Argh, I'd forgotten how aggravating it is to find a place that can make nice, *accurate* color prints. It's been so long since I've had to print something! I guess I won't have anything to show the 38 Studios people. :C I just tried Kinko's, which is usually alright, but their internet was down, and then there credit card reader was down, and then it was up again, and then I got my stuff printed, and it looked like super-crepe.

I've heard Office Max is good and offers a really good student discount, so...I'll try that next time. It's like a 20 minute drive away though, so I don't have time to do that before the lecture. Ah well.

I'm reminded how I told myself a few months ago "have some stuff printed, companies come in the spring".

All girls ask inane loaded questions! This is why I studied advertising!!!

Except my gf who is mostly a hippie. She is surprisingly laid back compared to the other women i've dated over the years.

That's not a nice thing to...

    Oh.

    Hippie.

    Well....nice/accurate enough. :P

Things made on a computer will always look best on a screen.

[edit] and actually, for that exact reason, I am glad that most companies prefer a website portfolio instead of a print portfolio. Best presentation, and freeeee! :D

It's a horrible balancing act, printing.
It's almost as if you have to finish your art, ramp up the contrast 200% and then try looking for what's going to piss you off when you pick up the print and try to mitigate it.

I've had some nice surprises when printing things, but they very well could have been un-nice surprises.

Also if possible I try to get printing places to let me do a dry run (I mean, I still pay for it) so I know if I should tweak settings.

Well, our building either has the heat on or the cooling on- I'm pretty sure that, before easter we were getting cold air and after easter we came back to the room boiling hot. We first thought they turned the heat on again but no one else in the building had a problem.

Apparently they re-wired the knob (or something) over break?

    Nope!

They don't do that kind of considerate thing here at cape. If i'm not lazy (i'm totally lazy) I will post pictures of what they did to our bathroom at the start of this year.

(in short, they replaced the light fixture over the summer. Said light fixture comes in contact with the door meaning that, if you want to close the restroom door, you're still left with about a 2 foot gap you can see out of....

    1) how did they change the fixture and not check to see if the door would close.
    2) why does this not seem important enough to fix, even over x-mas break

Sooooooo 38 Studios' presentation was freakin' awesome, they did portfolio reviews even, and a short Q&A, they seem like awesome people

I also saw a handful of game majors I knew / was kinda buddies with, which was awesome, we all said hello to each other...two of these guys are really, really good...both 3D modelers, but their 2D skills are also pretty damn good...absolutely going to be in the industry soon after graduating, I'm sure...and we were all, "it would be totally cool if we worked together somewhere!" and then they told me that apparently I'm "known" in the game design dept, which I thought was hilariously surprising, and random...that people know my name, even if they don't know what I look like.....but that also gave me a huge ego/excitement boost, and I was all, "WOOOO!" and I'm still all, "WOOOO!" and my apathy has drastically subsided....I'm really excited about sending out my portfoliote now, soonish....excite excite yay!

Also I've been looking through Jet Li's filmography for the last hour. I'm convinced he made a movie sometime after Fearless that isn't on any of these lists.

He gets washed up in a small rice village place with no memory and shit. What the hell am I going crazy. Because I am pretty sure I am not.
