I would like a secondary indicator for stuff you gotta destroy.
That would certainly save time, but how much do we really need here?
There is already an indicator for every side mission/challenge/collectable on the map. We also get a proximity meter for the weapon parts.. if we had another meter that showed destroyables, we would never take our eyes off of the minimap! We could play the entire game just quickly glancing back and forth from Rico to the indicator.
In all seriousness though, I don't mind playing "Destructable Hunt" when I enter an area. Everything else is handed to me on a silver platter more or less, so I don't find that bothersome.
I did it over the beach in the very southwestern part of the islands, and thought it was so easy I went to 70ish seconds. Which brings me to ask: why does my stats screen show that my longest low-flyer was 5 seconds, and my longest perfect kill streak is 1, when I have the achievements for each?
Because you didn't save your game afterwards.
For people having trouble with the low-flyer achievement, you can do it very easily along rivers.
I certainly did save my game though. Also, my longest perfect killstreak is 1. There is no way that any time I've shot two guys wthout being hurt I've then turned off the game and forgotten to save.
My mistake then. I just remember doing the stunt jump one and then later seeing my points around 21. I figured it was because I didn't save (which I didn't).
Just now, I see my low flyer record is at 0s. Weird.

Have you tried clearing out the main city yet? I assure you, you'll want one.

I agree, for me I found Taxi's in GTA IV a pain because all I would do was catch taxi's everywhere to save time. Would the same thing happen with an indicator in JC?

Oh I am sure that part is going to be a pain in the ass. Still, adding a hand-holding mechanic so that 10% of the game world is less frustrating, while making the other 90% boring is not the solution. Instead, the city sections should have been designed better. I mean, I say that if you're a completionist and have to 100% the game, because I don't think I'm going to 100% those areas.
For someone who isn't too into missions in sandbox games, is this game worth getting or will the demo suffice?
Just get it. It's awesome.
Here's the real best indicator - we're 111 pages in, and no one has come in here complaining about the game. Even the Uncharted 2 thread had its detractors.
Honestly, worst part of the game: it takes like 2 hours to do each mission.
Mainly because you get so sidetracked by all the explosions and cool stuff to do. 8-)
That's about how long it takes me just to GET to the mission start point.
"Hmm I could extract there, or I could steal a military jet and do something ridiculous with it."
Speaking of which, I'm gonna go find that zeppelin and blow it up.

I'm telling ya, that's just going to add $10 to the final price of the game.. you'll end up buying it!
I didn't really enjoy GTAIV as much as I thought I would, and that was because the missions were so boring and repetitive. I also didn't like the controls and found that they worked against me most the time.
With JC2, I ignored the missions for about 15 hours of game play. I just ran around causing havoc and unlocking shit, and I loved it. Then, I decided to give the missions a shot and was pleasantly suprised. They were much more varied and enjoyable than the GTAIV variety, and they didn't take forever either. Factions missions take maybe 10 minutes in total, so even if you do die during one, it's not a big loss to have to redo them.
Don't waste your money on a rental. Try the demo, and if you like it, you'll like the game. Plain and simple. The game is exactly like the demo but bigger and no time limit. Oh, and all the shit at your disposal is sort of drip-fed to you in the beginning, whereas the demo you're sort of plopped down in the middle of nowhere.
That's kind of what I didn't like about the demo.. "why drive the car when I can drive a motorcycle? Why drive the motorcycle? Wait, here's a helicopter. Wait, this one shoots missiles and has guns. Wait, here's an airplane.."
I feel like they threw all the cool shit in it.

But then the full game says "Fuck all that, here's a jet that shoots four missiles at once."

Speaking of, I went on a strafing run this one time with the G9 Eclipse, then had to bail out i was flying straight into a treeline. I never heard an explosion. Can that thing plow through trees or did it maybe just make it over the forest?
Also, I find it very difficult to make successful strafing runs with the jets. Am I missing something?

I find the smaller, harrier-like jet to be more useful. The G9 is just too big and awkward and cumbersome. It takes too much effort to point its guns groundwards, and you need to start to pull away from the ground a good kilometer from your target or you'll end up on the ground. I always hit the SAMs first, so that I can go more slowly. Of course, nothing I do makes the jets more effective at wiping out a base than a helicopter.
I disagree. Bolo is even just an exageration of a SE asian, charismatic public speaker. Baby Panay is just Song in NKorea. All of them are just ridiculous exaggerations of some group or person. Just go around the cities in the game.
It sounds awful and unbelievable, because it is mocking.
My chopper assault on an oil rig out in the water was short lived. I was not anticipating anti-air defenses.
Also I'm so happy that triggered explosives use changes contextually. Normally you throw it, unless you're currently in stunt position on an enemy vehicle. Then you lovingly affix it to their transportation instead. Release chute, float to safety, hold down trigger, boom.
I do so many vehicle assassinations that way.
I've also been enjoying statue tipping using other people's transportation. Just standing by the roadside, linking up the statue's hand to a passing vehicle will usually pull it over. Hilarious.

A good way to use the G9 is to drive it around on the ground where you steal it and blow everything up with the minigungrenadelaunchers in 2 seconds.

Is there anything at all under water? I've found myself swimming once or twice when my parachute didn't get me quite across a body of water but never really saw anything below.
Yeah the flying a plane under water was standard in the first game. Now flying a plane upside down under water was a challenge. I pride myself on being able to do it, right under a bridge. Wasn't easy I tell you.

I've found some black boxes underwater, but that's about it.

There's some coral, sea weed, fish, etc. Swimming at night or during a storm is so scary, though. Make sure you swim when it's sunny.
I've actually taken to driving places on the other side of the map lately. Following the road GPS the whole way, albiet at highly unsafe speeds. With the added self imposed restriction of staying in a car until it's no longer drivable.
Sometimes I like to hop on a random car and ride it until it's no longer going my way, then transferring to one that is. Kinda like riding the bus! When you start getting chased by army dudes, you're free to grapple them to things.
I really want there to be a mod for the PC that tweaks the health regen so it will go back up to full, rather than a half or third. Would make fights in the big military bases feel a lot more fun.
I just got this a few days ago and its great so far, I only did the first 2 missions to unlock certain stuff, and I've been preoccupied with fucking around, finding upgrade crates and 100% places.
I took the "Hardcore" difficulty, hot damn, thats no understatement, I dont want it lower, but it was quite an eye opener getting raped by those soldiers after ignoring them in the demo.

What the hell is at 9170, 11413? It says it's a discovered civilian village on my map (Bandar Selekeh), but there is nothing there. Nothing.
Maybe that "discovered location" is just a bug, and there shouldn't be an icon on the map.. but it counted toward your locations.
You'll want the game. This is the perfect game for someone who isn't too into missions.

It is very difficult to ride a plane into a mountain and safely grapple onto that mountain without coming within inches of the continue screen.
However, that became my mountain. I rode a jet into it, it's mine, god dammit.
Also, strapping two jets together does not work as well as it might seem. I didn't make it out of that one.

The planes are made of "ifyougetitwetitexplodesium". Very dangerous. (not vulnerable to rain, though).
