Posted this in the computer thread but someone said I'd probably get more responses by making a new thread.
Well I recently ran into some spare money lately and I'm looking to spend some money to replace my £8 speakers with sound system with a bit more power and better sound quality for my computer.
I got a maximum of £100 pounds to spend on it, but I don't really want to blow all that spare cash on speakers, rather spend maybe a very very max of £70, maybe a bit more, so I can spend the rest on whatever - probably some headphones.
Not really looking for something I can set up around the room, just, say..sitting on my desk.
I don't know anything about sound systems, I've scrolled through websites but I just end up with no idea. My sound card can do 5.1 and 7.1 if that means anything heh.
Be great if I can order it for the UK, thanks in advance.

I got these speakers about two weeks ago. Absolutely amazing. Clear, crisp mid and high range, thumpin base with no noticeable distortion. Half volume is already extremely loud, yet still clear. Seperate base volume control (good when it gets late and people start to go to bed :P) Overall, I really love these, especially after the crappy ones that I used to use. Cnet reviewed them and rated them as best 2.1 system for the money.
They run about $105 USD, which would put it around 51.29 british pounds.
[edit] I use mine for everything from music (Rock, classical, progressive, anything) to gaming (BF2, Unreal, AoE, etc.)
If you're going 2.1 (very nice for music, doesn't take in too much space, except for the sub) I would probably get those Z-2300.
Everything pretty much. Mostly music.
And thanks boomshake, i'll put that down on my list.
Yeah, sound/music is always something really personal. But overall 2.1 speakers would fit you more than 5.1, because music is not made for 5.1 (atleast most is).
Personally I would prefer 2 speakers of better quality, opposed to 5 average speakers.
Thanks for the help all.
Oh yea, that's another nifty thing about the z-2300. It's got the little "remote" (still wired) volume adjusty thing (you'll see it in the pictures). You can plug your headphone in there (i just use crappy ear buds). The volume adjustment knob works for the headphone just like normal, but you don't even need to turn the speakers on! Yay power saving.
And one more thing. The sub...has a heatsink. That's hardcore. Good for showing off to friends
But I'm just curious - have any of you guys turned them to full? Im a bit worried my speakers might die.
