I finally broke down and decided to wait on line to play red dead, waited about 45 min and played a little free roam and a story mission. I was blown away, the world felt very alive and desolate at the same time. The rockstar guy who guides you while you play told me they had about 30 different species of wild life and you could bascally go where ever you wanted in game. The controls felt familiar, I'd say similar to GTA IV, but a little more polished. I am super excited for the game and I asked about a pc release and that rockstar guy told me he couldn't answer that particular question
oh yeah the sound, especially the score was amazing.
Damn, Id think this game would be amazing on PC... Could you possibly describe your demo in depth if you happen to remember any more? ;D So wish I woulda been able to get my hands on it, been following it in depth since last May.
Hmm I wish I got to walk around in a town but since there were so many ppl on line rockstar was really trying to keep things moving. Any specific questions you have? I'll try to answer them if I can...
We waited in line an hour and it was so worth it. The graphics and realism were great. (If you shot a guy in the arm and he was shooting at you with a gun in that hand, he would drop the gun and grab his arm.)
I agree with the poster above who said that the score was great too.
We will definately be purchasing this when it comes out.
These are just a few off the top of my head - thx a bunch btw
Well, there are rumors that swimming is out in RDR... but that couldve just been the boundaries set up for the certain demo the previewer experienced, Id expect a similar build at PAX, but perhaps not... Was there any word on swimming? Did you enter the water or see another demo'er do so?
How was the aiming system? How close is it to GTA IV that is. It seems that it differs a little judging from gameplay vids.
What was the sequence that took place during a death? If you happend to see one that is hah. Apparently if you get arrested it shows a scene with Marston in a jail cell? So I was wondering if they show him at the doc. or something after you "die".
Did you happen to see the transition from day to night? JW how long the cycles are. There are different stories revolving around this as well, but could differ from build to build.
What types of animals did you come across?
Hows the lasso going to work in MP? Apparently you can lasso and hogtie players online? It could get pretty annoying if it happens lol.
What were the various "levels" of law enforcement that you witnessed?
They say all weapons will be visible on Marston. Are you able to carry 2 larger weapons at once? Or 3? i.e. rifle, shotgun, sniper rifle?
What were some random events you came across?
These are all I can think of now. Thx so much for your time! ;D feel free to include anything else interesting haha.
Also if anyone else got to watch / play please add to the thread! Much appreciated.
I managed to check it out on Sunday and with my very limited Xbox skills (mostly because I'm a PC gamer with spot plays of other console) got killed and ended the demo, but I don't really remember what happened other than the screen gets progressively darker and blood spots cover the screen until you die and everything turns a red tint. Fortunately, I don't think I shortened the demo by much, if at all, and we got a very nice feel for how the gameplay works.
Controls (what I was able to manage) felt good, but I sucked at trying to aim and shoot without crouching, so I kept getting hit. Very impressive seeing how well the physics of location shots were shown, and the load time seemed pretty decent for the huge areas.
I also have hopes it'll be available on PC eventually, but they only noted X360 and PS3 for now. If they don't announce anything in a few months, I might have to consider one of those....

What do you mean by "but I sucked at trying to aim and shoot without crouching, so I kept getting hit."?
Is accuracy increased greatly by crouching?
Lack of sleep made that post slightly incoherent. I'm a bit heavy on the left thumbstick (at least for the Xbox 360 controller), so when I was trying to move and aim, I kept forcing him into and out of the crouch, which messed up the aiming and movement (read: MUCH slower movement) while getting shot at. Needless to say, I was wiped out fairly quickly.

I KISS YOU!
yeah that was pretty much the overall feeling I got with the time I had with the game. It really seems like rockstar won't disappoint with this title.
