Personally, I saw it first, before noticing the map marker. And holy fucking psyduck...

It's too bad that a lot of the heavy weapons only appear in predetermined areas in bases or in missions. I would love it if once you lasted long enough with enough heat, instead of sending infinite helicopters, they would sometimes send like...special forces kill teams armed with grenade launchers, rocket launchers, and sniper rifles.

That would be pretty cool. Though the homing rockets make me rage. :P
I never noticed the mile high club. I was just running around and I could hear the distant thump thump of the techno music, and kept wondering what it was. Then I looked up.
So I was at that one military airfield in the northeast, near the refinery that you take over with the Ullars, and had an inspiration: I wanted to take out the colonel there with a plane. By landing one on him.
I never could quite manage it, though. I would come in and crash within a few feet of him, ejecting at the last split-second, but that didn't seem to faze him. I then tried just shooting missiles at him from a plane while it was on the tarmac, but still couldn't hit him by the time the soliders had caught the plane on fire. So, having exhausted my options, I found the nearest razorback and did it the old-fashioned way. Has anyone successfully landed a plane on a dude?
Yeah, theres a general situated at a dock, can't remember exactly which one, I think it was to the West. Just flew in high and then straight down onto him. I took out the other general on the other side of the bank using missiles right before so it was pretty epic.

I've jumped out of a helicopter and had it land on a colonel...never tried it with a plane before. New objective!

Did I miss something? Last agency mission they revealed the three big bads pulling the faction strings, but now Rico suddenly knows where they're staying and has epic showdowns with each of them? Did I rack up too much chaos and skip an agency mission in between, or is Rico just that damn fast?

Well, one of the fraction leaders should call you to pass on some secret information, because they trust you after you have blown up so much for them. They reveal that the two string-pullers of the opposing factions are staying in a hotel, then it turns out that they are all staying in the same hotel. If you've been doing a lot of missions and causing a lot of chaos, you can breeze through the agency missions.
Yeah, if you did a shitload of blowing-stuff-up and are going back through to do the agency missions, some things won't make sense. If you do missions, then just enough chaos to unlock the next mission, and so on, you get phone calls and stuff spaced at intervals throughout. If you do all the chaos you need first, and then do the missions, you finish one mission, get a shitload of phone calls to set up the next mission, and so on.
Can anyone recommend some mods for me? Primarily the free market one that someone mentioned in the steam thread would be great. I want to get into the game a bit more and play through but the fact I do have to pay for stuff from the black market does reduce the fun somewhat. If I could freely tool up at all times then the carnage would be absolute.
Just picked up the dlc for this and it's the perfect opportunity to get back into the game.

Oh man. I just had the greatest finish to an air challenge.
About two rings from the end some SAMs launched at me and it turned out they were only slightly faster than my plane. So I was watching the two missiles slowly creep up the screen as I tried to steer through the rings.
As soon as I finished they hit me. I love this game.
This game is gorgeous and wonderfully corny. My only issues are 1) Lack of ammo, and 2) the sheer space between locations is enormous, and 3) too sensitive vehicle controls.

The space between locations is so you can grapplechute your way around going "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" or surfing on top of cars or stealing helicopters or jets or why the hell have I been playing anything else since I finished the story in this? Goodbye Skyrim.

Everyone stop talking about amazingness...my gamebank is too big to go back for more JC2!
I think I'm going to play more JC2 the next time I have a chance to blow stuff up for a few hours...
And I completely agree about the water, and I'm not even running on a computer that can do really high settings!
Edit to save double post:
I jumped onto the island for about 30 minutes after work before we had to leave for dinner. This game is still so amazing.
I walked around, saw some Colonel or something of one of the forces, and I got shot at as I approached. Naturally, I take cover and blow away anyone who dares come close with my sawed-off. Their leader is about 10 feet away, and it said to go for headshots because they have lots of armor. I aim, pull, and take about 75% of his health with one shot. Then I shoot him once more and start making a dash to get away from the many troops firing at me.
I run past a building to find...a helicopter! I smile as I see my perfect getaway! I get in and...can't fly it? So I run away!
End up having some militia on me, the get out of their jeep to fire at me, I climb into their jeep and speed away, taking a turn and parachuting out (then I heard explosions...presumably my former transport crashing into another car). Climb a small mountain, run around to the far side and find my island paradise escape.
I'm not sure I actually accomplished anything while I was plan, but man was it fun!
This thread being necro bumped made me pop it back in last night to try and finish the game. Then I got distracted by trying to 100 percent a base and couldn't find the last structure to destroy/item to find. Got frustrated, shot a lot of people, then kept buying jets that got wrapped around telephone poles.

I find it's easiest to collect as many crates as you can while looking out for explodey stuff before any Heat builds up. As much fun as this is, I think trying to 100% everything would quickly lead to burn-out.
Some sad news regarding my earlier spoiler:
Tom Sheldon just didn't sound like Richard "Goddamn Sully" McGonagal. Further research revealed he was only in the first Just Cause.

Yeah, trying to 100% stuff had me burning out on the game when I first started doing it.
Later on as I figured out where stuff was likely to be, it became a game rather than frustrating.
I'd say go for it until you notice yourself getting bored or annoyed, then go somewhere else and blow some shit up.
I use an 'infinite' ammo mod (its not really infinite, just gives you a max of 15k smg roudns for example), and a mod that ups the police response. I also use one that makes civilians not flee their cars when there is gunfire around them. This lets you ride atop cars and trucks witht he civvie as your getaway driver.
I went through the whole thing with the 'everything free at the black market' mod. It may have broken the game, but it was still a whole lot of fun, and it was nice not having to worry about paying for things.

This is on sale on gamersgate for 3.74 this weekend. I just picked it up. It's steamworks too so you can just plug the code into steam.
I was wondering how most of you play on PC? I've been using KBAM but I can't help but think it'd be easier using the 360 controller for stuff like driving.
kbam worked fine, but I find that kbam works pretty much for everything, so that's just me. Shooting accuracy isn't all that important, so if you want to play with a controller, you won't be at a disadvantage.

YES! I saw that on the map and was like, whats this, then when I reached the part of the large island where i could actually see it I was all o_O
and

Best moment of the game for me.
Flying around, I see something and wonder what it is. Takes forever to get there.
And then as Im approaching, wondering what the hell Ive stumbled on...
"...is that techno music?"
awesome.

Getting that achievement + some of those races has made me crash into bridge pylons I don't know how many times.
