my name is royce and i am a tourist in the bay area
So I just touched down and I would like to know what incredible geek sites I can visit in the area. Got a rental car so driving won't be a problem tomorrow
Well, I'm not from SF, but have been a few times. There's the exploratorium, but that might be a little to childish for some people (I went when I was 18 and had fun, but there are a lot of kids there). There's also the California Academy of Sciences to visit.
I'm sure someone else will be by with more detailed info.
The Tech Museum in San Jose is kinda neat, but SJ is a bit of a drive from SF and the museum is probably not worth it on its own. Google and Apple are also headquartered in the south bay, but you won't be able to do much besides drive by them and look around the lobby.
When I was a little kid, I always pretended I was the hero,' Skip said.
'Fuck yeah, me too. What little kid ever pretended to be part of the lynch-mob?'
Never been to that first one, however I've been to the Cartoon Art Museum a few times. It's pretty small, but there's always good stuff to view there, especially if you're into older comics/comic artists.
Also, the Chabot Space and Science Center underwent a pretty huge renovation a few years back. It's not too far of a drive from SF and they've got some pretty cool exhibits, plus it's in a pretty area. Not too far from Chabot is the Lawrence Hall Of Science. I haven't been there for years but I always remembered it being pretty cool. If it stops raining you can also try the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens.

The Exploratorium
Ripleys Believe it or Not (Museum, kind of... down by the warf)
The Metreon
If you've never been to a horse track, you can hop across the bridge and go to Golden Gate Fields. It's a nice drive and view even if you don't bet or anything.
If you do go down to San Jose, check out The Winchester Mystery Mansion, bizarre shit.
If you're into piercings while you're down there. Go to Paisley Hause and get some cool jewelry.
If you like Jazz/Blues and Sushi, Yoshi's is over at Jack London Square in Oakland.
