I would wish for more arable land in countries currently facing starvation. Enough that families could grow enough for themselves without having to rely on dictatorial regimes to share food drops. It wouldn't solve all the problems, but it would form a better base for the people.
a good genie would plunk all that land down right on top of any bodies of water in the area and on top of any large roads or highways obliterating any commerce :P
Genie, not djinn.
If the guy comes out and he doesn't talk like Robin Williams I'm putting him back in the bottle.
I don't think Jacob's Ladder gets enough credit for how influential it's been.
It's pretty much the manual for how to make a Silent Hill game.
Seriously, right down to that speed-up-the-camera-while-somebody-wiggles-his-head-around business.
The thing I like most about Jacob's Ladder is that it has the exact kind of overarching plot that critics generally despise, but does an amazing job with it and has been critically acclaimed as a result.
Is there a difference between Software Developer and Software Engineer?
I don't work in any of related fields, but I would assume that a Software Developer is a guy who develops specific applications of software to fulfill specific purposes, while a Software Engineer is someone who works on developing new forms of software.

Yep. It's pretty much the model for "it was all a dream!" movies.
I don't think Donnie Darko or Abre Los Ojos would exist if not for that movie.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
Japan - That's a kinda cool looking bike, actually.
And it can be ridden in normal clothes (even a skirt), it is possible to mount it in a dignified fashion because you don't have to sling a leg over it, and is surprisingly good at carrying loads because all the weight is slung low down.
As far as I'm concerned, RMS, they're the same term. Apparently "programmer" can apply to any idiot that can make an macro, so there's some job title inflation going on.
@Reimann: Are you talking about FOV, or something else?
It's related to that yeah.
Basicially, with 3d systems you go through 3 basic steps (and optionally many other steps for things like shaders) in order to figure out where a point in 3d space will be drawn onto the screen. Each of these is a matrix multiplacation representing a homomorphism (eg: any combination of scaling, rotating, and translating).
The last one is squashing the rotated / scaled / translated points from a 3d space (potentially 4d if you are using quaternions) down into the 2d position on the screen. This involves a scaling factor. Basicially, you want things that are far away to be "smaller". And you can use geometry to calculate exactly what that number should be. But the correct number always looks wrong in a weird MC Escher kind of way.
So 3d programmers just wing it and tweak the number from what is "correct" to what actually looks good.

And yet more benefits. I'll look for one if ever I live somewhere flat, which doesn't seem likely.

I'm far cheaper than a bike and all of those things can be done to me.

Many of the countries facing starvation did have good land before they wrecked the place due to some combination of lack of government regulation/libertarianism/tragedy of the commons.
For instance, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Among their differences is that Haiti is nearly completely deforested and one of the regimes in the DC kept their forests under wraps.

huh. It has been a good while since I set up the projection parameters myself but I don't remember this issue.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Titles vary enourmously between different companies. I've met some people who swear up and down there is a difference between the two. But most companies use either one term or the other for essentially the same jobs.
Man, I love it when MST3K does a "so bad it's good" movie. I get the joy of watching an angry zombie with a bat murder teenagers AND hear some robots riff off it!

One talks about it, the other one has to actually do it.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
Is it something about true gender equality, or is that also implied?

I do both, does that make me a Software Devgineer or a Software Enveloper?

You have to conserve these finite resources! MST3k eps are like fossil fuels. Ain't no more dinosaur bones coming anytime soon.
