My actual budget is 750$ this is what I put together.

It'll mostly be for WoW, maybe with a little C&C3 when it comes out. Does anyone have any suggestions or feedback, it's been about five years since I put a new system together and I'm a little out of the loop.

    Intel Pentium D 820 Smithfield 2.8GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80551PG2800FN - Retail

    Very Very Very WRONG!

There's a sticky over in H&A about computer building that you may want to have a gander at.

But otherwise there's no reason, whatsover not to be looking at a Core2Duo or an AMD Athlon X2

What's the deal with the P4, seemed like a good budget buy that I can upgrade later if needed.

Yea, I wouldn't recommend that processor either. The problem is really with that motherboard -- the 945 chipset is dead, and you won't be able to upgrade the processor. A P965 board would be better (it would accept that Pentium D, and allow you to upgrade to a Core 2 Duo later), but decent ones are $120. A socket 939 AMD build might be a better idea. I'm not up on the AMD stuff, but I'll try to put together a list.

Also, unless you're upgrading to 4 gigs of RAM later, you'll want a 1 gig package like this instead of that single 1 gig stick. Having 2 sticks allows you to use dual channel, which is a decent speed boost.

So I guess that p4 isn't the best for gaming, but how about this, looks like it's a great value,

I'd be all over that, but

    House
    Cars
    Student Loans

Sort of take the top spot in the budget. I got a bonus this year and I want to upgrade off of my old XP2700+ and Radeon 9600 Pro, and I'm going to do it under 750.

you know you're just paying a lot more in the long run then

you're just gonna have to upgrade that much sooner

why not wait until oyu have more money available to spend on an upgrade

If you're building for games that are coming out this year, definitely get a dual core.
