Mine comes from being more familiar with Taiwan, which was Wade-Giles for a long time. Though, pinyin is catching on there rapidly and showing up in official signage (e.g. MRT, maps). I'm able to make the jump, but it's just adding a complexity I don't need. I'll be really flummoxed if they decide to dump traditional chinese and go simplified.
