Yah, 40mm is great, but I like Assault because the good AR's (XM8, AN-94, M416, M16) all feel like awesome, beefy, holy righteous tools of mans killing.
Everyone talks about how deadly the LMG's are, but I am a MUCH more efficient killer with the good AR's than I am even the M60. My K/D ratio and number of gold stars in Assault (with nearly equal point totals and hours played) shows that.
Oh yea I totally agree.

Plus i mostly run with the smoke 40mm now anyway. Especially if I am attacking.

Using the Saiga really trained me in tap-firing as opposed to treating every gun as a fully auto bullet hose, which combined with unlocking the ARs that don't suck has made playing Assault a lot more fun.

No. The LMG's don't get more accurate when shot, they are much much more accurate when you burst fire. That's how people snipe with M60's and the like without perks. The only time you spray and pray is if you're right in their face, and even then sometimes you're better to tap. But yeah, AR's aren't inaccurate by any means, but they certainly aren't more accurate. At all.

It appears that the reason you aren't as good with LMGs is because you don't know how they work. Tap firing/burst firing with LMGs is the way to go, just the same as ARs.
Also, I find it hilarious that some of you think you "understand" how goomba posts, when it is obvious you are the victims.

40mm shotgun is somewhat good. Even up to about 10m it almost always kills in one shot and it has massive spread so it's a good backup when you run out of ammo and someone's up close.
I also have a dislike of the LMGs, I think it's the ridiculous muzzle flash and noise, it scares me.
LMGs definitely do gain accuracy when firing sustained....except the M60 doesn't.
Try using the starter LMG. Start firing and don't stop. You'll notice that it starts out bucking wildly before relatively quickly settling. While tap/burst firing works, if you're looking just to keep firing in a single direction, it will become more steady after a second or so.
Oh also, don't move while firing and accuracy goes way up with LMGs. LMGs are built for staying in one place and firing. Of course, they also work on the move and tapping, but if you're stationary and sustaining fire they're more accurate.
I also don't buy the whole "We're not gonna nerf the M60, we're just gonna buff everything else" excuse. If you buff everything else, no one will use anything outside of stuff like the AN, AUG, etc.
I care about my K/D ratio only in that I dislike dying a lot. Killing is more fun that dying, and since I mostly play conquest these days it's important to kill people and stay alive.

Lawndart did you change the pitch, roll, and yaw of your air.pdx or whatever it's called? I was having trouble until I realized I had to change whichever one Carbon leaves out.
Ah, that may be it. Thanks, I'll futz with them and see. I don't think I changed anything in the air.pdx since I never fly helicopters and the fix says the UAV uses land controls.
The UAV is a very weird special case. It technically uses the mouse settings from the land controls for the speed of its free-look, but it also uses bits from the air controls (which is more than likely why its not working right). I went back and even tried finding a fix for the UAV / chopper inverted problem again, but alas, that solution will have to come from DICE directly.
As soon as that new, easy-to-use automated program is released with all of the updates to the fix, I'll let you guys know.

As others have pointed out, LMG's do stabilize over time as you hold the trigger. The only one this doesn't hold true with is the M60, which I think is part of the issue (it's too accurate early in it's fire band).

I've been trying to get platinum stars on all of the difficult to use weapons (CG, sniper rifles, M1911) and the GOL is just so fucking weird. I mean if you use it it's obviously easy-mode but dang I can't get three headshots in a row with the piece of junk.

I've almost gotten platinum stars on my AT-AT mine and my CG. I swear, no one ever looks at the roadway for mines, especially when they're in their own base.
It's just 'AT mine'. Also whoever thought it was a good idea to put a machine gun on the UAV is moron. Let's give something with super mobility the ability to shoot rockets and fire a machine while putting the controller in no danger at all. :x
I'm just bitter, shooting down a UAV on the 360 is a lot more difficult than it should be.

TBH, the absolute #1 reason for me slacking off the PA servers were the constant votes for All Talk and the inability to even up teams. TF2 was the ONLY game I played with PA folks as well.

How did you manage to mortar the helicopter or was it just dumb luck that they flew threw a mortar strike aimed somewhere else?
