I kind of feel the same way about the M60. I get more kills with the LMG that has the built in red-dot sight. I think most of the "OMG OVERPOWER" that exists in the game is all psychological. If you think the gun you are using is overpowered, you suddenly will have an overpowered weapon regardless of it's true functionality.
Except all those charts showing the m60 does 25 damage compared to most other AR and LMGs doing 14-16. Also the CG having double the kill radius of the 40mm and rpg.
Yes I will continue repeating this shit ad naseum until people stop saying these weapons are the same as other weapons.

Who has had the most success in shooting down choppers on the 360 version and what did you use? I feel like I've tried everything but reason dictates that there must be something that works. Reason also dictates that probably nothing will work short of a patch. I think I've shot one chopper down on the AA gun right next to Bravo on Atacama desert. No such luck elsewhere.
I have never shot down a decent pilot, the only ones I get are the idiots who stand still or refuse to retreat and repair. I think it is pretty much impossible. This game needs multiple AA vehicles with missiles that lock on, and then heli only gets a certain amount of flare, or its on a timer. That way they might actually have to learn to navigate the map.

I just don't get why the whole "it's all psychological" thing keeps coming up when the devs have said that they're working on fixing that shit already.
I can't hit shit with the M60. I usually do better with the T88. Guess it's just me.
The CG on the other hand..I stopped using it almost immediately because I felt guilty about winning firefights with snipers from 200-250 meters.
Just think of it as saving yourself the trip of walking over there and neck stabbing them while they're zoomed in anyway!
So, anyone on the dome last night. Smoke Grenades. I tried spamming those while running offensive rush mainly. Help, hinder, annoying, awesome? I find blanketing an mcom provides cover, and putting up a wall of smoke in front of the main enemy approach helps. Am I on crack?

I thought they said they were looking into whether or not the M60 and M1911 were unbalanced, not that they were in fact unbalanced (don't get me wrong, I think they should make the M60 inaccurate as a silly goose when on the move).
In case anyone forgot, the VIP Map Pack 2 drops tomorrow. Console owners with VIP codes get it for free as well as all PC players. No news yet on when the balance patch will hit, but it is definitely still being worked on.

It would be nice if there was some rhyme or reason to the weapon damage.
At close range the 1911 pistol does 34 damage and the m249 machine gun does 14.3
I'm not asking for realism just for some basic sense.

Great to see those maps finally coming out but thinking of it all of this was probably developed prior to release and they are just releasing maps which should have been shipped with the game. I've wanted both of those for a while now but I'd like to see some new interesting content, even some following levels from single player.
There's the snow level near the end with tonnes of buildings, you start at the top of the hill and work your way down jumping from rooftop to rooftop or weaving within the buildings, that map made into a flatter multiplayer level would be great for rush and squad deathmatch.
No love for the m9-3 in that chart. I run that as my standard sidearm, bursting mans, in the face, every day. 20 rounds gone in like, a second. 17 in the wall, 1 in the shoulder, 1 in the neck, and the other in the FACE allll right.

So is that chart from PC servers or all servers? Aside from the random M60 medics (and the one 4 person all M60 medic squad), I find them to be rare on the 360.
I used to love playing Modern Warfare on hardcore servers. Will I like this game?
Yes. Bad Company 2 is what Modern Warfare 2 should have been.

Apparently bought this yesterday - sales make me do strange things. So does alcohol.
Anyway, I will probably attempt to get it running tonight, and maybe attempt to get online with you people. So that you'll have another inept dude to shoot at. I'm giving like that.

Actually... BC2 is a LOT lower down on the lethality scale compared to a game like MW2 in hardcore. Unless you're playing Hardcore it can take quite a few bullets to take someone down, and in hardcore mode the weapon balance can get fairly messed up.
The weapon lethality is typical for a BF game, but a lot of people complained about it when they came to BFBC2 after having come off of MW2 hardcore.
Actually you die much quicker in this than other BF games, the infantry weapons actually hurt stuff now. With vehicles thrown in, you can die much quicker and more frequently than in MW but it is a slower paced game.
I dont know if this map pack was finished before the game shipped.
There are no maps with cross over like this. You can now play rush OR conquest on either of those two maps. No other map has that. Id be willing to believe they found out about MW2's stimulus package- and came up with a quick and easy solution to counter that.
As a side note, I would LOVE to see a old school map pack.
-Wake Island (from 1942)
-Strike at Kirkland (sp? I always think Kirkland re: costco goods) (from BF2)

No. If you like being able to kill someone in one bullet then you will be sorely disappointed. It took me quite a while to get used to the varying type of play style. Most AR/LMGs take 6-7 hits to kill someone and they don't make up for it with rapid fire like the vector in mw2. If you liked sniping in mw2 you might like bc2 but you won't be helping the team very much if you sit up in the hills shooting at people.
This game is a bit more about team play and point whoring than it is about just killing mans. For example you get tons of points with motion mines as a recon and reviving people as a medic than you do from just trying to kill people.

Which is the thing that makes this game great. Nothing better than getting a good squad together and pushing your way through enemy lines to that next mcom or flag. Problem is finding good squads/servers when the voice chat is broken and most people don't understand squad mechanics or team based gameplay and just want to dur hur shoot mans in the head whilst their mcoms are getting ass raped 3 feet away.
I have seen good snipers constantly score on top though, oh and asshole M60s whores but fuck those guys.
Its not always the m60 that gets the points, as a medic being able to defib and drop health kits shoots your score up there no problem. Hell I bet you could play a Res Medic and still be top 3.

I do that actually, I just run around and heal and revive, I always end up top 3 and about 3/10 KDR.

I would go so far as to say it's rarely the M60 that causes those astronomical medic scores you see every so often. It's almost always heals and defibs, especially if the squad variety, pumping up their score. You scan score a hell a lot more points, faster, by doing medic things, than you can spamming the M60.

I mostly play medic doing nothing but rezzing and healing whatever I can. The M60 is only there to keep myself alive. I'm not sure whether I should be happy or sad that by doing this I can pretty consistently top the scoreboard on a rush map on the servers that I play on. It still blows my mind to see medics with the M60 that won't stop pew-pewing to throw a kit or rez a dude. IT'S FREE POINTS.
Only in this game can you kill a medic who just killed your squadmate, take the dead medics kit, and revive your teammate with it. I love it.
Also, who invented the squat up and down on the kill cam after a kill. Does this irritate anyone else? I get it tea bagging haha, but be more original. Last night I knifed a sniper and during the kill cam I pulled out my pistol and unloaded a whole clip into his dead body so he could see that. How's that for an insult.

Yah, if he is getting a lot of long distance Marksman head shots. It takes a really good sniper to do this a lot though. I had one map where I was trying to grind Recon up to Mortars that I got in a serious groove and got five or six marksman shots in a row...but it was pure luck. It's not nearly the kind of fast, easy, points a medic can generate.

As shotgun assault I have C4ed a corpse more than once... I think the final insult would be having the building collapse on the corpse while the kill camera showed you running away.

This. It is one thing to get killed by a medic using an M60, especially if you shoot first.

I played recon exclusively when I got the game because thats what I did in 2142. I found by actually hanging out with my squad, chucking motion mines and pressing the Q key like a madman you can get a silly number of points.
30 for the motion, 20 for the spot another 10-40 if you actually shot the guy, even more if it was your squad doing the work, 10 for a headshot... etc etc. Annnnd massive splurges of points every time you mortar strike or c4 a tank.
That and the sniper rifles actually do MORE damage at closer ranges. As long as you have absolute confidence in your aim there is no reason to not run around one shotting people with your bolt action at point blank ranges.
Three times in one game last night I had a medic sneak up on my rear and start blasting away with his m60 for 15 feet behind me. 2/3 of those times I was able to 180 no scope him. After playing so much CS, the no scope accuracy in BC2 is kinda refreshing.

Prior to BC2 release they were babbling about some map called Kirkland or something like that being released eventually.

But that's what it's designed for.
If a sniper shoots at you and misses, and you return fire with a rocket and they don't move they should definitely die.
...at around 1:10, does the guy on the radio say "find a bad guy, I'll get you ice cream for dinner"? Because that's pretty great.
They work when I'm with a squad and call it out.
Also, of course the map-pack drops the day I leave on vacation. Not 1 day before, or in between, or slightly after. On the day.
