43 tickets sold already. I can't believe how fast these are going.

And we're up to $95 for the raffle. I might have a console to give away if this keeps up.

Yep. Soda, coffee, and tea, and we're not only getting one private bartender this year: we're getting two private bartenders plus a "server" who will be there pretty much exclusively for the non-alcoholic drinks (soda).

    Hotness.

    Oh yeah. They remembered us.

One of the difficulties that the staff ran into last year was that they were serving us appetizers, but we were eating full, heaping plates full. The appetizer buffet is usually served before the entree or the regular dinner buffet, so they're not accustomed to having to make so many appetizers so quickly. To that end Lindsay has requested that I ask everyone to only take one plate at a time, and keep in mind that taking huge, heaping plates of food that probably won't get entirely eaten anyway is not a good idea for several reasons. I'll be reminding everyone of this again in the e-mail I send before the party, too.

Plus they just underestimated our appetites, plain and simple. They weren't ready for the onslaught of hungry nerds, and they weren't aware that hungry nerds consume food like no other.

They also weren't staffed properly for the bar. One of the bars last year was broken, and instead of putting two bartenders behind the one remaining bar, they just put one bartender back there. No way. By the end of the night Lindsay, the special events coordinator, was behind the bar serving soda.

I brought all of this up to Lindsay in an e-mail, as well as the overcrowding concerns and the buffet line concern. She's taking steps to fix all of our concerns, and the good news is that despite the concerns we had from last year, overall it was a phenomenal success. So this year's going to be even better.

Btw: 50 tickets sold already, over $100 for the raffle.

Yeah, I had an absolute blast last year. Loved all the food, and everything they did to host us. However it always ends up being that when you're having a ton of fun, the host is cringing. It's good to know we weren't too rowdy.

My paypal account has been messed up recently as well even though its supposed to just debit from my ATM card. So long as the card you are using is backed by a major card company just run it through without using your paypal account. The payment system will still allow it.

i tried not using paypal . . . but it wouldn't let me use a credit card that was associated with a paypal account

it's ok though . . paypal finally let me in this morning . . . ticket is now purchased yay!

TimeCruiserMike is TimeCruiserRight. IIRC last year PAX ended at 7:00pm, and the party started at 8:00pm. This year is shaping up to be the same thing. If PAX changes their schedule and ends at a different time, we'll adjust accordingly. The goal is for the party to start an hour after PAX, to allow everyone time to tear themselves away from PAX, go to the hotel, shower, change, grab some stuff, and head over in a leisurely manner.

I really wanted to post some big announcement when the tickets were exactly half gone, but we went down to 62 while I slept.

So, tickets are now over half gone. It took a week for us to sell over 50% of the tickets. I would suggest if anyone is on the fence about this, to buy early rather than late. By next week we may be sold out.

Registered +1. But the ticket count was kinda weird. It said 62 left, but when I put the quantity to 2, it said there was 41 left.

Alright, the speed at which these are selling out has put a fire under my ass. I'm buying a ticket for both myself and my friend as a birthday gift, but I won't get paid until Tuesday.

So, ironically, I'm having him buy the tickets for both of us now until I can pay him back. :P

A tad pricey, but I'm in as well. Especially since the train makes it in too late to make it to the Pre-PAX Dinner. I need to get my parties in somehow!

As for the poll I have to say I'm actually in the creamy middle: maybe one big prize and a number of smaller mid-range prizes. Not everyone will necessarily get something, but the people who do will get something good and there's something totally lust-worthy. It also makes it hard to determine when we don't have any frame of reference. What does "little" mean? $5? $20?

Perhaps a plan to order things out more numerically. Pick a rough percentage of the budget for the big prize. Then divide the rest out so that, say 25% of the attendees get something. Use that to construct some rough prize budgets allowing for overage and it's worked out.
