hyperion0934k.jpg

This phalla is themed around the novels Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons. It features a killer robot made of knives, spaceships, giant explosions, time travel, zen AIs, genetic modification, and the poetry of John Keats.

Mankind stands on the brink of Armageddon as a consequence of imminent warfare with the Ousters, post-humans genetically altered to live in deep space. The mysterious TechnoCore, composed of independent Artificial Intelligences, viciously pursues its own agenda. Humanity's deliverance may rest with seven pilgrims whose unique experiences offer understanding of the unsolved riddles of the Time Tombs, located on the planet Hyperion.

    1. The first two books, Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion. I left out Endymion and The Rise of Endymion, because they suck and are also awful.

    2. There are named roles. Not every player will belong to a faction.

Though metallic in appearance ("quicksilver over chrome"), the Shrike is also described as an 'organic' machine, humanoid in a general way, but with four 'oddly jointed' arms and intense, multi-faceted ruby eyes.

Unfortunately the Shrike is about as close to invincible as it's possible to be in this universe, so Kime will probably get that role.
