Apparently the cloak is just outright glitchy after the patch (the 119 patch). There's a thread about it on the Steam forums which seems to indicate that, even when you have ample energy left, you'll still 'shimmer' a la the partial cloak.
Yeah, I was really sure I was completely cloaked (since I had just dodged a pyro), but there must have been something. Since it wasn't even a coincidence. He knew exactly where I was. So either there's something wrong with cloaking or that dude was completely cheating. Those are really the only explanations.
I didn't get into tufftoo until pretty long after it was released, I recall.
I literally played a couple of times after the beta came out because A. Hey, I get to play it before anyone who didn't preorder the orange box does! and B. It's fucking TF2. Second only to Duke Nukem Forever in it's vaporwareness.
I think I played for less than a half-dozen and never really picked it up again until the sniper/spy patch I think. Whenever they added random drops.
I really don't deserve the medal, but I'll wear it in pride all the same.
Shame you can't wear it and a medic mask/beard at the same time.
Despite my date saying December 19 2007, which is within 3 months of the first day it was able to be purchased, let alone played, I only got a silver medal. Their algorithm still needs a bit of tweaking.
I have a hire date of September 17. Looks like you missed the gold medal by a couple of days.
Shame you can't wear it and a medic mask/beard at the same time.
Obviosly Valve needs to add a seperate medal slot and keep the misc. slot for the medic mask and camera beard. Maybe make misc. items for the other classes too.
So I guess for some reason the badge always looks like a silver scout badge on ragdolls? Well whatevs, I got mah gold badge.
Also when I try to connect to Job's I get kicked back to the main menu right after reaching the MotD, without any messages except for one in the console:

Not really.... it went up for purchase on October 10, 2007. October to November is one whole month, November to December is a second month, and December to January would be a third month. So everyone should have until January 10 2008.
Valve is bad at measuring time, hence the concept of Valve Time.

The Orange Box was available for purchase on September 11th, 2007 (as a pre-order), and TF2 was released as a beta on September 17th, available to everyone who bought the Orange Box. Since that was the first day it was playable, they are counting that as the release date with regards to these badges.
So TF2wiki.net claims that gold medals actually are in fact awarded for purchase dates up to January 11th, but there's still a bug left that causes the wrong medals to be awarded in some cases.
If Valve starts counting from October 10th they totally should have created a platinum one for beta players though.
I'm thinking those might be the prototypes of the 12" statues, since the heavy is in the exact same pose and the level of detail and base size on the Soldier looks about right.
They are apparently starting the dates from the day the pre-order beta started (Sept 17th) which was a couple of weeks before the release date (Oct10th)
So the cut off date is December 17th.

I would love to, but my game won't start anymore, and I've already sent 3-4 diagnostics to valve about it. (Strange how it's only this game, any other games by valve works fine... I was playing L4D2 not that long ago)
