I used to do that, bur I usually ended up regretting it later when an underused item was buffed or I decided I wanted to toy around with a weak but silly item, like Bonk.
I still always craft razorbacks and back burners, though.

I've made some mistakes too, like my krtizkrieg, but I never play Medic, so I didn't think it would matter, Then a buddy came over and really really wanted to play krit medic. Did not happen.
But yeah, all Razorbacks and Back Burners are instant crafts.

edit: didn't quaz or somebody a while back say you could just not hit continue on the server message of the day screen and still get items? because this server doesn't have spectators and i don't trust other idlers to not knock me out of the area where you die every 30 seconds
