I threw a wad of cash at my monitor, it didn't go through the internet at Arco like I was hoping it would so I guess I'll just find another way to throw money at you over the internet.

I tried throwing my credit card and that didn't work either.

I will try a money order tomorrow and let you know how that worked.

So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.

I would recommend not trying a roll of quarters.

This sounds like a lot of fun. Last year was my first PAX and I remember thinking after the Omegathon, "This can't be over already, I'm having too much fun." The post PAX dinner seems like a great way to prolong the PAX "high" that I have had withdrawals from all year. I'm looking forward to sharing some food, drinks, and laughs with everyone.

I had way too much fun over 4th weekend and I didn't get around to making the EventBrite page. Perhaps I will make it tomorrow at work. We'll see. Either way, it's coming soon!

Last year I crashed this as it was ending after teardown was mostly done. Might do the same thing this year unless we can finish teardown quickly.

Forget that last post by me. That last post was all "wahhh wahhh wahhh, I'm so busy, I'm such a baby, blah blah blah."

Instead, check out this new post, because this new post has the goods.

    REGISTRATION IS LIVE

I'll be updating the OP with relevant details like last year, putting up the blog with polls for the appetizer buffet, and sprucing up the registration page in the next few days. But it's live and the machinery works, as far as I can tell. So stop throwing money at your monitor, and throw it at my PayPal account instead.

Some notes: the ticket price went up. This is what had to happen if we want to cut down on overcrowding like last year, and it's also because EventBrite raised their ticketing fees. It's a $2.50 hike from last year, but I think it's worth it.

I've also put a Raffle Donation ticket on the page. If you want to toss in $10 or $100 for the raffle, go for it.

Any suggestions, criticisms, problems, etc. let me know. REGISTER NOW!

Are we still going to be rocking 150 people, then? I remember some grumblings about how the room's maximum capacity was more like crowded capacity than comfortable capacity.

Also, one bartender? Will bar service be a little faster this time around? =)

    Rius on

    edited July 2010
Well, part of the reason we only had one bartender last year was because the second bar was broken and not usable. I'll check with Lindsay to ensure that it's been fixed for this year, and check if we have more than one bartender. I'll definitely relay the concerns we had about service.

We won't be rocking 150 people. We're going to be rocking about 130. It's not a huge cut, but it will thin things out a little bit. Plus with the two rooms people will be shuffling between, which will cause the party to spill into the hallway a bit and take the strain off of the rooms themselves.

If you guys have ANY concerns, please post them like Rius did. Lindsay is great about answering e-mails and getting back to me, and I relay everything you guys say to her.

    So boughted.
I guess it was slightly crowded last year but still uber fun.
Is there a list of the attendees again on the eventbrite page? I don't think I saw that. Not that important but it was fun seeing the list grow last year.

Why is there a job title field that is required to be filled out?

    EskimoDave on
  • ArcoArco Registered User regular
    edited July 2010
It's not actually your job title. It's your handle. EventBrite won't let me add custom fields, but I don't want to publicize people's real names. So I had to pick a field for populating the attendees list at the bottom of the page, and that one was the least inappropriate.

Not a perfect solution, I know.

probably going to sign up for this, despite not being very active on the forums for the last....6 or so years. Looks like it could be a fun way to end the PAX festivities, checking to see if any of the other folks that will be attending PAX with me are interested.

i am curious though, the event brite page says there are 144 tickets left, which is most definitely more than 130 limit mentioned above. Just figured i'd point that out.

Just a suggestion, would the Taphouse be willing to split the food up onto multiple small tables around the room this time? The line for the food was pretty massive last year and that would help with the congestion.

I guess my other concerns are just the start time since my fiance and I have to catch a flight that night, and maybe the lack of surfaces to put food on/sit at the beginning, I guess it's probably a circulation thing though.

Lindsay has said that she's going to put a second food station in the Club Room; while that isn't quite your idea of putting food on multiple small tables, which is an idea I also had and fully support, it's a step in the right direction.
