybody but the Mechanicus. This wasn't real surprising for me.

If I'm not mistaken, I think it's also established that a lot of the higher ups don't even care as much about the Mechanicus as they do their own personal agendas. Or that's the feeling I've got from the Warhamemr 40K roleplaying games anyway.

There's only been 1 40k RPG type game, as far as I know. And it was mostly about the Inquisition. It was called Inquisitor. It was still a tabletop game though. Inquisitors being out for personal gain is really nothing new in 40k, but they're quite separate from the Mechanicus.

There's also Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader, actual role playing games(you know, like dungeons and dragons).

And really, is anyone surprised? Everyone in 40k is out for themselves. Even marines fight for personal/chapter glory, etc etc. As much as I like the mechanicus, they're certainly not more moral or anything than anyone else... just smarter :P

I hate the fact that I'm only just now starting to save up money to give 40K another go. I should never have sold my Tyranid brood to my friend years ago.. although I didn't really like how the paint job I gave them turned out in the end. And not really enough people I know of play near me. Regardless, I know too much of the fluff and have too much of a desire to om nom nom some orks to let that stop me.

I think I still have the, to my knowledge outdated, 3rd edition Tyranid codex and 3rd edition rulebook around here somewhere.

Gonna get me a new brood and paint that shit right with washes and highlights. See what happens.

    No kidding.

I think the *concept* of the Soul Drinkers is interesting, but how retarded do you have to be to be so severly mutated as to sprout spider legs and not know you're being infested with Chaos.

A more subtle, gradual near-fall to Chaos would of worked, but the spider leg thing was just silly.

I think the thing that irritates me the most about the Soul Drinkers is that there are some pretty awesome concepts for villains that they encounter.

Like the Nurgle daemon which was a disease infesting several dozen corpses, or the psyker who controlled an army of zombies by pure force of will.

Technically he dident fall to chaos he just turned into a mindless killing machine that had no loyaltys so he was more like an ork then a chaos agent. I enjoyed the soul drinker books because it was pretty awesome watching all the marines go into denial haha "whoa a shit load of mutations--TOTALLY FROM THE EMPEROR MAN".
