Frankencastle is the best Punisher story told in a long time, Mr. Ennis.

    This is why.

From what I've seen nobody seems taken with the actual story or plot or whatever, beyond "Punisher is like Frankenstein with metal bits lolololol look at me I'm a bigger ironic nerd kid than you". It could be all random images like that cover and you wouldn't care.

    Bullshit.

Going to have to disagree with you here.

There is a core story at work in Frankencastle that most people seem to be overlooking. It's not just about Frank Castle becoming a mosnter and then hanging out with a bunch of monsters. It's a cautionary tale that's forcing Frank to confront a dark reflection of himself.

Years ago Frank Castle's family was killed by mobsters, and he has since devoted his life to eradicating them.

Years ago Robert Hellsgaard's family was killed by monsters, and he has since devoted his life to eradicating them.

They've both given their bodies and much of their sanity to their respective quests. But Frank still knows when to stop; he doesn't kill children, and he doesn't kill non-combatants. But in ten years? Twenty? Maybe he'll be like Hellsgaard, wiping out entire bloodlines just to be sure the people he hates are forever wiped from the Earth. Frankencastle, at least the initial arc, is forcing Frank to confront where his quest may eventually bring him, and how it'll affect not only him, but also the world around him.

Keith did you ever eat those Koala cookie snacks when they still made them in the 90's? They had a thin cookie shell and were filled with chocolate inside.

Maybe this cover traumatized Quesada as a kid and is part of why he hates heroes smoking.

I don't know about those other things, but Holocaust definitely happened. He was Nate Grey's main villain for a long time.

    But those minis are great.

616 Power Pack is all grown up so the best we could hope for is the minis to get an ongoing which seems unlikely

The incredible Frank Frazetta died today. He was always a favorite of mine, and was a major inspiration to a lot of the artists I grew up with, and I never saw anybody who could do dark fantasy art the way he did:

I'd definitely recommend the documentary about his life and style to anybody interested in pulp art or comics.
