You will have fun in silver I think. I somehow got into gold and it isn't much fun. Too many hardcore people there. Seems like protoss used to be the race you could get away with lower APM but I'm not so sure anymore.

My account is in platinum league, the hell do you think I feel?
If I want to play I have to play custom games and HOPE that the guy in the game titled "1vs1 noobs only" actually IS a noob.
My buddies who share the account with me are just too good
God I am bad, I just got so humiliated its time to call if for the night. I dominated this guy, just ran him over. I saw his build and perfectly countered it, I ran over his base. He just barley held me off in his expansion so I brought in reinforcements and he got dark templars. Not too bad since I have a CC so it wasnt a problem, I also teched to ravens. Well somehow he got enough minerals to spam stalkers and cannons which could just barely hold me off since I had to get ravens. He snuck some into my base and I lost. It was horrible, no idea how he got in but I should have easily won. He killed all the units in my base and I am so bad at this game I couldn't find my raven. It was hiding somewhere.
Time to watch the replay and play find the raven.
Wow just got done with the replay. My first units were being killed by a DT, I should have noticed that my units were dieing when he had nothing in range. And then I forgot to build reinforcements after my next attack. Oh and I attack moved my group into his base, and my ravens wanted to be heroes and charged right in and died. Well now I know.

Why is there a hero in that multiplayer match?
Also,I don't want to go to a lower league cause my friends play way more than me and they'd go crazy if I lost them our Platinum league rank :P
In this video there are times when he is clearly moving under the force fields, but other times when it looks like he cannot. Maybe there is some other factor at play?
I realize this was pages ago, but I think the answer is that when he burrows under, he's on creep. Once he pushes out away from his base, he's not...and can't.

alternative explanation:
he couldn't see down the ramp, fields cut off the LOS for some reason. perhaps this glitched out the ai.
Here's a match with me and TheStig. It's not a particularly fascinating match I was just messing around to see how well I could do some recordings and also try out this new program I got for editing/etc. No commentary or anything like that. I don't have a 1080p monitor (well, I guess I could use my TV if I wanted to) - so I might just play the game in windowed 720p, that way atleast the video would fill up the entire screen.
Actually it looks like in beta my options are limited, Windowed mode seems to shrink it considerably, but doesn't let me choose the resolution.

You should post my awesome twilight fortress strategy. The one where we fought a zerg and terran.
It is very cool to watch, and the commentary makes it even greater...
...but I'm beginning to suspect that this game is not for me, because I have no idea about even half of the things he is saying with builds and so on, and to learn about all that, and then to be able to use it in the game, would take up far too long than what I'm currently willing to spend on a single game.
Note though, that I'm not saying that the game is bad. The way he talks about macro, micro, stages, builds, techs and so on clearly shows that Blizzard is creating an extremely rich experience here.
I'm just afraid that they are catering too much to the hardcore pro people... but when they single handedly managed to create a new national sport from this game (in South Korea), who can blame them?

Heard the proposition that RIAA and MPAA should join forces and form "Music And Film Industry Association"?

Haha, yeah maybe I'll mess around with that. I'm rendering/uploading a 1v1 I just recorded in first person against a Zerg. Rushed him in the beginning which softened him up and then rolled him over with Colossi and stalkers/zealots. He kept rebuilding though, got kind of annoying.

You just have the play the game to learn things, and it really starts to make sense eventually.

You could always play the single player mode and the inevitable onslaught of different game modes created by the community. Isn't DotA nothing like SC and people love it?

It really isn't so bad, if you can just learn one simple rough build order for one race you can probably win about half your games in the silver and under division. Timing pushes and unit placement and all that stuff doesn't really matter until gold or platinum. My APM is <40 and I am doing alright in silver. I would do a lot better if I didn't make stupid mistakes that are easy to fix.

Well, you can enjoy this game on many levels. They aren't just catering to the pros. They're developing the melee ladder in favor of the pros because it's competitive. There's use map settings and many levels of enjoyment for people (against cpus, friend vs. friend, etc.)

I would not worry about it being too hardcore. Most of the players here are not very good (or at least claim to be not very good.) There can be a lot to pay attention to, but overriding it all is economy, and making units while your army is off dying. Microing units is probably the most difficult portion of the game, and being able to Micro + Marcro up a new army while in battle is what sets "Pro" players apart, those skills are not required to have fun and win some games.
I've always found that Blizzard games are kind to the newbies, yet satisfying for the expert player.
Also, i had to factory reset my phone because of some asshole app i updated.....My Blizzard Authenticator was on my phone. Now it's all de-synced or something and i need to get through to tech support to reset it. Tech support is so busy the just told me to "Call another time."
Yeah eobet, what Furious said. Ive played maybe a grand total of 5 hours of RTS in my life before SC2. Its like anything, just keep with it, do a little research and good times will be had.
For me I compare to when I first started playing Counter Strike. I went a few months without having a 1:1 ratio however after putting some hours into it I could stay at 3:1 (not amazing, but made the game less frustrating ).
I am not great at SC2 but I am loving it. I highly recommend finding someone who is experienced to play 2v2 with. Even with the nub factor, you can still win some games and get a feel for what other players do.
Just had a game where an opponent tried to all-in immortal rush me, he failed hard due to ghosts. I decide to have some fun and nuke him, he tells me "fucking trash kid" before he taps out.

What the heck are those pics?
Can anyone can log into bnet and tell glirkdient to get on xboxlive/gmail/some fucking way to stay in contact?
Bet we'll see custom games involving them if Blizz leaves people access to the leveling mechanic.
This reminds me....why the hell do the Terran get the first game? Outside of Raynor, no one finds Terran entertaining.
Give me my Queen of Blades already!

They've mentioned they'll definitely let you create units with levels in the map editor.
I've been hoping to get one started but no one seems to be interested.
I would be interested.
IF I HAD A BETA KEY.
I'd be up for a 1v1 tournament as well if someone organized it.
Oh my god that is amazing.
I am going to try this as soon as I can.
