Update for 7/28: We are completely sold out. 130 tickets sold in about 3 weeks; that's 6.2 tickets per day! The response was absolutely incredible. I'll be nailing down final details like menu options, bracelet/packet delivery, and prizes for the raffle in the time leading up to PAX.
If you didn't get a ticket, unfortunately you won't be allowed in. I'm sorry if you didn't get to this in time. We increased attendance by a full third over last year's party, so next year there will hopefully be an even bigger, better party that you can attend. Again, my apologies if you didn't get a ticket.
Keep an eye on this thread for details and announcements leading up to PAX. In the meantime, have a look at the first raffle prize up for grabs...
Thanks again, everyone who bought tickets, donated, and otherwise contributed (or will contribute!) to the party. Original thread and updates are below.
Update for 7/20: There are only 27 tickets left, but currently EventBrite is experiencing technical difficulties that are preventing people from increasing the ticket quantity above 0. So, nobody can buy tickets right now. Thus:
If you're worried about the event selling out and you want to make sure you get your ticket, please do the following until I get this straightened out:
1) Send $40 (US) per ticket, plus any raffle donations, to my PayPal,
postpaxdinner@gmail.com.
2) E-mail that same address with the following information, putting something appropriately obvious (like, "Post Pax Party Info" or something) into the subject line.
Name
Handle
Address
Number of tickets
Any additional names/handles for additional attendees, if you care.
Please make sure this info is the same or very similar to your PayPal info, so I know who's who. I'll create a ticket for you manually through EventBrite, and you should receive a confirmation e-mail just like you bought your ticket normally.
Also, raffle is above $400!
Previous updates:
Update for 7/17: Tickets are selling faster and faster the closer we get to selling out. There are 43 tickets left and they're going at a rate of 5+ a day. Tickets will probably sell out in the next week or so.
Also, the raffle fund is currently over $350! That means AWESOME prizes for the raffle, and that's in addition to anything anyone wants to donate!
Update for 7/15: Since registration went live a week ago, we've sold over half the tickets. I would expect ticket sales to last another two weeks or so. If you're on the fence about coming to the party, I'd buy your tickets sooner rather than later. Just like last year, we ARE going to sell out and we ARE limited on space.
REGISTRATION IS LIVE!

Last year's thread:
http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?t=87272
Original post, including a brief FAQ:
Hi, everyone!
A few of you have inquired about the Post-PAX Party at the Taphouse, and whether or not I'm going to be in charge of putting it together again for this year.
I wanted to let everyone know well ahead of time that:
YES, we're going to do it again...
YES, we're going to be at The Taphouse again...
and YES, we're annexing the room next door with the additional pool table and TV.
Ask anyone who went last year: it was an awesome party. Highlights include an all-you-can-eat gourmet appetizer buffet, two giant projectors at our disposal (last year we did Rock Band and SSB:B), four pool tables that we can play on, our own private bartender, and free reign of the whole back area of the restaurant, which is reserved for private functions. This year we're going to acquire the Club Room next door, so we'll gain a 5th pool table and a 50" HDTV, which we can also hook a console up to. The party, with the food, private bartender, lasts 3 hours; however, last year we went well beyond that, until the place closed.
Here are some pictures of the fun we had last year! (Some of these are stolen from DaNerd, he's an awesome photog.)
And here are some higher quality pictures of the venue:
And finally, here's a brief and basic FAQ:
Q: When is this event taking place?
A: Sunday, Sept. 5. probably around 7:30 or 8:00.
Q: Where is this event taking place?
A: The Taphouse Bar & Grill, 1506 6th Ave, Seattle, WA. Within sight of the WSCTC.
Q: How long will this event last?
A: The room is all ours for 3 hours. During that time we get the buffet and the private bartender, and we have the projectors with consoles and the pool tables all to ourselves. At the end of the 3 hours the space becomes public, so if we want to use the pool tables we have to pay for them. We're also supposed to disconnect the consoles; however, last year I worked with the staff to keep them plugged in until the place closed. As long as we're awesome guests and customers, I think they'll be okay with that this year.
Q: Is this event 21+?
A: Nope. All ages, but if you're under 21 please don't drink or try to drink.
Q: How much will this event cost?
A: Last year the ticket price was $37.50. It should be similar this year, but I haven't nailed down the final price yet.
Q: Do I need to buy a ticket, or can I just show up?
A: You do need to buy a ticket in advance, and space is limited. Once we get closer to the event I'll have an EventBrite registration page up, and it will take major credit cards or PayPal.
Q: What kind of food is served?
A: Appetizer-type stuff. Last year it was steak sandwiches, chicken fingers, potstickers, sushi and nigiri, hummus, pita, fruit, vegetables, cheese and crackers. Soda, tea, and coffee are also included in the ticket price, and the food is served for the duration of the party. We'll be choosing individual menu options over again this year.
Q: Is alcohol served?
A: Yes, plus we have two private bars and bartenders at our disposal. It's also worth noting that The Taphouse has 160 beers on tap.
Q: Is alcohol included in the ticket price?
A: No.
Q: I heard you have video games. What kind?
A: Last year we had a 360 with Rock Band and a Wii with SSB:B hooked up to the two 120" projectors that the Taphouse provides. We'll probably have a similar setup this year, plus we'll have a 50" HDTV in the Club Room available to us, too. If anyone wants to offer up consoles, instruments, or games, please contact me!
Hope to see you all there! Expect further details, registration, and a bigger thread as we get closer to PAX!

If I end up with enough money in a few months then I'll go ahead and register for this, unless another networking party is setup. This would be loads of fun.

160 beers on tap.
Here's a quick shot of the main bar, and the taps, that I took last year: We get two (I think) on tap for our private bar, and you're always welcome to wander out into the restaurant and get one of the other 138.

He makes things way too fun.
We need to find a local that bring their stuff in.
In your highlights you forgot to mention that we played Beatles Rock Band before it was released.

That was awesome. Thanks to Groove for that, and you for donating the hardware.
I'm sure we'll be okay on the 360 front. There are almost more 360s than people at PAX.

{Fondly remembers the PAXTrain}
As several people have mentioned, it was really crowded, the buffet line sucked, we only had one bar open, and they ran out of food. The party was awesome, but it definitely had room for improvement. I won't be happy until I've spoken with Lindsay at length about these issues and I'm satisfied that they'll be improved upon.
Also: we can back out of the contact up until a month before the event with no penalty or fee, so don't worry about the contract thing.

I'm booked on a later flight this year, so no ducking out early for me and pussying out to go nap before hopping a lift to the airport.

To avoid the huge line, they could put each buffet option around the room so that instead of 1 station everyone has to line up for, there's 5-8 stations and people can drift between them?
Any ballpark on the cost?
Thanks for organizing!
'Twas a little under $40 last year.
Indeed, and cost should be similar this year.
