You needed more vikings. The Vikings do the brunt work of destroying the carriers, while the battlecruisers shoot all the interceptors (which they seem to do really well).
nope, tassadar destroyed the overmind they were the "heroes"
dumb space elf fantasy bs.
which paved the way for an even more intelligent and powerful ruler to step in, resulting in the loss of their homeworld and all their ancient methods of creating shit???
Hmm yes
The zerg essentially 'won' SC, terran stabilized and protoss got fucked
They came out on top in the Brood War, but it was much nearer than Kerrigan wanted to admit. Had Raynor and Fenix refused to help her take down the Psi-Disruptor, the Zerg would be performing in Circuses and on Reality TV.
The UED are facist dicks, but they're better than getting Om-nomed in a hive, so I won't complain too much.
The Protoss got hit hardest, but their civilization was in decline for a while. In fact, that's what the third expansion of SCII is going to be about, rebuilding the Protoss race.
The Zerg losing the Overmind *was* a major blow. Kerrigan is not smarter than the Overmind from what we've seen. She's partial to all the human flaws anyone has. And she's been beaten at her own game before. She's just a very, very, scary dictator at the moment who prefers to Omnom than take prisoners.
It's Duran and his hybrids though, and whatever Xel'Naga Voodoo Shark that turns up which will really shift the balance.
Did I mention how much I hate Twilight Fortress? Man this map makes me wanna kill myself. Terrans are more of a disadvantage than the other 2 races.
If it isn't the proxy gateways every fucking game, then it is the mass tier 3 mothership carriers. Why does Blizzard keep giving me this map to play on.

I think part of the ease of protection against baneling is scouting. You can scout the zerg's baneling nest building long before it's done, thus making it an easy transition into even a token ground/hellion force.
I had a guy try to cannon rush me...by building two pylons right next to my CC. I pulled 6 scvs and they drilled the pylons down and then he thought he was being tricky by building one in the gas on metalopalis but I just did the same thing and took it out. Terrible strategy but at least he went through with it...twice.

So who won the tournament and what race were they (or were they especially bold and played random!?).
Are the games going to be posted on youtube any time?

When do they send the probe for this, I'm curious. Like, right at the start of the game? Because I can't figure out a situation where the building pylon isn't immediately under fire by the marine that gets built immediately when your barracks finishes.

i think the idea is that you send your scouting probe in, scout around, eventually you head off into the opponent's fog of war, and then he thinks you've left his base and you either build it in a secluded corner of his base, or on Metalopalis (sp?), inside the smoke-covered area.
its way before your barracks finishes if you dont 9 rax. someone did it to me on des oas and built it behind my minerals on the low ground then used the probe to spot.
im pretty sure the build involves drastically reduced probe count.
edit: it's still good if the terran doesn't see it coming though...very surprising
you can hold it off with marauders on the ramp/marines behind and then your safer against roaches too.
its a p laughable strat now
would still work if you hit right as he sets up his expansion though. toons isnt good enough for that though
I was not paying attention and I got manhandled by a zerg player going for an early baneling bust.
It was so incredibly stupid of me. I saw his zerglings streaming into my expansion area on Blistering Sands (I had control of the watchtowers as is my wont) but thought nothing of it. Then banelings/zerglings burst through and kill my eight marines and wreck my base. Then I remembered why I always double-wall against the zerg.
I really feel like I have a grasp on this game now, like I know what to do in what situation and the advantages of certain builds over other against certain races. I know the earliest they can attack me with certain builds (thanks Day9) and I am actually doing pretty good at keeping my resources low (except gas, how the hell do I spend it when I have no minerals? Craziness) and not getting supply locked.
Oh I also went from Gold to Bronze in the reset, so it really helps your confidence.

things that cost a lot of gas but not many minerals help you keep up unit production when you have plenty of gas but no minerals.
Sentries as Protoss are a good example. 50 minerals 100 gas helps you dump gas fast without dumping too many minerals.
I play Terran, I think I am messing up my build though. I seem to have an excess of minerals and gas that I shouldn't have. I got it from the D9D with KawaiiRice.

In general, in Starcraft, excess minerals means one of two things.
Either you aren't producing units constantly, or you are, but don't have enough production facilities. Either of those things can be rectified, but it takes time to build more production facilities.
Becoming better at macro means anticipating resource stockpiles before they happen and building an amount of production facilities appropriate to your income. Too few, and you'll be stockpiling resources despite constant unit production. Too many, and you'll have wasted resources on buildings that aren't doing anything because you don't have enough income.
For example, if you are playing Protss, I believe one base worth of gas and minerals income fully saturated can support three constantly-producing Warp Gates with an average amount of money being spent on teching up, or four Warp Gates with minimal teching.
A lot of people then go and expand at some point, but fail to realise that, once expansions are set up, their income will increase, and as such they need to construct more production facilities. Expanding is merely a means to an end, not the end itself, and that end is to have more units than your opponent.
It doesn't matter if a Zerg player goes out into the map and takes map control, expanding to six bases while a Protoss player might only get three. If the Protoss player is using that income to constantly produce units and the Zerg player is not, the Protoss will win.

One of the people in the finals had to leave so we postponed the rest of the games till tomorrow while the first round of the gold/plat league is going on.

So as a fellow player of the Zerg, what is a proper counter to the dreaded Terran MMM ball o' death? I just managed to finish my last match by running over 100 fully upgraded zerlings into my opponents MMM (barely a dozen survived), but the amount of time it took to prepare for the assault was only allowed since he wasn't particularly good.

I always have the most trouble with roach hydra as Terran. Mutas are annoying but I can normally scan and get some missile turrets up before your harass works. Even better when you micro your roaches by having burrow.
Can anyone tell me what I did wrong in this game? I know I made lots of little mistakes like not building another rax, attacking when I should not have and bad bunker placement/not enough bunkers. I looked at the enemy and at one point they have 1500 minerals and I had more income than they did. The units lost shows me ahead even though I was earning more, spending more I still lost. What exactly happened?
If you're ever wondering to yourself what to get in a zerg matchup in the mid-game, the answer is probably hydras and roaches.
The problem is the marauders hit so damn hard against the roaches. It's tough for me to keep bases intact whenever someone springs the ball on my base while I'm out preparing to attack his. A couple of my fights have ended with both sides rushing to destroy the other base in time.
I would love to spring a murder of mutalisks on the ball and take it out, but as well all know they are made of paper mache and peanut brittle.

Or lings and mutalisks.
Or roaches and mutalisks (if you have a lot of gas).
But yeah, Zerg are basically built around roaches for many things because you need roaches to take marauders.
Lings actually do pretty good against marauders.
