First of all sorry for my bad spelling im very dyslexic
I ve probably not been googling this very well but I can seem to find a defnate answer.
I have a first gen ps3 and I have the other os. I installed yellow dog linux. I used it for a year or so but im a bit of a linux noob so recently I haven’t really used it
Ps3 latest update removes the other os option. (i havent done the update yet)
Ive backed up my stuff and I don’t care about loosing it.
The problem is. Linux is installed in a 10 gig hard drive partition. And this update dodsnt say anything about removeing that partition. It only says about removeing the option to use the other os.
So does that mean ill still have a 10 gig partition with hard drive space I cant use?
I don’t mind loosing linux but I do mind loosing 10 gig.
Has anyone one done or come across this and can advise me what to do?

Before you download the update, it pops up a warning suggesting (IIRC) that you back up EVERYTHING and reformat the entire disk. You have the ability to cancel updating at this point.
do you know what happens if i dont reformat..... coz i have now way to back up. i dont have a usb hard disk etc....
i think id need about 10 gig....

Again, if I recall correctly (there should be no risk in you starting the update and confirming for yourself) the partition will be locked out.
