I was hoping for fighting/dark/psychic, but alas.

I thought that before, too. But Dark not being able to hit psychic at all makes me question it. It isn't the same

    1<2<3 formula.

Huh, never noticed that Flying<Fighting<Ice<Flying works the same way Grass, Water and Fire does. Of course, we've never had a solid Flying type, so I'm not sure what to think of it (despite the fact that bulbasaur was a dual-type to start with).

    in reality

i just want starters that all uniformly capture badassery like gen 1

    everyone has their favorites

but we can all agree venasaur, blastoise, and charizard were all fucking awesome

but ever since then i'm not sure i can say that for the other generations

well maybe gen 4; infernape is awesome, empoleon is a gentleman, and torterra carries a continent on its shell

I can agree that the first gen starters were all awesome. Gen 4 starters are still pretty meh though.

I mean, empoleon was kind of cool, but that trident on his face kinda takes away from his "oh shit" factor.

meanwhile, blastoise actually had a pair of fucking canons on his shell.

Something I wouldn't mind seeing, is all the starters being dual types, and all of them working in 2 directions. I thought Gen 4 was trying to do this, but it turns out that Empoleon just got shit on.

What I'm saying is you would have a Grass/Flying type, a Water/Ice type and a Fire/Fighting type. This way, every starter has an advantage over the other starter.

So would anyone be up for a battle? I've been waiting on my friends to get online all day today, but it seems they're being suppositories at the moment.

I've never once battle'd competitively, and this is my first competitive team that I've bred, so don't expect anything amazing.

I've found the area directly south of Blackthorn is a really good place to train up. It has lots of Gravelers that are around level 21-25 that can give upwards of 400 experience. Granted, it works best if the type you're training is strong again them. Although I was able to get my Typlosion up past 40 killing them in one hit with fire moves.

I trained my Hitmonlee up to level 25 in a different area and then just OHKO'd Gravelers in the grass right outside of the city. Got him from level 25 to level 42 in a few hours.

Also, I do that kinds of grinding when I'm playing other games on my Xbox so I don't kill myself from boredom. Multitasking!

Does Flower Gift really boost Cherrim's ATK and SPEC ATK as well as the partner pokemon in a Double Battle? Because Smogon says it does but Bulbapedia's entry doesn't seem to confirm that...

In which case I need to redo this Cherrim with Helping Hand, Protect, Sunny Day, & Aromatherapy..

"Party" Pokemon, meaning more than likely both.

I took Party to mean the pokemon in the party not including Cherrim itself. Because it seems like it would say "allies" if "both" were the case.

One thing that'll make it easier is to exhaust her stock of healing items by weakening her earlier Pokemon without killing them. I got her to use 2 Full Restores before her Kingdra ever came out, which made killing the thing a whole lot easier.

Yep. I did the same in Diamond.

On the other hand, the Sinnoh E4 are overpowered to shit.
Especially now that they've made the effort to make the E4 a serious threat (GSC E4 was a fucking joke) and now you're gonna run all over them.

    Same with Cynthia in DPP.

Is it really that big of a deal to get a female starter? Can't you just breed a male one with a Ditto anyway?

No you don't, the male passes Egg moves. If you have a male with the moves you want to pass you can breed with a Ditto to get a baby with those moves.

They are, but to get a starter with an egg move you need a female starter (to determine what the egg will hatch into) and a male anything (to pass down the desired move).

Ohhhh ok yeah, see I was thinking about TM moves and such, I forgot there are moves you can only get from other species by breeding.

    Gotcha

So, what's the best way to ensure a Poke will get the best IVs from breeding, and what's the best way of checking those IVs on a freshly hatched Poke

Sadly, to check the IVs you really need to go into a battle where your pokemon will be set to a high level (a wi-fi battle) and then put their stats into an online calculator. A man in the battle tower lobby can give you a slight idea, though.

As for getting good ones, it can be hard. The best way is to have a parent with a good IV in one stat hold one of the Power items (purchasable at the Battle Frontier). Each item corresponds to one stat, and the parent holding the item will pass their IV in that stat to the baby. There's also a chance that some of the parent's IVs will be naturally passed down. The best way is to have parents with good IVs and also to have good luck.

IV breeding is a real pain.

You have to give the male a Sun Stone if you want to pass down its nature.

... Even I can't say that in April Fools =( We don't do that in Venezuela if it's not December 28th, anyway.

When you go into the underground, I believe a red rectangle shows you approximately where your hideout is located. No way of knowing exactly how to get there from above ground though, since not all of the underground tunnels are connected.

I've had this happen. What you have to do is send a poke back into the walker, and send them back to the DS and it will run through your Loot (which you will have none) but because your Watts are above a certain point, it will unlock the next route for you. I walked like 3 days straight and then connected my pokewalker and I thought, what the hell, I should have like 5 courses- oh, it is set to 1 course unlock max per transaction...
