I'm going to say launch price of either $279 or $299, coming with all of the stuff the JP systems are getting (charging dock, SD card, AR cards, etc.), plus some Nintendo points bundled in, maybe $20 worth as an early adopter bonus. Only one color at launch, hitting U.S. shelves on March 20. SSFIV, DoA and Layton will be launch titles. Ocarina and Pilotwings will not.
No way we'd get Mask of Miracle before Specter's Flute.

At this point I wonder if they would bundle the two games.
I'm sure someone will think of an example pretty quick to discredit this line of thinking but has there ever been a console that has been the exact samish price in both Japan and America? I still don't understand why a lot of people are using that to link to a $300 price. I mean if the people in this thread are going by their gut that's fine but the rest of the internets is really latched onto the currency conversion thing.

Well the very simple debunker is the fact that if you continued that line of thinking that an exact conversion is the price, then 3DS games would be 80-90 dollars. Yeahhhhh right.
My price ceilings on this is $299 console and $45 games. That's already a "herp derp" price, and anything higher is insane. I can see them getting away with those prices and still selling ok.
My guess is a $250 console, and $40 games, $45 for the higher priced ones.
I'm hoping for a $200 console, and $30-35 games, $35-40 for high priced ones.

I think the reasoning is that the Yen has historically been weaker compared to the dollar when the previous conversions were made. Still don't really buy it though
Some of the more interesting things they brought up:
Bundled software: 3DS camera, 3DS sound, built-in Street Pass, Mii lobby and parade, Mii games (apparently one called Mii Legends came up, an RPG featuring Miis, that uses Street Pass), Mii player cards (not sure), AR games, a notepad that stores information such as game times and collected data from Street Pass of other players (has a pedometer built-in and features something called Game Coins which you collect as you walk around and can then use "supposedly" to purchase items in games), and Face Shooting (takes a picture of your face and then maps a mouth and eyes to it, creating a sort of boss like Andross from Starfox which you then shoot at in AR).
Pack-in stuff: system, charging dock, A/C adapter, a 2 gigabyte SD memory card, six AR cards (used in AR games), easy start guide, instruction manuel, and warranty info.
The Virtual Console is going to be Game Boy and Game Boy Color games only for now. Advance games are almost guaranteed to be introduced later on though.
Metal Gear Solid 3D, Resident Evil Revelations, and Super Street Fighter 4 seem to the games that use 3D the best so far. The new Pilotwings and Kid Icarus displayed impressive use of 3D as well.
The Circle Pad is apparently pretty awesome and made controlling your character in all of the games great. Everyone unanimously agreed on that.
Resident Evil Revelations looks somewhere between Resident Evil 4 and 5 but is said to have more horror elements in line with the first game.
Dead or Alive: Dimension will run at 30 FPS in 3D and 60 FPS in 2D.
Kind of funny, in Nintendogs + Cats the dog will recognize your face and if you put it close to the screen it will lick you. If someone that the dog doesn't know were to open the 3DS though the dog will start barking at them. Supports Augument Reality so that if you put a card in your room you can have the dog run around in your room. Apparently it knows where walls are and you can take pictures of the dog in your room as it shows up on the screen during AR mode.
In Ocarina of Time 3D when using the slingshot, you can physically move the 3DS to aim using the gyroscope.
Steel Diver has two different modes to it. One os a sort of shooter mode aiming with the periscope like you aim with the slingshot in Zelda and the other is a side-scrolling mode that involves maneuvering and firing.
Nintendo is trying to space out software releases, I guess we'll see how that goes.
Not sure how much of that is known but I thought it was an interesting listen.

You have my money Nintendo. Just release the damn thing already.

Japan gouges on pricing. DVD sets ( for a single disc) can be something like 90 bucks in some cases.
It's generally not a safe bet to assume their price will carry over to here.

So is the New York thing at 9am eastern? Being in California I guess all the details will be posted before I even wake up.
Most people seems to be going with a guess of $249.99, I am going to be a little cautiously optimistic and guess $229.99. And I'm guessing a March 25th release date. We will see how off I am tomorrow.
I'm trying to decide if it will be the 6th (Same day as Pokemon B/W) or the 13th.
launching same day as a new Pokemon game would be a big deal, especially hyping that you can play it on the 3DS. On the other hand, they could wait for pokemon to be out a week or so and then go for Round 2 domination with the 3DS deluge.
Glad they seem to be doing quite a bit besides more graphics, now in 3D.
The Street Pass thing sounds really cool. Especially in that it works automatically and for any games you and the other user have in common regardless of when either of you last played. A recent Iwata Asks about the 3DS had an example where if you passed another 3DS owner who also had Nintendogs + Cats, the next time you turned on your system with that game you would find that other persons dog delivering a present or something. I'm not particularly interested in that game by any means, but that could do some interesting stuff in others as well.
And imagine how much data you would inadvertently pick up by just bringing your 3DS to an event like Pax.
Also, the other stream seems that is going to be a live show hosted by the Nintendo3DSBlog guys who will be assisting to the event and tell us the reveals as they happen, but we won't be seeing the actual conference.
Almost time! Whatever the announcement, what this event has already reminded me of is how important this is to Nintendo. They must be spending a fortune here - there's 200+ of us here, and they've paid all expenses - hotel, flight, food etc - for everyone that'd accept it. Other than an actual major trade show like E3 or GamesCom, I can't recall the last European event like this that had this many faces big and small all in one place.
Coach picks us up to take us to the venue in 50 minutes. Must actually, like, get ready. Lazy fuck I am.

Nice. I was about to ask if there was going to be a stream of the European event as well.
Is there expected to be any significant difference in announcements for the two events? You know, other than the pricing and launch date.
I'm betting that they are going to do the whole "our new handheld will cost below 250 dollars" thing with an announcement towards the beginning of the presentation and then finally reveal at almost the very end that it will be priced at $249.99. They won't want to have it cost more than the Wii did at launch, be priced at the same amount as the PS3 is currently, etc. However, I think the chance of it being priced higher than $250 is still greater than the chance of it being priced lower than that amount (and we're talking by more than one cent here!)
Pack-in game though? I highly doubt it. Already there is software that is built into the device for use with the AR cards and it sounds like some simple casual type fare that you can play with your Mii. If there were a pack-in game I'm putting the chance of it being Ocarina of Time 3D at 0 percent though. That game is guaranteed to sell a few million copies or at least more then the remake of Super Mario 64 did. Nintendo may as well make the money that they know they have the potential to make off of it versus just giving it away with the system.
Edit: IGN has a whole Live Blog thing prepared too. The other link might be better of course and it wouldn't be giving IGN page hits, but here it is:
Batshit crazy prediction: Pikmin for the 3DS is announced. It will be titled simply Pikmin 3DS, with the Pikmin three part highlighted in some way because its the third Pikmin and the 3DS moniker applied because its on the 3DS in 3D and thats the kind of thing Nintendo will want to point out in every other game title with no subtlety. If there even was a Wii Pikmin game in development, that will get dropped.

It's probably more likely that it will be $300 with OoT packed in, that is to say, still not likely at all.
A 300 dollar price point as long as a game is packed in, is perfectly acceptable if we were hoping for 250 with no game.
This is how you do it, nowhere to go but up.
I thought OoT 3D hadn't been confirmed to be a launch title.
Even more reason why it's not likely!
Anyway, just read on GAF that 3DS game preorder prices at Amazon just jumped from $35 to $40.
