Record label design

It's become necessary for my musical exploits for me to have a custom record to scratch the voices of people I'm doing tracks with. That's no problem.

HOWEVER

I need a snazzy label to go on top--if I'm going to pay $80 or whatever they're asking for this thing, I don't want a crappy white label with sharpie on it or whatever. So here's what I've come up with so far, and I'm looking for suggestions:

I wish the closing quotations were angled out, instead of parallel to the opening ones.

The design is pretty clean, though.

    I really don't.

Re: the quotation marks, it's a bit of a tradition with that style of text to keep them parallel. I appreciate the suggestion, though

This is not bad, but you should explore more alternatives. At work, if I have to make a cover I like to make 3 significantly diffrent designs, then I choose the best one.

    EDIT:

That grafiti is hard to read, even more so on top of that dragon. I'd re consider that aspect of the design. Find a hip-hop creative way around making all your text legible.

    Why? :D

I will try and come up with some alternate designs though.

I ended up having to read title backwards and cock my head to see what it said

I would suggest at least making it slightly more legible. But it does look pretty nice as is.

as far as the rest of the look goes, it's nice and clean (actually, it reminded me of some Samurai Champloo art for their albums, har har).

Try playing around with colors and fonts some more. Have some fun. ^_^

And have you thought about using clear vinyl? Or marbled vinyl (clear vinyl marbled with white looks bad-ass)? Those can really lend to an interesting look. Although if you do go with a marbled vinyl for the record, you have make sure some other things are simplified a little more (like the title), so as not to make it look too cluttered.

Will do...what I want to do with this one is kind of work some of the organic stylized imagery from the top into the bottom half, which is currently kind of static and sci-fi looking. Fonts are probably the first thing to start with.

Yeah, the site has got clear discs and picture discs, but ultimately I decided it looked a little too goofy :P
