It's a cool cover, but the fact that he had to add white soles to prevent him from being completely absorbed by the background tells me that the costume is just too simple. Meanwhile, Aurora has a nice balance of black and white, and her starburst motif shows up in multiple spots and is integrated into her gloves and boots instead of being localized on her chest.
Yet the white soles are part of what I like about that spidey cover, I think of it more as he's stuck right to the underside of the page
edit: yet still in midair and not stuck to anything else, I'm explaining it badly, but I still like it dangit!
Damn can't find it anywhere, there was a cool rendition , created by the superhero tailor, the old jewish guy. is also in a couple 'future peter' lookaheads, was a nice cross between classic spidey and semi-badass
Meh I really wasn't sold on the future costume from the JMS run, I was glad they never moved over to it (not that there was much chance of that I think).
And it also didn't look at all like something a college kid would have laying around, much less something that would be easy enough to work with that he could make a costume out of it.
Kind of like how the Captain America movie costume is ridiculous.
You know Captain America works for the government right? I'm pretty sure that they, unlike a college kid, would actually have the means to produce a professional looking costume.

And I love the Cap movie costume, looked awesome.
This always made me wonder about the chainmail Cap wore. I mean, the guvmint couldn't give him something safer, like an early kevlar prototype to protect their most important asset?
I think that at some point he's gonna get the wings painted on, maybe after some air drop scene and then someone will die and he'll have "earned his wings"

I think the new Cap costume is off somehow. The suspenders are weird, the shoulder pads are weird, the vaguely armored torso is goofy, I'm not a fan of it.
I hope Project Rooftop does a contest for a Cap costume some time soon. They should announce it on the Fourth of July.
Well, they should have announced it Memorial Day and unveiled the entries on the Fourth, but oh well.
I really like it, it looks protective and yet still comfortable... unlike say the old Batman outfits where the actor couldn't even turn his head, I can see someone doing believable hand to hand combat with this suit on.

Project Rooftop said that a Cap redesign was coming soon, but that was a couple months ago, I think.
The costume looks too SWAT to me, not enough superheroish stuff going on.

That costume looks fine. Super-soldier body armour crossed with the bright colours of the Superhero. Great stuff.

The straps connected to the shoulder pads make it look like he's wearing really thick suspenders. The boots are normal until you get to the top, and then it's all THICK BAND FOR NO REASON. The fabric itself looks fine, but all the lines going all over the place in hexagon patterns looks like some exec just demanded it have more lines, and didn't care where they went.
I hope when I see it in motion it looks better. It just looks too busy, with too much form over function.

I'm sympathetic to the desire to call to mind the old WW2 costume and to balance that with a 2010 Superhero Movie look, but the design isn't quite doing it for me either. The patterning on the pants doesn't really suit Captain America and the shoulders are also a bit much and a bit overly techy.
Who knows, it might all look more subtle and integrated on screen though.
It is needlessly busy, as others have said. The shoulder pads and suspenders are weird looking, and something is weird about the head cover. The back of his head is armored, the sides of his head are armored, but his forehead doesn't seem to be. That's goofy.
So, I have an iPad and was very excited about the new Iron Man Annual being released day and date until I actually looked at it. 3x1.99 or I can get it in the store for 4.99. WTF Marvel why do you want people to not buy digital copies? Also why does it have to be in 3 parts? Surely it can't be a size issue, I mean that damn Wired app was like 700mb or something crazy.

Dawww isn't he cute? Oh wait, sorry you meant the MOVIE pictures... This is definitely them!
I believe these have been confirmed as his modern costume rather than the WW2 one.

Still, is a fairly good composite, and could have been much worse.
Wouldn't it be funny if they actually picked Chris Evans to play Captain America?

Yeah I think it's the bright colours that throw me slightly.
I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic fiction, and I enjoyed OML. More of the same could be fun.

No, nowe don't. It was a good story but it took long enough to come out, its better off as is, otherwise you end up with Marvel Zombies.

A sequel to OML keeps Millar in his own little sandbox. That's a good thing - keep him doing either creator-owned or out-of-main-continuity books.
It was good at first, now they keep dragging it out. Its edge was seeing the heroes as super cannibals. Its faded now with over exposure.
But it brought back Howard the Duck!

sorry, sarcasm must not be easily identifiable in text form. but as an actor myself, i must say that he does in fact blow.
