hello, my live name is tomxthextank and i'm pretty new to the forum.
I main Zangief, and i was wondering if anyone could answer a question for me
on how gief avoids Ryu's super at 1:31 of this video. Thx I appreciate it.
I bought Garou and played a couple with Fig, became frustrated with the input lag and haven't touched it since. So disappointing... I need some fighting game friends from somewhere that's not the internet.

He backdashed. That has a few invulnerability frames in it, but his dash doesn't hop very far backwards, so by the time those frames are over, the super's passed him by.

@ Cocks. Good matches, and no I didn't. This might just be me talking out of my ass, but Frosteey's chun is an absolute nightmare, and the main difference it seems between the two of you is the use of neutral jump. You used it maybe.. twice? Total? I don't know, but it seems like a pretty good spacing and breathing tool while also putting some frustration on your opponent. Might want to look into that. Still, fun games, and it's cool to see you're dipping into Bison.

It seemed like you had an answer to everything and I had nothing. It got really frustrated really fast for some reason. Then I messed up my inputs for my ultra the only time I crumpled you.
I usually only goof off with Bison with friends but I had to get out of Chun before I exploded ha.
You make me want to get better, I have to look more into Ken/Ryu match ups.
They're usually horrible online and I guess I've been conditioned to do some not so safe things.
Edit: I find it weird that every tournament video I've seen, has been in English. Considering the past games never being dubbed over and what not.
Use DP, it seems to be more precise. Less room for error.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Hmm, I'm kinda tempted to start the SE++ OP too. I bet that's in bad form though.
Oh. Didn't notice that the SE++ megathread ban took out the Fighting Games thread too. In any case, I think a SSF4 thread would probably work better over there once the game's actually out and there's lobbies to be had.

It feels like it just comes down to spacing and zoning. Again, I'm by no means a Chun-Li player, as for the first couple months of play I actually forgot that she was even in the game. In my experience in fighting her, though, it seems like Chun beats me out when she gets her flippity kick on my fireballs, and gets annoying with the neutral jump.
NORMAL
Vega has a new jumping arc, he jumps higher than he used to.
His mask and claw stays on a LOT longer. Those honda slaps fazed me a lot less knowing my mask was keeping with me through them
DF.MK, its an overhead, felt so good to break Honda defence with something more than a bloody grab. although a lot of people are just thinking of it in terms of one hit it means that charge characters lose their down back charge limiting some options such as Honda butt slam
MK seems to come out faster, might be going mad though so dont hold me on that one but nice if so as its another good ranged poke.

SPECIALS
Vega wall dive
The wall dive has changed in a couple of ways, firstly the way it travels to walls is different. the EX version hits a hell of a lot better. for example I could punish honda after a Cr MP about mid screen while he was crouching. normally you would fly right over but it seems they have fixed that.
Also it now goes a lot higher up. Not really too sure how much this will change, it seems to have Pros and cons. Pros being easier to escape the quick punishs. Such as abels jump back HP now it would not be an instant hit. the problem being that it now seems harder to do izuna mix ups. this is probably down to me not being used to the new arc of the dive but it feels like it could be giving more time for the opponent to react with say a Dragon punch.
you can rejoice though cause the trades from the wall dives are so much better. when the slash trades with ryus dragon punch he knocks you both back and resets more or less full screen apart from each other. so its a lot safer! no more dragon punch to ultra.
The scarlet terror seems to have been improved as well. I didn't really get to grips using it in enough situations but it seemed to beat some pokes it couldn't before. if i remember right it beat ryu doing a crouching MK, not on wakeup though.

SUPER
Seems the same to be honest, the only difference may be that the ARC of the wall dive is changed as vega goes higher from wall dives.
************************************************** ***************
ULTRA 1 Bloody High Claw
This has changed a hell of a lot. not only does it hit on the way up to a wall but it also hits a lot higher than before. this means it works as a great anti air. as the line of attack is so much higher than before it will hit a lot more people on jump, at the moment his line of attack quite ofter goes under players reaching for the bottom corner of the wall. for example of an akuma does a jump fireball at the top of his jump same time as your ultra, in the current game you go under, in SSF4 you will punish as the end of the slash aims at about mid screen - top corner.
I didn't really get a chance to properly try to combo ultra 1 in many situations but what I did gather was...
It does not combo off DF.HK (hop kick)
It does not combo off light scarlet terror (only got to try this once and it may of been a miss but don't think this will work.
It works better as an anti air, don't rely on it too much to work like an ex wall dive hit on a grounded player, it has different properties. for example at full screen the ultra will not hit on the way up to the wall, it will miss and you will just bloody high over there heads back to where you started. Not sure about taller characters like Sagat but in general not as useful to use like that.
didnt even think to look at the damage... sorry guys!
Ultra 2 Splendid Claw
it is pretty splendid to be honest, it slides through fireballs of any height, tried against juri's one that is practically on the floor and it works. however its only for a short time after start up when your able to do this.
its still useful to use against fireballers even at full screen because you can dash ultra.
amazing as an anti air, you can punish jump ins very nicely.
seems to hit low, so down block is needed.
Damage is not amazing. if you hit it without any combo it's an ok ultra but it seems to damage scale like a bitch.
Does not seem to combo from DF HK or after scarlet terror hits
Claw in Super is definitely looking so much better than vanilla Claw.
So anybody got an old stick they want to sell me. I've had two guys on craigslist try to sell me broken shit, and nobody around here carries them in store used. Unfortunately I can't afford a new one right now

Fuck. I just realised that I missed a SF4 tourney today.
I really need to start getting back to AiaB. They started doing a SF4 boot camp.
3 SF4 stations separated by skill level
station 1: Advanced (5 players)
station 2: Intermediate (5 players)
station 3: Beginner (5 players)
RULES:
1. The first session, I will determine where each player belongs. At the end of the first session, the station you finished at, is where you will start the following week. New players will have to start in the beginners station. If people from the advanced and intermediate stations don't show up, we will bump up the best performers from the previous session, to fill the slots.
2. King of the Machine (KotM) format will be used on all three stations. One person on each station will be responsible for recording all wins. Someone else will takeover record keeping if the original keeper gets demoted to the next station(demotions will be explained further down.)
3. Arcade mode will be used! This mode will be used so the winner cannot keep switching characters to counter each upcoming opponenet. This gives the challengers a chance to beat that character that's streaking.
4. Promotion/Demotion Match: After an hour, the person with the most wins on stations 2 and 3 will challenge the player with the least amount of wins in the next ranked station (best player in station C will challenge worst player in station B, and the best player from B will challenge the worst in A.). the promotion matches will be best 2 out of 3 matches.
5. If the player from the lower station defeats the player from the higher station, that player will be promoted to the next station, and the loser will be demoted.
6. Tie breakers: in case of a tie for players that have to play a promotion/demotion match. A coin toss will be issued. The player that loses the coin toss (if the tie breaker is for 2 players with the weakest win count), he will have to play in the demotion match. Vice versa if someone wins the coin toss for the right to play a promotion match.
7. If you are constantly the worst player in the beginner bracket week after week. You will be pulled to the side, and a possible ban may happen. This will be on a case by case basis. It is possible that the other beginners are also learning at the same rate as you. So if I see improvement atleast, you will not be banned. If you constantly get 0 wins, there is a problem, and it probably means you are more of a casual player. It's nothing personal, and there's nothing wrong with being casual. But these sessions are for serious training to become better, and this may not be for you.

I edited the OP some to take out some data that should have been updated/changed along with the 11th color stuff. I also cut out the whole gameplay videos section since I'm pretty sure it's worthless. If people want to give me youtube channels with a high volume of gameplay videos, I'll link those, since I'm pretty sure that's way better and more convenient for people who want to actually watch gameplay videos.
This might be AS amazing as the Menu/Ken theme in HDR. Juri truly is awesome.
Also, I'm adding AI, FADC and Gootecks to the video section, if you can think of other channels that have a lot of good tournament fights, I'll add those too.
Is Vega bottom-tier because of some simple tactic that nullifies all his mixup leap things? If so I would dearly love to hear what it is because I'm tired of getting ripped to shreds without having any defense against it.

Well...they said they were making a Garou 2. In 2005, they said it was 70% complete. Then in 2008 they said they were going to use new technology.
I think we're safe in calling it "Garou Forever" for now.
