If you aren't using it in situations like the one you just described, then you have no one but yourself to blame for a lack of reactivity.
Ahh yes, that 5 minute cooldown will fix all our problems!!!!
If you're with a group that's forcing you to need to use ERW more than every five minutes, something is wrong.
Yes, there's never an encounter that involves picking up mobs more then once every 5 minutes. How silly of me.
So, if it's an encounter, you should have planned strategically for the adds coming in. See my initial point, that the fun of DK is that it has to played strategically (which you tried to shoot down, then six posts later, try and give an example of an encounter with adds...that you should have strategically planned for). You shouldn't be reacting to some random event in this case, you should known it's coming and be prepared for it. Especially if you're one of the pre-assigned add tanks.
I'm thinking of the ones around Northshire Abbey. Weren't they changed to be diseased wolves a couple of patches ago?
Yes, but that's not all of them. If all the new hunters only got pets from the first hour of play, they'd get like a choice. Each.
Right, my statement was more saying that I'm pretty sure that all of the starting area wolves are sleek wolves, but then again some of them are diseased. I doubt Humans will get diseased wolves as the starter pet. If they do get wolves, it'll be the stock "sleek" wolf.
Whatever is affecting these wolves isn't going away. Each day that passes brings forth more sick wolves. It pains me to ask anyone to kill nature's beasts, but we must destroy the diseased young wolves before this little outbreak turns into an epidemic.
Kill diseased young wolves in the valley and bring me their diseased wolf pelts as proof of your deed.

I think we should just drop this conversation now.
Or, here! Hold this lightbulb. Now the circular motion will at least power something!

Down with you naysayers, diseased wolf meat is the best meat.

Except, you completely missed this somehow, you can't prepare anything strategic with the current Rune System without shooting your DPS/TPS in the foot.
Anytime you aren't using a rune the minute it's off-cooldown, you are loosing DPS. And this is the big problem with the system. You can't save runes for am emergency without gimping yourself. You can't have a DnD waiting to be unleashed because sitting with 3 runes off cooldown gimps the fuck out of you.
So then the question becomes "Do we balance around DKs saving runes or not saving runes?".
The new system gets rid of this problem because you now CAN leave Runes in reserve without a loss in overall DPS.

Yes, the unexpected can always be predicted. Of course.

I hate that goblin in Hellfire that's like, "Hey pours this shit on the boar meat." Fighting those things is a pain in the ass when you're fresh in the Outland.
I like how you have to kill like 20 of them to get enough meat that turns "good." All the while avoiding the crust bursters, additional boars, and a Fel Reaver that pats right next to the downed zeppelin.

Hell with all boar quests in Outland. If you did them enough for them to make you mad, then you were either the first one to do them on your server or you do not learn from other people's mistakes.

Thankfully, they fixed this shit around the WotLK release and boars are plentiful and purifying the meat almost always succeeds.
HFP is the worst zone. Such bad mob placements. It's like punishment for heading to Outland at 58.
I've always waited until 60 to go to Outland, and I've never had a problem with the place. Especially now with a flying mount. Good lord, questing with a flying mount feels like cheating.

Compare Hellfire to whatever piece of shit zone you were leveling in Azeroth.
Congratulations, Hellfire is still fifty times better.

Well, in terms of the mechanics and laying out of quests (like, pretty much every explorable spot on the map has two quests) of course it's better. Doesn't mean some of the things are annoying or dumb.
I remember when I did HFP on my DK BElf. One of the last quests I did gave me the 2H Katana, I threw it on, looked at my characters white hair in an ever so specific style and went, "Well shit, I look like fucking Sephiroth" and promptly hit the barber and corrected this.
HFP is the worst zone. Such bad mob placements. It's like punishment for heading to Outland at 58.
Why does everyone hate Hellfire so much?
A lot of the mobs are in very awkward areas (Zeth'Gor) or have irritating abilities, the quests aren't that interesting and compared to places like Zangarmarsh and Terrokar it doesn't look nearly as impressive.

I think its ugly.
A lot of people have a beef with the quest flow, and some of the quests (although they've made improvements).

The reason why I hate Hellfire is the same reason why I hate, say, STV or Un'Goro. It makes me realize I'm in a particular stretch of the game. It was alright when TBC was the end-game, because I had the rest of the zones to look forward to. But ever since WotLK came out, it seems so bad. I guess it's because how ugly it is. And how much the gear makes you look in disarray.

I remember hating that zone when I hit it as my Hunter, Precisely Calibrated Boomstick suddenly became the worst weapon ever. Died alot until I managed to get a decent green quest reward weapon.
Hellfire has one thing going for it, it's not BEM.
I haven't quested in BEM since I was specifically aiming for achievements. I can be WotLK content ready by early Nagrand. HFP, Zangar, Terokkar all cleared, and tapping on Nagrand puts me into level 68 and I'm off.

I mean, let's talk about the awesome forge camp quests behind Thrallmar. They're fun and interesting and there's about sixty felguards between each one for absolutely no reason. Oh, and did I mention that there's no space to just clear out your train and eat without pulling five mobs at the end?

Piffle. Ribbon was a perfectly fine gorilladin before gorilladins and before 3.0 nerfed the crap out of her.
To keep in line with the upcoming dispell changes.

The boars had damage reflection? I thought it was the ravagers.

Certain boars there had it. Not the red ones, but the gray ones.
Because the population density is about twice that of New York City.
