What irritates me is that your mobility doesn't change if you swap weapons. You can start with a riot shield and swap it for a sniper and you'll still run as if through tar.

In some cases the secondary weapons are better then most of the primary weapons. See: the Raffs, SPAS12 and the Magnum revolver (on hardcore only)
Don't forget dual G18s. Apparently you can shoot people in the face at a gazillion yards with them. So much for losing accuracy. Sometimes I hate this game (like today).

The Rafficas are pocket M16s, and you can dual-wield them.
The SPAS has its own religion.
The Magnum has no sway and is a goddamn sniper rifle.

Lightweight Pro is so good with an M1014, you never lose if you come around a corner at the same time.
Now, why the M93 pulls almost as fast is beyond me, considering it's a shotgun.
o_O
the M93R isn't a shotgun, it's a machine pistol variant of the Beretta M92. it's a pretty obscure weapon, kinda like the WA2000 (not quite as rare though).

He's being sarcastic. The M93 is the best sidearm in the game - long range, or shotgun range.

To add to this hipfiring an M16(M93) is called "Shotgun" mode.
A good reason to use pistols is because they pull out super fast, sniper rifles take a long time to switch from, many snipers run with steady aim pro, and akimbo they can kill in 1 shot.

So I bought the maps; much as I hate to say it, they were worth the price.
Overgrown and Crash are, of course, kick ass. And the new ones are very well designed, at least compared to some of the default bullshit that IW shoved into the game (Wasteland... Ugh).
A little more campaign/Spec Ops meat couldn't have hurt, but whatever.
Any tips for someone that wants to start sniping? I'm really pretty terrible.
Stopping power pro and Steady aim pro go a long way
It's really about map knowledge, knowing where people are going to be lurking, which corners people are going to be coming around. Pick either the Intervention or the Barret and stick with it.
Any tips for someone that wants to start sniping? I'm really pretty terrible.
Same as using any other gun, it's all about finding a good position that's difficult to shoot into or get into. The only difference is that if you get caught at close range, you're working at a disadvantage, since your options involve either switching to your secondary, which puts you at greater risk, or try to go for the no-scope.
You also need to adopt different tactics; it's not like an SMG or AR where you can just spam rounds across the map; you actually need to aim.
Stopping Power is a must for one-hit kills, unless you're playing HC. Steady Aim is a must as well, if not only for the extra time in the steady animation, but also so you can get those clutch no-scopes at close range. Scavenger/Claymores are useful, but you might want to consider using Tac Inserts as well, just in case you find a good spot, and you want to get back up there quick if you get shot.
And stick with the Barret or the Intervention; WA2000 and EBR have good firing rates, but their damage ratios are nowhere near as high.
I would like to point out that any of the first 3 sniper rifles will kill in one hit to the head or chest without stopping power, and stopping power only helps the first two to kill to the lower body as well. I am an avid WA2000 user, so take that into consideration.

so im basically tech-ignorant. a friend of mine plays this on PS3, like i do, but with an ethernet cable hooked up to his PS3 instead of playing on a wireless network like i do. He claims the lag is almost non-existent, and for me this game is crossing the horizon into unplayability. I never get into games at under 100ms ping, and then i still run 2-3 bars consistently. Does that make sense? Should i switch to a cable internet hook-up?
So apparently hardcore is full of people who plant claymores and camp in corners...At least in my experience so far. Also, not that many people seemed to be taking advantage of the free weekend.

Hardcore is full of people aware that running around in the open is near certain death. There's a fair bit of camping, but once you know the maps, it becomes far more advantageous to move around carefully checking the usual haunts for free kills.
The claymores thing is why I roll with Sit Rep Pro
God something is wrong with me. Put an ACR or an UMP in my hands and I proceed to flail wildly, shooting marshmellows in the general direction of the enemy. Can't get a kill to save my damn life (in fact I tend to end up dead)
I'll take my RPD or SPAS or SCAR or TAR or M4 or Vector or Mini-Uzi...or just about anything else, thanks.

Well, the ACR is kinda mediocre. It's really just a crutch for bad aiming and recoil control. Once you can learn to fix those, you use something else. Like the FAMAS, which is retarded.
As for the UMP, I don't know what to tell you. You've got a really fast AR with a 32 round magazine and better hipfire.
Also, the WA2000 is my favorite sniper rifle. Anyone who says they can't use it or that it's terrible is wrong. One-shot kills to the chest and head without SP, low recoil, unique, and it sounds amazing. Learn to aim and not be terrible at sniping and you'll come to love it like a firstborn. I'm pretty much bias towards it anyways, since something about .300 Win Mag just makes me uuhnnnggg in my pants.
What's wrong with wireless gaming? I do it all the time without any hitches.
Just get a cat 5 cable they're sold everywhere. You can find them cheap online if you can wait for delivery. What're the wireless specs on your router, out of curiosity?

Aye, my wireless works fine. I don't use it just because I prefer the "guaranteed" capability of the wires. If some magical magnet is blocking my wireless and gets me killed, fuck wireless.

Stopping Power doesn't benefit it so you can roll Cold Blooded which is nice. But you have to get head or chest for a one shot kill unlike the Barrett and Intervention which have a bit more options.

where exactly would i find the specs for my router? Go ahead, laugh at my ignorance.
I just grinded through a bunch of sniping in a desperate attempt to get the heartbeat detector, hoping it would grant me magical powers in sneaking around and ambushing people.
But I was wrong.
At least I am poor instead of terrible at sniping now.
Now it's on par with my killing power in the rest of the game. I still can't seem to get above second to last in any team deathmatch games, and the only way I can do well in objective games, is by building characters specifically for the objective and focusing on that.
In that vein, I unlocked the sentrygun killstreak because lol I like sentry guns. But I have two more kill streak unlocks, but I can't think of what else to get considering I have never even made a five kill streak yet...

If you'd like a few pointers for sniping in a TDM scenario, I can help you there.
First, you are never ever going to stay in the same spot for more than two kills, especially if it's the same person twice. Being sniped pisses people off, and they will come after you. Second, cover your ass. One of the three keys of gunfighting, videogame or reality, is to never be flanked. You're always going to want some type of protection for your rear, whether it be Claymores, teammates, or Trojan condoms. Third, hang with your team. If you get isolated, run like a motherfucker towards your team, because no matter how much we talk about the Rafficas and SPAS-12, you are not going to kill 6 people by yourself with a secondary.
Other than those main rules, try to avoid close-quarters areas, always move ("Dancing", moving from side to side or in a circle while waiting for a target), and never rush your shots.
And don't use a goddamn HBS, because it's just another thing to pay attention to. Use FMJ rounds, and if you can't get someone's head through the window, get his chest through the wall.
It seems I get hate mail for what ever I do in this game:
Barret 50 cal hard scoping = Hatemail
Intervention hard / Quick Scoping = Hatemail
MP5k / Muzi = Hatemail
F2000 = Hatemail
RPD with Stinger class = Hatemail
