That was my reaction. I thought for sure they would have woodstock as a location since that performance kinda broke them nationally.
I don't really get using the bullet in a bible concert as the venue for an entire decade of their career. Dookie has its own venue, 21st Century Breakdown has its own venue and then the last one is for everything else?
That venue is for 21st century songs. The "Catch All" is the Bullet in a Bible venue.
And I'm not knocking the venues themselves. Just saying that using a concert from 2004 as the venue for a decades worth of songs as opposed to adding in another venue and breaking it up. or even splitting it up a little differently.
When I think of songs off of Insomniac I dont think of american idiot-era Green Day.
The lack of venues isnt the biggest deal in the world. I'd be curious to hear the reasoning behind it though.
And I suppose it's long since time to give up hope for any more Beatles DLC.
Pretty much. God only knows what the fuck they were thinking when they licensed the band the way they did. Adhering to the Sunk Cost Fallacy is pure bullshit, but you don't license The Beatles for a video game and then half-ass the amount of content.
I'll agree. I mean, I know it was a pain in the ass to have to go back and forth to Abby Road to manually separate the tracks, but if you're spending $10 million minimum for the rights to everything then you may as well send an extra couple of guys to prep as many tracks as you can while you're at it.
And as far as the three venues goes, I'm sure it's a cost-saving measure. Not too hard a stretch to make considering Viacom said they'd be taking costs into more consideration when licensing songs from now on. From a business standpoint this makes a hell of a lot more sense than going nuts with a dozen or so (even if it sucks from the fans' perspective).
Well they could do more than just the venues. I know there won't be any of the dreamscapes that were in TB:RB, but we could see more music video type of situations. I mean, all in all, how many venues were in TB:RB?

Depends on what your take on the dreamscapes is. They all started in Abbey Road and went somewhere. And then there was five(?) actual venues. So technically, at least twice as many as GDRB.
No matter what you think of the band or HMX, GDRB is looking like a bad idea.
Even if this is just HMX's version of half-assing to get out of a contractual obligation, it still sounds like it'll be miles better than Guitar Hero: Who's Sammy Hagar?

I don't believe they're half-assing GDRB. But the way it's shaping up is looking like a bad idea. If it turns out that the avatars and venues do indeed export/import into RB3, then it's perfectly understandable why there aren't too many. But still, why limit to three? Why not just 'upgrade' some of the better venues from RB2 or use GDRB to debut some of the venues as they'll appear in RB3?
And that the setlists aren't particularly varied is also a concern. I'm not that much of a Green Day fan. You're right that even if this is HMX half-assing it, it'll be better than most (or even all) of GH's efforts, but there is a considerable lack of variety all around. The AC/DC pack is an easier sell based on being a single concert. This is supposed to be a snapshot of an entire career. It's pretty lackluster, all in all.
On guitar? That shouldn't be surprising. The charting for the Hendrix songs pushes the limits for what should be the acceptable balance between realism and fun. And it leans definitely toward realism.
Really? I still find it run, just...you know, it rapes me
But that's cool, because songs that usually challenge me are some bullshit metal songs that I never want to hear again as long as I live

I wasn't trying to say they aren't fun. Only that they probably stuck a bit too close to 'real'. Not being a particular Hendrix fan, the charting turned me off except for maybe one song (Little Wing). And I usually only eschew songs based on the charts if they're crazy-stupid or too much rapid strumming.
Here are the recent list of songs for RBN officially available in-game since the last time. Colour coded for price convenience. (Example links included where available. * means it's not an 'in-game' chart.)
People gave a shit because they couldn't look at an easy to view list of their star count. There is simply no end to the amount of grousing Rock Band games can generate.
That Smash Mouth song just makes me think of Mystery Men...which is a good thing . We're also finally getting some of The Used which makes me a little happy. I may only end up picking up The Taste of Ink. I always found it funny that The Used was originally marketed as "The singer pukes on stage cause he sings so hardcore."
They need some Buried Myself Alive with harmonies.
I was just curious if anyone new where i could find a list of rockband songs listed by time. We are having a wingman day and one of the "challenges" that we will be doing is that people have to beat me on drums at rockband . Thing is the commander wants me to try to keep the songs under 4 mins. So i was hoping there was an easy way for me to make up a list for the "Challengers" to pick from without playing all 600 songs on my hardrive with a stopwatch XD.

It would probably be easier to show songs that are over 4 minutes.
Most of them are comfortably around the 3 minute mark.
Speaking of which, Rush is touring this year and like other bands, they're playing a full album at each show, in this case its Moving Pictures. I wonder if they can just play the first half of that one.

I'm sure you already know that, but just sayin'
You don't know what you're talking about!
By the way, as if to prove the point just because they can...
Apparently, there was some discussion about the source for the Serj Tankian tracks. It seems that at some point information stated it was from some live album or other. Predictably, people were thrilled about this. So new information comes to light:
Okay guys, here's some new info that would have been good for all of us to know about 12 hours ago... those Serj Tankian tracks are from the studio version of Elect the Dead. They are NOT the the live versions from the Elect the Dead Symphony live album.
Sorry for the confusion. It was a surprise to us as well. There was a miscommunication with the Audio team and we didn't get the correction until just now. We're hammering things out with them to make sure it doesn't happen again, and we're editing the Announcement post and Zine article right after I make this post. [...]
On the topic of venues, I just can't bring myself to give a shit
Like all of Harmonix's bitching that they have to come up with all new dreamscapes for every new Beatles song in addition to the studio time
Just give us the rest of the essential content you fuckers, nobody cares about what's going on in the background
You could have the whole background video be John Lennon in a bathroom stall taking a massive dump while singing Help! and I'd be perfectly happy with it
Great, so they aren't even going to give people the songs they want. Way to play their cards close to the chest. So close that they aren't even playing anymore.
I guess they had to save something for later in the game's life cycle, right? :?

We have no right to complain, we got What Goes On!
Who needs Hey Jude
Or Help!
Or Yesterday
Or Let It Be
Or Happiness is a Warm Gun
Or Love Me Do
Or She Loves You
Or... holy fuck they missed a ton of really important stuff
Hey, I'm a pretty big Rush fan, but Camera Eye and Vital Signs.... they push my limits.
You're a Rush fan who doesn't like The Camera Eye? TCE is like, the holy grail of songs Rush never plays live, and you're complaining?
Nah I'm just giving you a hard time. Honestly I think Moving Pictures is a bit too over-hyped, and besides, they played the entire album sans TCE last tour anyway. If they just played Limelight and maybe Tom Sawyer I wouldn't be sad. Other albums need love too you know! *cough*Rollthebones*cough*

As much as I love System, Serj's solo album isn't really RB material. It's too out there.
System is a killer for guitar and drums. I could se "Lie Lie Lie" from his his solo album being a good vocal exercise.
edit: And I would really like "Holy Mountain" up there, for purely nostalgic reasons.

Guess they had to balance things out from Gaga and Hendrix

One dollar
Two dollars
I've been playing Rock Band/Rock Band 2 for... 3 or 4 years now (?), and I don't think I even remember what a single venue looks like.
I'm sure you already know that, but just sayin'
