MOTW 4-07-10: Logan and Bucky are the new Riggs and Murtaugh
There were a lot of damn good books this week. Shield and Luke Cage were great, but the best in my stack so far has been Wolverine: Weapon X. I really hope this book is selling better now than when it debuted, because its the strongest a Wolverine solo book has been in a LONG time. As for the actual MOTW, the cover says it all (and I don't have a scanner here with me):
Thats a sweet Cap costume, has Bucks always looked that way/

A long meeting meant I didn't get to the shop today, but here is some moments from B&R 11 over at S_D, the last page is stupid but Damien is cool still:
Apart from the eyes its a great costume. I dont know why bt I never noticed Buckys outfit looking like that before but its an awesome design, wouldnt mind htem using that in the film.
The one thing that I didn't like about SHIELD was that it was pretty much all exposition. There were a lot of neat ideas, but it was mostly "here is a cool idea with some cool imagery and POTENTIAL to be developed into something awesome, but now we're going to go over there!". The art was great, and if they actually develop some of this stuff, I'll be on board. We'll see how it plays out.
Maybe I'm just bitter because a few weeks ago I picked up Time Lincoln (which is about a time-traveling Abe Lincoln fighting a time-traveling Joseph Stalin empowered with Rasputin's powers) and the whole issue, start to finish, was teases of things-with-potential-to-be-cool-if-we-expand-on-them-which-we-won't-do-right-now. Like, there was a panel of Lincoln facing off against Mephitler on Mount Rushmore, and that's it. Just one panel.

When did the arc with Bucky and Wolverine start? Want to know how far back I should go.

Great Ten #6 gives insight into Ghost Fox Killer, and reveal the big bad for the story.....:
It's Taiwan. Which makes sense because Bedard is a hippie communist so of course China would be good and Taiwan bad.
But while an outright origin isn't given for GFK, this is what we're told:
And Liefeld created Deadpool at the height of his "I'm just going to trace from classic Perez/Byrne/Miller/whomever" phase.

Cinderella #6 concluded what was one of the best mini-series I've read in a long time. I'm going to be on the lookout for more stories written by Chris Roberson, he can be the next Mike Carey. And Shawn McManus, hella good artist.
I use to call her Cindy,
she changed her name to Cin,
I guess that's the name of her (spy) game:
Basically the fairy godmother is just tired of her witch enemy (who turns out to be Frau Tottenkinder) always messing with her trying to bring happiness, so she decides to take over a Fable land to make everyone happy by force, using mundy weapons to enforce happiness when her power goes out after midnight:
It's the same ol, same ol situaaaaaaaaaaation
Pick up the trade of this mini, it's great.

I saw that scan on S_D, and will probably get that next week. I mean, it even has a Colleen Coover back up story, win/win/win:
Look at Lockjaw in that last panel, come on that's just cool.
No not in that way. I'm not talking about the Deadpool that is the new Wolverine, I'm talking about Deadpool when he appeared sporadically in X-Force/Cable titles.

Yes, that has been Bucky's look since he became Cap. Its the Alex Ross design.
Tell me more.
Did anyone else buy Turf? That was right up there with SHIELD as wonderful on every single page.

I love the Power Pack. Four kids get superpowers and become superheroes because damn it it's the right thing to do.
I hear you man.
If you can read that without hearing the Beastie Boys singing Sabotage, you have no soul. Period.
